I don't watch a ton of NHL hockey, and after catching a period here and there of the playoffs I'm reminded why. My dumb opinion, but the NHL just isn't that interesting a brand of hockey.
High level NCAA or good state tourney hockey is so much more enjoyable for me to watch than the pros.

Maybe it's just Wild / Dallas that sucks? The players are faster; I've seen a lot of really fast dump-and-chase hockey. Woof. Lots of big hits and good defensive structures, not a lot of excitement IMO.
Part of what makes NCAA hockey enjoyable to me is that the players are not perfect machines that make the perfect play at all times. There is always the chance of a break because anything can happen. That feels less true in the pros to me. Again, though, I hardly watch the NHL, so entirely possible I'm wrong.
EDIT: one of the reasons I like the olympic ice, especially on the pro level, is that it seems to disincentivize the 1-1-3 defensive trapping style that is easier to set up on a narrow ice sheet. If the NHL is small ice I think the Gophers should be too for a lot of reasons, but with that much speed and skill out there, I'd love to give offensive players more room to operate. Another probably dumb opinion.

That's the way I saw it. Foligno play was stupid, and 8 seconds later Dallas scored. It was a game that Minnesota was outmatched in all respects. They were never in it.
Pretty weak response to their loss on home ice. This team looked gassed and defeated halfway through the game.

the goaltending piece can’t be undersold. Massive difference when it takes an elite shot to beat most guys where you catch college guys out of position all the time. Add that to defenders that are bigger and faster with better structure/tighter checking, and there’s a reason the scoring gets tougher unless you have truly elite guys like Colorado or Edmonton or Boston. You can’t judge NHL scoring in the postseason against typical college play. It’s way more wide open in the regular season and tightens up in the playoffs just like college does

Seems like KK has to be hurt. If a healthy KK and Ek show up then they have a chance.
I've read elsewhere that KK is indeed not remotely close to full healed, but of course take that with a grain of salt. What you can actually see on the ice is that he doesn't remotely appear to be himself before he went out.
