The Avs completely rolled the Jets. Goals scored per game, 6, 5, 6, 5, 6. If they get respectable goaltending they will make a big run.
Parise has a legit shot at a Cup.
@team2tank I think the Avs are the best team in the NHL but they still have to play all the games. I like Carolina's chances, too.
Colorado gets players like CM and Parise for their run while the Wild play a whole season with washed-up minor leaguers. 😆
@streakygopher I agree the series will be tough. The next one will probably be the toughest in my opinion Dallas/Vegas as far as coming out of the West.
The East is loaded as well. Carolina and NYR looked great. We will see if FL can keep it going.
Nobody creates on the PP like McDavid…nobody finishes on the PP like Leon…just sic
Knies came to play, geez had 3 or 4 good hits opening shift
Knies with the sweet pass on Toronto’s 2nd goal and we gots us a game 7!

Oh man 29 for BOS almost became a name that lives in infamy in Boston lore
25% of Game 7’s go to OT. That’s surprising. I would’ve guessed 10% or less.

Knies making Gopher fans proud this series

That does seem high, it feels like these are rare. The team that wins game 6 seems to often carry that momentum.
On the replay of the TOR goal ooof Carlo totally biffs and gives it up to Matthews that’s no bueno
Pasta officially a Boston legend, spectacular goal
That pass is what won the game. The deke/shot was just icing on the cake.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

You can see Pasta pick up the dump in angle as he’s coming across the blue line and realizes it’s wide open for him.

Maybe that pass bounced like that because he knew his own rink, but the puck couldn't have come out of the corner more perfectly. I wonder how many times it does that in 10 tries.
I'd give Pasternak a lot more credit. His 5-hole deke was a gem and that was a goal scorer's goal. He's the last guy in black who Toronto wanted to see with the puck. If it were Charlie Coyle, the shot would have missed wide left. 😆
I'm not taking anything away from Pasta. However that pass was picture perfect. That set up the deke that Pasta is born to make.

A great play is made and sports fans will argue about which player deserves more credit. What difference does it make? It was a great play by both players involved that included perfect timing and execution.
Dammit.
Same… Was hoping for a Toronto/Edmonton Cup Final or even a Toronto/Vancouver. Last all Canada Cup Final, 1989, Calgary/Montreal. Edmonton/Vancouver Western Conf. Final???
Now to Dallas putting Vegas to rest tonight.
Keep your stick on the ice...
It’s all Rangers for me now. The whole western side of the bracket can just go away. 😁
I'm okay with New York or Carolina...probably with a lean toward the Canes.
I'm a fan of that Edmonton power-play machine and would love to see them break through. It's probably a pipe dream but they would be my number one for winning the Cup.
Don't like Dallas, Vegas, or Colorado.
I don't pay much attention to NHL cap rules but how do so many of these teams load up with marquee players for the playoffs?
Salary cap doesn't matter in the playoffs, IIRC.
And for the haters on Leafs Elimination Day, I'd love for Edmonton to win, or even Montreal.

NHL salary cap is fairly easy to manipulate. Not having anyone that understands it is easily the Wild's biggest problem.I'm okay with New York or Carolina...probably with a lean toward the Canes.

I’m in the camp of wanting a team from Canada, especially Toronto winning the Cup as much as the Gophers winning the Nat’l Championship. Both Canada and Gophers need to win one sooner than later.

Good-bye Vegas!!!

No horse in the race…
1) Edmonton
2) Vancouver
3) NY Rangers
4) Florida
501) Carolina
502) Colorado
503) Dallas
504) Boston
Though it’s fun to troll on Boston’s twitter ripping Charlie Coyle and seeing the meme of Brad Marchand.

As a (retired) Devils fan, I could never root for the f*ing Rangers (or Flyers).

I thought it was not getting average goaltending... 😉
What is very frustrating is seeing the number of middle 6 (and lower) players, who are 30+ that the Wild have locked up in multi-year NTC/NMC deals.
Colorado has 4 Forwards on NMC/NTC deals, all are younger than 30. Vancouver has 2 forwards, 31 and 29. Florida has 4 with ages of 26, 28, 28 and 35 (goalie).
The Wild have Forwards with ages of 36, 32, 31, 33, and 29 all with NMCs going into next year. Defenseman who are 34, 30, and 22 with NMC/NTCs, and a 40 year old goalie with an NMC. And of all those guys, NONE of them are top line players! MAF is not a starting goalie. Brodin is probably a top pairing D on several teams, but Spurgeon isn't and Bogosian is NOT. Zuccarello only top line due to his relationship with Kaprizov.
Colorado's NMC are to guys like MacKinnon, Rantanen, Nichushkin, etc. Franchise players. Not guys like Marcus freaking Johansson, Freddy Gaudreau, 3rd line player Marcus Foligno. Florida's are to their top 2 forwards, their top D, and starting goalie. Not middle 6 players.
Edmonton has some questionable NMCs, but at least has McDavid and Draisaitl on NMCs long term, not Ryan McLeod or Adam Henrique.
There was also clearly a way out of the Suter deal that involved less pain that the Wild are currently dealing with. But I guess the buyout was "easier". I don't get the impression the Wild actually care about building a contending team. They seem to want a team just good enough to make the playoffs, maybe, if they get lucky and nobody gets hurt.
Flexibility is how these teams load-up. Not locking up 9 roster sports (about half the team!) to guys in the lower half of your line up on the wrong side of the age curve.
EDIT: Kaprizov and Ek have NMCs kicking in starting next season. So bring the total to 11 on the Wild. Those 2 players are probably the only ones deserving of a NMC at this point.

Would’ve been a joke if Chicago got the #1 pick.

Just turned on OT between Canes and Rangers. Is it me or is the ice brutal?
I know MSG hosted the Knicks and Pacers yesterday night.
Pretty soft call on Skjei to bring on the 2OT winner.

Eh, didn’t seem terribly hard to me. Nothing compared to what guys get in front of the net without calls being made.
The refs wanted to go home I bet. But they seemed rather inconsistent in what they did and did not think was a penalty all night anyways.

the NHL made a new rule if you get the the #1 choice in the draft you would not be allowed to be #1 in the draft for 4 years

I saw it more of an even up call. Carolina got a PP in OT, then NY was to get one.

I believe the rule was that a team cannot win it more than twice in a 5-year period. It was a really recent change.
Teams can't move up in the draft more than twice in a 5 year period. Since thos years draft went as it was supposed to, no teams are affected by the rule.I believe the rule was that a team cannot win it more than twice in a 5-year period. It was a really recent change.
According to the letter of the rules, yes, but I'm with Messier on this one. So many times a hard push with the back of one hand looks like a crosscheck when it isn't. I don't think he even got him that hard. Besides, that exact play happens a hundred times a game in front of the net and during puck scrums. Defensemen know that a well-time shot on the back of the breezers is enough to knock a guy off balance.Pretty soft call on Skjei to bring on the 2OT winner.
It was a crosscheck to the lower back.
