So we’re thinking Stars in 4?

I think Gustavsson will have to outplay Oettinger by quite a bit for the Wild to win the series. Would also help a lot if Spurgeon and/or Brodin could show up for a playoff series at some point.

I don’t see Spurgeon ever being an impact postseason player, that’s the main reason I thought we should have traded him at the deadline.

I don’t think the Wild have much of chance WITH JEE. Without him…forget it.

My yearly complaint about late start times in the playoffs is due. I know it will never change but hopefully some year the Wild can make it deep enough where the start times are normal. It will likely be one period games for me. Thanks NHL.

You think 8:30 is late?

Yes I do. It would not be bad if it ended then ?  but to start it is past this old man’s bedtime. I normally get up right after 4 so I don’t see much after 10:15.

I’m not in my 20’s, 30’s or 40’s or one of the “step brothers” 8:30 puck drops are tough to get up at 5:00 I agree.

There’s no way I would allow my life to be structured so I have to get up at 4 or 5AM. F that. I had to get up at 6 a couple months ago to take my wife to the airport but that’s the only way.

To each their own. I feel way better and am more productive under the old early to bed, early to rise adage. I don’t see a lot of progress for me after 10 pm.

Back on topic, if JEEK can play I have to think that gives the Wild a big boost. Hopefully he isn’t too limited. I still think the Stars have an edge but I like our chances better.

The interview I heard with Guerin he said if “maybe if the series goes longer” so I’m not optimistic

Sounds like Gustavsson gets game 1. Faber is playing. Eriksson Ek is out tonight but is pretty much day to day at this point.

The Wild win if... The Wild's D can keep the high danger chances to a minimum and the Wild Power play starts clicking like it was a month ago. (maybe need Joel back by game 3 as well)

Dallas wins if... This becomes a high scoring series. They have more scoring depth than we do and will win 4-3+ games more often than we will.

This state needs a solid playoff run. The wild are good enough to do it, but I am not holding my breath.

Game time listed at 830. Puck drop at 850. Why don’t they just say 850?

Good for Fabre.  Says a lot that he’s getting to play in the playoffs for his 2nd NHL game.  Makes it feel more impressive he came back this past year.

It is actually Faber's 3rd game, but it is still very impressive.

Why are some College signings, like Faber, eligible for the playoffs, while others are not?  Does it have to do if they owned their rights prior to signing them, or if they were just "free agents"?

I had originally thought anyone who wasn't on your roster at the deadline wasn't eligible for playoffs...

Having the players rights before the trade deadline is exactly what it is.

So because we had his rights before the deadline, even though he wasn't on the roster?  He was in the system?

Different from guys like Folin and Wellman, that have been FA signings and weren't eligible (nor should they have played in the playoffs... haha)

Yep. That's why Ben Meyers wasn't allowed to play for Colorado in last years playoffs.

Correct. Colorado has recent examples of both.  Makar a few years ago came right in and played in the postseason. They had his rights long before the deadline that year. Compared to Meyers last year, who played a few games but had to stop when the postseason began because he signed as a FA when the Gopher season ended.

And MN got PPs as a result. Should probably have had one more when Boldy was tripped going to the net.

Hartman takes the first needless penalty, and Dallas scores immediately...

And a bad miss by Gus Bus.

The replay sucked, what the heck was the original whistle for?  The whistled it when DAL had the puck, I thought we might be getting a PP...

Went back and watched, BS penalty on Foligno. He slashed 55, 55 whacked him back and only Foligno got called. That’s why 55 had that shit eating grin on his face.

It was ridiculous that Foligno was the only one taken on that second one. Doesn’t mean you have to let them score instantly, though.

We've had more penalties called in the first half than we usually see in an entire series...
