Kinda wonder if they should just make everything reviewable (PI and other penalties, onside kicks, whatever) but coaches get the same amount of challenges as they currently do. I don’t think this would have any negative consequences.
This is fantastic!

Since 2019 Vandy had 2 SEC wins.
#2 Georgia lost to Alabama, #1 Alabama lost to Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt lost to Georgia State.
Does this mean Georgia State is the new #1 team? 🤔
This is Vandy's first win ever against the #1 team.
The SEC the conference of mediocrity!!!! 😀
Vanderbilt entered Saturday's game with an 0-60 mark against AP top-5 opposition. Its 60 consecutive losses against those opponents were the longest such streak in the AP poll era, dating to 1936.
Alabama becomes the fourth No. 1 team in the AP poll era to lose a game to an unranked opponent the week after a win over a top-2 ranked opponent. Such a result hadn't occurred since 1960, when the Minnesota Golden Gophers fell to the Purdue Boilermakers.
Big payday/fines for the SEC today both Vandy and now Arkansas will be sending checks to SEC conferences for fans rushing the field.
Keep your stick on the ice...
5 of the top 11 teams lost today. 4 of them to unranked teams and other one was to #25.
5 of the top 11 teams lost today. 4 of them to unranked teams and other one was to #25.
Unfortunately, some of those 5 of the top 11 (cough-cough Alabama) probably won’t slide to far since such a stir of upsets this weekend.

Now Cal is stomping Miami. Weird day.
Edit: Miami wakes up just after I post that and come back to win 39-38 after being behind 35-10 halfway through the third quarter.
Cal at home was up 35-10 in the middle to late 3rd quarter but Miami ended the game out scoring them 29-3 to win 39-38 with TD drives of 75, 75, 70, and 92 yards. That is 312 yards in a quarter and a half. 😲
Wow, that was a very "Masonesque" final 22 minutes or so for Cal.
The coaching goat giving the other team bulletin broad material after complaining for years about his players doing things like this is priceless.

Fb trying to troll Georgia by posting Kirby Smart is going to the Jets after season… lol!!!
Keep your stick on the ice...
Wow.
But that stop at the halfway point to have White Castle was lit though.
South Carolina at Alabama just had a nearly 9 minute TD drive to start the 2nd half taking a 19-14 lead. They have scored 19 straight points against Bama.
South Carolina leads in total yards 257 to 142. Bama is 1 for 6 on 3rd downs.
South Carolina committed two turn overs in the first half or the lead would be bigger.
Alabama certainly has the fire power to pull this game out but they have looked REALLY bad over the past 4+ halves being out scored 86-60 against Georgia, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina.
It’s hard to comprehend how bad Athan K is.
You're not impressed by his 7 of 24 for 69 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT? 😯
It’s hard to comprehend how bad Athan K is.
He had like 6 good quarters as a Gopher...he has tools but no head for the game and no touch. Plus that sidearm motion is atrocious. He needs to sit for a season and fix everything.
Funny thing is whiny Gopher fans said KC being at Rutgers would turn him into what we expected him to be. (KC recruited him here) Sounds like that isn't happening.
lol USC… up 14 vs. Penn State and lose by 3 in OT at the Coliseum.
Keep your stick on the ice...
This Ducks-Bucks game is living up to the hype.

This is what happens when you have traditional Big 18 match ups like this. 😉
I am not a fan of large conferences where there are sooooooo many teams resulting in only playing half of the conference teams each year and not playing certain conference opponents for multiple years in a row. Plus conference schedules are so unbalanced between teams (the luck of the draw) that it will have a huge affect on who makes the conference champion game.
On the positive side I am enjoying the matches of historical Big Ten teams vs. historical PAC 10/12 teams. It's like dozens of Rose Bowl games. 😀
In the end I guess it is a case of with change often times there are trade offs and this is the case with the new conference alignment.
This Ducks-Bucks game is living up to the hype.
OSU needed 1 more second to give their gf kicker a chance.

Army AND Navy are both ranked.
South Carolina is up 32-3 late 2nd quarter at Oklahoma. The Sooners will soon be 1-3 in the SEC.
#16 Indiana is up 35-7 against Nebraska in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Indiana is about to be 7-0 (4-0 in the Big 18).
From a few years ago, but fitting for today.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Indiana beat Nebraska 56-7 😮
Indiana scored 4 TDs with their back up QB.
Good news, we don’t have to play IN this year. Bad news, we have to go to IL. They’re looking good against MI today.

Doesn’t matter if they are good or not, they’re coached by Bielema. Automatic L.

The usual suspects, Texas, Georgia, sorta Bama, and....Indiana?????

Wasn't Nebraska ranked at some point?
They were ranked today, and I think higher ranked....

Stripes make a bad call in the Georgia/Texas and fall to the itemization and losing control of the crowd be reversing the call.
Keep your stick on the ice...
If it was a bad call why shouldn't it be reversed?
If it was a bad call why shouldn't it be reversed?
Non reviewable and after a couple minutes of cleaning the field from litter, the replay being played over and over on the Jumbotron… the stripes huddle up and reverse the call.
It was a missed call, you can’t reverse the call after seeing the replay on a non reviewable play and the itemization of the crowd.

Iowa loses for the 3rd time while Iowa State comes back from 14 points down to stay undefeated.
g-manpuck is not going to be a happy camper.
Georgia goes to #1 Texas and beats them 30-15.
Tennessee gives Alabama their second lose and drops them into a three way tie for 8th place at 2-2 in conference play.
There is no undefeated team left in the SEC. There are three undefeated teams left in the Big 18 (Oregon, Penn State, and Indiana).
Who had Indiana undefeated longer than everybody in the SEC?
The top three teams in tomorrow's polls could Oregon, Penn State, and Ohio State (who's only loss is by one point at Oregon who will be the new #1).
I predicted the Texas loss, and I don't even watch college football anymore outside the Gophers. Same as it ever was...
(I also said Bama is in line for a another run of mediocrity because NIL has taken away a lot of their advantages)
Still not interested in watching though 😉
g-manpuck is not going to be a happy camper.
Yeah...not happy for sure. State fans are just
While Hawkeye fans are all
Iowa fans knew very early in the season that Cade McNamara sucked but we didn't think he could get worse but he does. The surprise of the season is that the defense is just awful, they have given up an average of 400+ yards the last three games. Yes there are injuries but the missed tackles and terrible coverage by the DB's is getting worse. With nothing to play for the rest of the season Ferentz will ride out McNamara rather than give any meaniful snaps to Brendan Sullivan who "should" return next year as the starter. The only game that is worth winning here on out is Nebraska which will not be appointment television.
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!
Rutgers running the Philly special but to the left…brilliant!!!
Ohio State at home scores a TD with 6 minutes left to eek out a 21-17 win over Nebraska. Last weekend undefeated Indiana beat Nebraska 56-7 scoring 4 TDs with their back up QB. Time to rank Indiana ahead of Ohio State. 😀
This week Ohio State was ranked #4 and Indiana was ranked #13.
Indiana is 5-0 in the Big 18 and 8-0 overall. All of their wins are by 14 or more points.
Their last 4 games are at Michigan State, vs. Michigan, at Ohio State, vs. Purdue. Win 3 of the 4 and they could definitely make the 12 team playoff with an 11-1 record.

Brad Johnson says "That's nothing I can do that cutting out the middle man." The video plays if you click on the Watch on YouTube link.
Penn State RB just scored a TD. Blows out his "finger guns" and puts them in the "holster". No penalty.
Could've sworn simulating weapons was a penalty now... Not if you're a ranked, helmet school team I guess.

Come on refs don't make mistakes. Are you going to get kicked out of the refs union for criticizing a fellow ref? 🤣 😀 The inconsistencies like you are pointing out is certainly a fair criticism I am just having some fun with you.
Obviously being a ref is a very tough job and they never get credit for doing it well and always get criticized for any call that is sort of questionable. Plus with every game having two teams/fans that have competing interests the calls are never going to make everybody happy.
The rule has been kind of iffy this year, but the technical rule is:
"Inciting an opponent or spectators in any other way, such as simulating the firing of a weapon or placing a hand by the ear to
request recognition"
To me, blowing out finger guns isn't simulating firing a weapon, but neither is the Minnesota penalty where he lifts up shirt. So I really don't know.
Rule 9, section 2, a, c
Kirk Ferentz must have been hit in the head last week as he decided to split up the QB work between two QB's and low and behold the one that hasn't been stinking it up all season did better! Who would have thought? Still this is Kaleb Johnson's team and how well it plays depends on how well they can make holes for him to run through. Special Teams showed up as well but I'm not buying into the play of the defense, they still worry me. I want to beat the damn Badgers this weekend but I have no idea what Iowa team will show up.
(*Edit) After listening to my usual Monday morning podcasts I found out that McNamara was taken out of the game rather than split time like what was talked about going into the game. I didn't listen or watch the game so I didn't know for sure what happened since I was more focused on the wonderful North Shore weather instead of this jeckyl/hyde Iowa football team.

Well "blowing out 'finger' guns" is only something you'd do after they've been fired so whereas lifing your shift could be for "look at my abs"... 🤣
But yeah if they're going to call lifting the shirt imho the gun blowing has to also be called.

Well it was a great game by Iowa this weekend taking care of Bucky very handily. Cade McNamara was out with a concussion so Brendan Sullivan got the start and he led the Iowa Offense very effectively. Iowa ran for over 300 yards on Sconny which is impressive since on Iowa's last drive they ran the ball on every play and Sconny couldn't stop them. It was a great game to watch with Iowa playing very well.
Officiating was horrendous early on but leveled out as the game went on. Iowa was called on two penalties that I didn't know were penalties, both were "delay of game" on Iowa's defense. The first was called because Iowa's LB clapped before the snap supposedly to "simulate" the snap clap of the QB. That's crazy since there is NO WAY anyone on the field could hear a hand clap with as noisy as the fans were. The second penalty was another "delay of game" on the defense because the defensive lineman "abruptly shifted" before the snap, refs words not mine.
Anyway, it was a great win over Bucky.

I have seen the delay of game called on the defense in those cases of snap simulation. In the first case (LB clapping) it seems pretty blatant/obvious; but a late shift by a DL seems a bit hard to determine without seeing the video.
Though as a Gopher fan, any time Wisconsin loses it is a good day. Them getting crushed makes it even better.
Are you ready for the AP Poll #9 BYU vs. #8 Indiana playoff match up?
