The Sunday crew at LTD had a big discussion about how to treat the 12th, depending on the lead/strokes behind. Play it safe, go for par, then get aggressive on the 13th? Or just go balls out for both holes?

2 words: Don't choke. What a performance by Zalatoris, though. Wow.

That triple bogey killed it, unless, as was mentioned before, Tin Cup happens.

Hideki does it.
It was a decent day today for drama, but it was not edge of your seat. Everyone kept pushing, but never quite made it. Quality entertainment, though.

Middle of the green on 12. If you miss then the back bunker isn’t an awful spot

Sure would be for me!

I play the Tiger Woods golf on the Playstation...I'd rather overshoot and miss the green, instead of hitting the water. If I hit the green...bonus. It's that tough of a hole.

So Bryson, one player, talks about playing a hole from a different fairway and the PGA gets bent out of shape and creates a new rule before the tournament.
Now we have multiple players intentionally hitting it into a TIO to take a free drop and nobody from the PGA cares?

I mean the course is crazy long at 7,875 yards. But that is not how the course, or that hole specifically, was "intended to be played", which was the exact argument used for Bryson and that local hazard rule.
I am going to intentionally hit away from the fairway into this TIO to take the right side bunkers out of play? Yeah, that's a joke.
Phil leads by one going into the final round & is paired with Koepka on Sunday! Awesome! :dup:

I heard that if he should win he'd be the oldest major champion ever. :good2:
Let's get this bread, Phil.
Phil to -8 he leads by 4 strokes with 8 holes remaining.☝️
Let's get this bread, Phil.
I was always more of a Tiger guy than Phil but I’m rooting for him. I love when the older guys turn back the clock at a major.
I really wish Watson would have held on at Turnberrt a few years ago
Phil at -8 is now leading by 5 strokes with 6 holes remaining.
Phil puts one in a water hazard on 13 but limits the damage to a bogey, he leads by 4 strokes with 5 holes remaining.
Phil misses a 6 footer on 14 and cards a bogey, he now leads by 3 strokes with 4 holes remaining.
Phil birdies 16 and leads by 3 strokes with 2 holes remaining.
Phil bogeys 17, he is now at -6 and leads by 2 strokes with 1 hole remaining.
Phil pars 18, finishes -6 and WINS by 2 strokes. HISTORY! At age 50, Phil is the oldest Major winner EVER! ? :dup: :biggrin2:
The crowd on the 18th was crazy, and a bit scary.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

The crowd was definitely acting pre-pandemic in its nature!

That was absolutely wild but so fun to see.
As a diehard Mickelson fan (he's the reason I fell in love with golf growing up), this weekend was exceptionally fun.
I was definitely in the camp that believed he'd never win another major given the way he's played the last couple years. He still has the physical skills but he just didn't seem capable of putting everything together for 72 holes.
Super happy for him today. What a great weekend.
Brooks not happy.

Pretty amazing roller-coaster day. Very happy to see Phil win. American events can use a little practice with crowd control if they're going to let the gallery on the course going up 18.
Brooks not happy.

That crowd was completely out of control. PGA might want to rethink their security measures. But that was a great finish. Going into today I gave Phil very little chance. I thought the wheels would come off for him and Brooks would win. Phil did enough to hold on. Fun watching history. :good2:
Congrats to FIGJAM, and I agree with the takes on the crowd. GUYS: DIAL IT BACK. Jesus.

So impressive for anyone coming from our climate here in Minnesota.
Spieth loses it on the last hole...barring a miracle, Kokrak takes this tourney. I had hoped for a dramatic finish, and it was set up for it, but alas....

Apparently, Rahm, with the (big) lead, has tested positive for the Rona, and has to withdraw. Not quite verified yet, but CBS is behind the report...

If the PGA are going by those outdated guidelines, then his playing partners need to withdraw, also. Just sayin'. Close contact and all.

I realize the players know the rules going in but why not just have him play by himself or something, I don’t know. Plus there’s no way they are still as stringent with their protocols still, none of the rest of us are. I was fully masked until vaccinated, now I’m done with that...isn’t that the point?
He can’t just withdraw right...they can test him again. Imagine having a 6 stroke lead and have to dip out for a false positive.

Totally agree. IMO, the PGA always has had a little too much starch in their collars....

A couple of couple patrons got thrown out for chanting Brooksy while DeChambeau was playing. Koepka not playing but tweets he will give anyone thrown out for chanting his name a case of beer...so great .
