It was a jaw-dropping goal by someone who’s scored so many of them. He makes unbelievable plays when the stakes are at their highest.
And because of that, this goal might have been the best of all. Just ask running mate Leon Draisaitl.
“All things considered, my hockey brain goes to (how) that’s one of the nicest goals I’ve seen him score,” Draisaitl said. “Just the whole situation, how it played out, who he had coming up behind him – that’s big-time play. There’s only one player in the world who can do that moment, and we’re very fortunate to have him on our side.”
“He’s not missing that,” Stars coach Pete DeBoer said. “And it’s game over.”
I’m actually glad SC Finals don’t start til next Wednesday. I need a little break & the players need to heal up for the final showdown! I like that it starts in Edmonton (Oilers finished with 101 points & Cats 98). I’ll go 55/45 Cats….but rooting for da Oilers!
@gator At least all the games are on TNT. The studio crew on ESPN are a bunch of stiffs, especially in comparison to TNT crew!
Even with Biz TNT is easier to watch than ESPN. Subban tries to be way too much. And Chris Pronger is as stiff as a corpse. Though both TNT and ESPN have good play-by-play crews. With TNT slightly being better.
Everyone in MN is generally hsppy about the Frost going back to back. But…and this is a BIG but…they aren’t a major 4 Pro Sports team. So while it’s nice, it’s not remotely on the same level of the Wild, TWolves or Twins…let alone the VIKINGS winning a championship to 99.99% of MN FANS. That’s how things roll in the frozen tundra!

I might actually add another 9 or two after that decimal point😄
That 1st Fla goal was a littleBOGUS. Bennett went down too easily like a bowling pin, just where he wanted to fall
In the NCAA thread (or maybe Gopher Season thread?) earlier this year, I made an observation that we've reached a point in the higher levels of the game where too many players are using incidental contact in front of the net as a reason to excessively fall into and/or make contact with the goalie. Especially because enforcement of goaltender interference is all over the place at most levels.
I don't have an easy answer, but somebody should try and make an adjustment because there is an increasing amount of goals being called this way. "oh, I got bumped by the defended, I might as well lose my balance and see if I can affect how the goalie plays this shot..."
It is difficult because if you go to far the other way, defenders will start checking guys into their goalie, more than the already do, to get stuff whistled down. But we cannot continue to allow players who are better skaters/players than this continue to casually fall into the goalie and have goals count.
My 2 cents, but as an official and ex-goalie, of course I see things through different colored glasses...

Just my opinion- Call the actual rule book and most of the discussions like this go away.
How is Oilers Jesus not in the building? Buy that mangod a ticket!!!
Oiler fans play off of the Oilers nickname well. The hard hats from the oil rigs and derricks. If they aren’t wearing a jersey, they have on coveralls… lol!!!
Anyone else get to watch the emergency broadcasting test screen instead of the winning goal? 🤦♀️
Mine happened maybe like 30 seconds before the goal. That could’ve waited a minute (or day!) 🤣
I got lucky. Mine was right during the faceoff to start the power play. Came back and Edmonton was rushing up the ice after I presume Florida dumped it.
I just knew Edmonton was going to score during the alert as soon as it began. When the game finally came back on for me guys were heading into the locker room. Hey, at least wasn’t game 7. 😬
Oilers out shot Panthers 46-32, but handed them a power play after challenging controversial 1st goal & to Cats credit they capitalized. And the 3rd Cat goal was off a rush where I thought Cats got a bounce to get in that spot. But…Oilers fought back from 3-1. First game Panthers have lost leading after 2 periods in a long time. A healthy Leon was a big difference last night & Stuart Skinner played well enough to prevent Bob from stealing game 1.
On the GWG, Mcd gained the zone like only he can, then all 5 Oiler skaters touched the puck before Leon slammed home winner

Cagey vet Perry with a perfect dink pass to set up the play.
There were lots of moving parts on a play that was pulled off to perfection. With all eyes on #97, Draisaitl moved to the slot from his traditional spot in the circle and, of course, McDavid made the perfect pass to a guy who knows how to bury it.
Posting the image of the oil derrick last night reminded we of the summer the year after I graduated from high school. I was working at the gas plant as summer help and one evening 2 guys I graduated with decided to ride a derrick in a field. Unfortunately one of the guys foot got caught in the pump and he lost his foot. One of those thing 100’s of young adults have done and surprisingly it doesn’t happen more often.
I have xfinity and was watching on fox9. I’m sure there’s some logic to the date and time they pick and it might've chosen before the Stanley cup schedule was set (also hard to know if it’ll go to OT). But idk why they can’t just do that at some weirder time or during the reruns of whatever movies they show during the day.
