I was hoping (not expecting) the USA would win. No way did I see a beat down like this coming. 3-1, 3-1, 3-1 for the first three sessions? Sheesh. Shock They were over 66% of the way home before the Saturday afternoon matches even started. They're at 17.5 and the record is 18.5 I believe. That's historic.

What an absolutely spectacular performance for the USA squad. 6 rookies on the team and they all handled it exceptionally well.

DJ going 5-0-0 as the elder statesman was huge.

Stricker said he really saw the guys come together this week and really bond as much, or more, than any other team he's been a part of. He said Brooks and Bryson had even floated the idea of pairing them together yesterday.

Dechambeau, IMO, gained a lot of fans for the way he handled this weekend. It was fun to watch him interact with the fans and really feeding off the crowd, and the crowd loving every minute of it. I know Phil Mickelson was walking with Dechambeau's groups quite a bit this weekend and I'd imagine he played a part in the attitude that Dechambeau showed this weekend too.

Phenomenal performance by basically every single player on the USA team this weekend.

Flipping back and forth between the Viking game and press conference it really seems DJ is the ringleader of this group.

The players all seemed to feed of him and his humor during the PC.

DJ finally demonstrated in ♠️ how good he’s capable of playing going 5-0. Cantlay & Morikowa are young studs. Brooks & Bryson are pure entertainment with contrasting on course styles but ?to watch. Thomas is a terrific competitor & player. Scott S. played the world #1 today and kicked his ass. Xander had a great week but drew a wounded Rory & Rory responded. Spieth drew tough opponents all week &. battled. Harris English threw Lee Westwood a bone on 18 and Lee got likely his final win, long after the Cup was in US hands. Probably the most entertaining 3 days of golf I’ve ever watched. Fineau & Berger played well too. Total team effort for a record 19-9 winning margin. USA USA USA ☝️

Even though Poulter won his match today it was nice that the US was thumping Europe so bad that he couldn’t run his mouth like he usually does.

I'm well aware of the nickname he had on tour when he first started ? he's the reason I got hooked on golf.

He was a young hotshot on the tour when he first joined and rubbed some of the elder statesmen the wrong way by being who he is.

Also, regular hat Bryson is way more likeable than whatever you call that douchecap he wears usually.

Hopefully he makes the change full time.

They photoshopped Dechambeau and Koepka into the movie poster from Stepbrothers instead of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.

In the beginning of the movie they hated each other and tried to kill each other. By the end they were best friends.

I guess Bryson and Brooks wanted to play together on one of the sessions, and told Stricker this. They must have worked out some of their beef. As a US fan that’s good to see.

Stricker did a HELL of a job playing to everyone’s strengths this weekend. Kudos to him.

From what I have read, they got together for a couple of dinners, hashed things out, and said "This is silly" and moved on.

Course looks strange on googlemaps, possibly multiple fairways/tee boxes? Been probably , 6 years since I played there. I remember it being a tight course, but don't remember some of what I am seeing on google maps. Made a tee time there for this coming weekend, as all my usual places are booked until 3pm.

For example, the hole I remember as #1 looks like a "Y" shape now with 2 different greens. there is another hole with a "Y" shape and it looks like maybe 2 different tee boxes, one straight and one a significant dog leg...

Also, are we still growing the game? It has been quite a task just to secure tee times this season.

I totally thought I responded to this one -- thanks @Composer for coming to the rescue. I think the new routing is fine -- kind of changes how the round starts with tough drive on the dogleg right No.1 to a green that doesn't have the poa taking over the surface just yet. The fescue rough that can grow in on the far side of the fairway and the right side of the fairway make it tougher than it appears on the scorecard. I think No. 3 becomes interesting too as the dogleg left now requires you to hit a draw on use the hill to feed the ball down the fairway.

The course has really been maintained well this year despite the drought conditions at times and then some huge rainfall amounts at rare moments. I think the greens are in as good as shape as they've been the past twenty years. The superintendent really put the focus on getting some more sand into the clay around the greens and making sure that the greens get morning sun by removing trees.

The course is part of the Public Country Club circuit as a Tier II spot which I think has made getting tee times a little tougher. The course set a recent high for number of rounds played last year and I don't think the interest has died down.

I called Bandon this past weekend to see if anything was open in 2022. And if I am a single they could probably squeeze me in somewhere, but nothing for 2 or more. They don't start booking 2023 until January, so I'll try then. I'm to the point where I want to get some of these in the books and figure out how to pay for it later. Demand seems to far exceed supply right now for most things golf related.

I did book a Sand Valley, WI trip for next labor day weekend though. Anybody been there? It looks fantastic! Looking forward to it.

No comparison between the number of people moving to Iowa vs. Florida. Florida is booming, with year-around golf being a major attraction (that, and no state income tax!). By comparison, Iowa's population is stable: it's growing, albeit very slowly.

Of course there are crazy people everywhere. I'm sure your decision to not accept the job offer in Miramar was well thought-out and in your own best interest. Everyone has different priorities, what's most important to them. But if it were me I'd much prefer "a nice promotion" in Florida to no promotion and continuing to live in the Philippines. But we all have different priorities, and I totally respect your decision. :good2:

I'd have to crunch the numbers... but I'm thinking that with the different cost of living from the Philippines to Florida (lack of localish taxes or not), the overall picture likely supports the decision.

It was well thought yet you took a dig at the decision anyway? I was having fun with the topic by the way and not judging.

For the record I studied international business in college. Have lived and worked abroad previously in the UK and Bahrain. My wife is from Bangkok and it's a 3.5 hour flight from here instead of 24 hours from MN. My kids have seen the globe and experienced quite a bit.

The eldest is a Fr at UM in engineering and the youngest has been accepted at the school for biological sciences for next fall.

My wife and I may come back to MN but we have a house in Thailand so we're not 100% sure. I do love MN over every other place I've lived so I do want to come back.

If you must know.

I’m sure the decision of many pro golfers to choose Florida as their residence is saving on taxes and the ability to practice more. That said, most people don’t realize until you live there that the standard of living is a lot lower than here and the idiot factor is very high.

He graduated from Harvard.

I bet his daddy is bigger too but that really has nothing to do with my decision to be here. Have a nice day.

Tiger’s son Charlie is a scary good golfer for only being 12

Really humbling to think a 12 year old could beat me so bad.

Looked to me like his swing was smoother than his father's. Then again his body didn't undergo all the punishment that his father's has endured.

The general theory is, when Tiger bulked up, he lost a little.

When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

I mean come on you can't expect him to play with a name like Charlie. Why not Jaguar or Leopard?

He's what, 8 different races? Compromise the nickname El Cochiloco (crazy pig). That's a bad-ass name in Spanish. Not even joking.

And Americans caught up in all the Narcos shows wouldn't be into it? ;)
