They play the 1up sound from Mario loudly when one of their players comes out of the box and you’re still surprised?

High referee called that penalty on the Avs...  Looking at the initial replay, I sure wouldn't be happy if they called that on the Wild.

Evened it up with an even worse call.

And then they "ask the expert" and a former NHL referee proves that he has zero understanding of the sport of hockey. Yikes

I hated that explanation; "He knew what he was doing"

Yeah, standing stationary in the position he established.  Unless the attacker skates around him and uses him as a stationary pick I have no idea how that is interference.

Sad part is that's a blatant interference penalty on Cogliano. You're not allowed to skate through people

And Ek was standing ON the blueline waiting to go into the zone, what else is he supposed to do. And if your “expert” is just gonna back the refs no matter how shitty the call is then you’re wasting everyone’s time. Just let the 2 good analysts you already have do their job.

Steele scores while getting skewered.
Or pitchforked.
Your call….regardless it’s was uncomfortable.

I enjoyed the reasoning. “He knew what he was doing.”

So? That’s makes it smart, not illegal.

You would think he regretted that as soon as he said it but he’s a former NHL ref so….

It was technically too many, but he was literally touching the bench on his way out, not facing play, picking up a stick.  He had zero intention to be involved in the play, the puck inadvertently hit him, no advantage gained.  Good with the non-call in the end, but usually once its whistled they don't take it back.

Within 5' of the bench is generally out of play when puck isn't near.  When puck is in the direct area its a little gray and more judgement.

I can’t imagine what Deano does if Colorado scores on the last power play to tie it.

What a big win!!!  Huge!!!

I am very, very surprised.  I didn't think this team would score goals, and for a few months they didn't.  But they seem to have figured it out.

I thought MAF was on a downward spiral, but he also has figured it out.  I thought Gus would be capable backup at best... yeah, I was pretty wrong there.

I hated the Johansson pickup because he was garbage last time he was here.  He looks like a completely different player.

When Kirill went down, I figured we'd struggle to score anything and have to scratch and claw for the playoffs.  They are currently in better position than before Kirill went out.

Now PLEASE!!! make it out of the first round.  Please don't get embarrassed in the first round like most recent Wild teams.

They seem to be playing like a TEAM and not individuals, which should bode well for the playoffs.  They are also no longer relying on one player to score.  Hopefully we can keep scoring in the playoffs.

Mildly concerning that we hung on for dear life in most of the third, but Colorado is a great team and wanted this win just as bad as we did.

Shaw goes down awkwardly and needs help getting off the ice & into the locker room.  Almost looked like his skate caught between the edge of the ice and the boards, regardless it didn't look good. ?

Shaw has had multiple ACL surgeries already in his career. Although, the replay looked like it could be an ankle injury.

Board another teams best player with a crosscheck in the back, come out of it with a PP. Love officials that don't even  understand the sport.

The play on the third goal was exceptional. Boldy effortlessly stepped around a guy on the entry and made a quick backhand saucer pass only to get an even better return pass from EE. Elite skill demonstrated on the play.

Wild go into a shell with about five minutes left, pay for it. Gus absolutely terrible in the shootout after. Still haven’t clinched.

All true but some of the Wild’s shootout attempts were horrible as well. I always thought Spurgeon had slick mitts and would have sent him after EE.

This is the kind of game KK could have made the difference. He's probably good for a goal in regulation, OT, or the shootout.

100% agree. I think we’re a team nobody wants to get in round 1. Playing great hockey without our best weapon.

Kirill back for tomorrow's game, Eriksson Ek week to week, Sundqvist day to day, Rossi could be getting called up to the Wild sometime in the next couple days.

Iowa plays at Chicago tonight and the Wild play at Chicago on Monday so an Iowa forward or two is likely to stay in Chicago after playing there tonight and could be getting called up for the Wild's Monday night game.

If Sundqvist can't play tomorrow it sounds like the Wild will go with 11 forwards and 7 defensemen for one game (Saturday at home against St. Louis).

Russo had multiple tweets today that covered the things mentioned above.

As much as I’d like to, I think I will NOT be acquiring a Faber Wild jersey.   Any idea what number will he be?

@cowgirl I'm probably in the minority but I think he plays more games in the AHL than the NHL over the next couple years.

That’s probably more a function of what the rest of the d-core looks like but with their cap situation next year a good cheap defensemen may get a spot out of necessity.

The Faber that played most of the last two seasons wouldn't spend much time at all in the AHL. The Faber of the last month or so, isn't playing in the NHL

Inexplicably, the Gopher defense last night did not figure in any of the offense. Can barely remember any of the defenseman going vertical...not just Faber.

Faber will be fine in the NHL. J3 makes the smart play and is eminently trainable.

Per Russo,

Faber in the Wild lineup tonight, paired with Goli

also, Rossi in. Dumba as the 7th D

I posted in the other thread but Russo had a picture of Brock’s MN bag with all the Wild gear in Chicago. It was really cool and I am just going to go on believing that he chose to carry that bag as a little nod to his history. I don’t believe an NHL team didn’t have an extra branded bag available.

That is what the team site has listed for rostered players.

Thanks for posting the pick, gopher6. Probably took me 10 years on the old site to figure out how to post pictures so it could be awhile yet.
