Seattle will host the Winter Classic next year vs Vegas at T Mobile Park, the home of the Mariners.
What a joke... though it's better than the same 2 of 8 teams every year.

OK. Love how the Bruins and Penguins did their walk-in to Fenway. Came in wearing old-school Red Sox/Pirates unis

Walker Duehr is the 1st player who was born in South Dakota to play and score a goal in the NHL. The Sioux Falls native played college at Kato.

Didn't want to start a new thread, but RIP Gino Odjick. Loved that guy. Total beast.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Relate… It’s like when I see a born and raised Montanan make it big time. They are few and far between, similar to South Dakota.

Did the Blues make this trade because they have a GREAT scorer coming in Snuggy (hopefully after at least playing a second season for the Gophers?
Why would you trade Tarasenko? There has to be something going on here we don’t know about.
I know COL doesn’t have Makar but TB is steamrolling them. Has there been a better team in any sports at manipulating the cap than TB?
It reminds me of us trading Kevin Fiala. Tarasenko is going to be a free agent.
He's a pending UFA that had zero interest in being in St. Louis after they F'd up numerous shoulder surgeries. Why would you trade Tarasenko? There has to be something going on here we don’t know about.
Flames are losing to the Coyotes 2-1 regardless of outshooting them 29-7.
Edit: Change those figures to 3-1 and 31-8.
Things didn’t stay topsy-turvy. Flames up 6-3 now. Shots are 52-13.
Meant to post this earlier in the season, but a change I like to see in the NHL.
- If you score on a delayed penalty, the penalty is still accessed and you still get to go on the power play. It works for the NCAAs.

The fact that NJ didn’t have to give up the likes of Hughes, Nemec or Holtz is crazy to me.
Meier has an interesting contract that made his trade value a little sketchy. Even though he will be an RFA at the end of the year, Jersey will have to give him a qualifying offer of $10M to retain RFA status. If they aren't willing to make that offer, Meier becomes a UFA.The fact that NJ didn’t have to give up the likes of Hughes, Nemec or Holtz is crazy to me.
It's a great trade for New Jersey if they have reason to believe that Meier wants to re-sign with them long term. Otherwise, it could go sideways pretty easily.

NHL SO's... they need to make these players skate between the dots going down the ice. All this skating around is annoying.

Agreed. I liked what the USHL did one season, where they put a defender on the far blue and once the shooter touched the puck, the defender could start chasing. You still saw guys make some nice moves, but it eliminated the guys skating out to the boards at half the speed of smell, then meandering across the ice until the goalie slid out of position. That isn't hockey. But a breakaway with a defender chasing... that absolutely is.
Plus teams couldn't use the same D over and over, they would be gassed. So some tried to create matchups, etc. It was an improvement in my mind, but I don't think it stuck around.
Sounds like a great way to get your goaltender murderedNHL SO's... they need to make these players skate between the dots going down the ice. All this skating around is annoying.

The games I was involved with where that format was used, it wasn't an issue. In fact I can only recall one instance where a D actually caught up to the player. I am not saying it would never be an issue, just saying it wasn't for the ones I witnessed.
Ultimately it didn't stick around, I don't know the specific reasons, but people smarter than me decided it was better to eliminate that. I know there were a few cases of Defenders tripping and hooking players and then having to redo the shoot anyway. At some point it kind of defeats the purpose of it. It was interesting and I am glad a league somewhere at least tried to improve it, even if it didn't result in any changes long term.
I don't necessarily have an answer, but the Patrick Kane shootout moves are annoying. Sure, I say this as a former goalie, but I know there are more than just goalies who agree with it.
@fightclub30 I think that would be an improvement. To eliminate the trip/holding, they could make it a goal, if there is a penalty.
At this rate, will there be any players left to trade on trading deadline day?

Surprised no one has brought this up. Multiple sources are stating the NHL is looking into expansion. Cities in the rumor mill include Austin, Houston, Lowell, Worcester, and Atlanta.
I have to believe that someone has brought up moving the Coyotes as part of this.
Expansion? Owners just can't get out of their own way.
Atlanta???
This time is definitely the charm for Atlanta, I can feel it...
