Talbot is a cry baby for getting butt hurt over the playoffs.
The actual numbers
Talbot 11-0-1 2.25 .925
Fleury 9-2 2.74 .910
Talbot is a "cry baby" because Guerin called him out in the press, and then when Talbot did exactly what Guerin told him to do, he still started Fleury in the playoffs.

I gave Talbot's Wild stats for all of last season not just the last 6 weeks of the season.
The Wild are obviously better off with how things turned out, and I can't really say that I miss Talbot. It just seems kind of shitty to make Talbot out to be the ass in how it all played out. And it's just flat out wrong to say that Guerin had it all planned out. Hell, he's still putting Fleury ahead of the team and the "its all about winning" BS this year.
Guerin clearly was looking to replace Talbot as the #1 goalie last year. Talbot didn't like getting replaced. Nobody likes to be replaced.
Why did the Wild start the inferior goalie in the playoffs last year?
Even better question. Why has the leagues 2nd best goalie played 29 games for the Wild this season while Fleury has played 37? Maybe Talbot and his wife were just smart enough to get out in front of the problem.

I 100% agree the choice of Fleury last year and this year is puzzling. Talbot looked better last year and Gus this year. Clearly Guerin sees some intangible leadership, etc in Fleury. I disagree with it and to me is the one glaring mistake by Guerin..
That said, overall I think Guerin has done a pretty good job. So happy he dumped Parise and Suter.
Guerin had every intention of playing the season with Fleury and Talbot as his goalies
As Jack Ramsey would say...
I hope they send Tablot's wife a case of wine when the playoffs start. Billy was absolutely going to be fine with Fleury and Talbot as his goalies until the social media/draft day confrontations went down.
FWIW I don't know how they could have figured out a way to sign Fiala and Boldy to make the cap work in 23-24, and I think long term that Boldy, Faber and a No. 1 pick are as good looking to Kaprizov's UFA year as Fiala and whatever they could have gotten for Boldy though.
You really are going to die on this hill aren't you? Talbot was good but hardly great.
What hill is that? Where did I ever say that the Wild miss Talbot? in fact, I remember saying this summer that my opinion was that it would be a bad idea to have both Fleury and Talbot on the team. That having that much locked up in goaltending would be a bad idea for a cap strapped team. I'm sure I was probably just a "hater" for that opinion as well.
All I did tonight was point out that trading Talbot was not Guerin's intention, and that Talbot (and his wife apparently) really aren't the aholes of the story.

Doesn't his insistence on starting Fleury over Talbot back up the idea he wanted to get rid of Talbot? You don’t have to "showcase" a player of Talbot's tenure to trade him.
It's no secret Guerin has a chubby for Fleury. And I think most Wild fans wanted to see Talbot play in the playoffs last year. If you look back I am sure nearly everyone on this board was dumbfounded that Talbot sat until the last game, when it was all but over.
J22 is right that Guerin was saying he intended to play both Fleury and Talbot. But I think, based on how last season ended, Talbot was going to play second fiddle to Fleury. There seemed to be a rift between Guerin and Talbot that wasn't going to get resolved. Even if Guerin intended to keep Talbot, it never appeared he would let him have a chance at the #1 position. Too much salary to ride the pine.
When the rift gets so big that your spouse gets involved online, that's usually irreparable. I think that would be so even in most mainstream jobs.
A while back a gal who reported to me took a liking to one of my coworker friends. He seemed to fancy her as well. I never knew if they did anything more than flirt but one day his wife figured out there likely was more happening.
The gal who reported to me said she got a call from my friend’s wife who claimed she was coming to work to kick her ass. I had to sit my friend down to explain how that might be a career limiting move.
Eventually things either worked themselves out, or at least moved off site. Spouses can affect employment.
Markstrom was awesome, in the third especially. I didn’t think the Flames really deserved one point, let alone two. But…
As a team, no, they did not deserve a point. But Markstrom pretty much handed them that win. The Wild, on the other hand, had every kind of bad puck luck imaginable. They had over 40 shots on goal, and a fair number of them were point blank.
It was actually a pretty good game.
The stuff the opposition gets away with against KK is just unbelievable. He can handle it, but good grief, the hooking and after the whistle stuff just goes uncalled.
After the past two games it's safe to say Kaprizov is now free game. No amount of mauling, jumping, slashing, etc. will elicit a call.

Not that I saw but it was a close game to the end and the points were far more critical than a revenge penalty.

Every now and then you have to make a point or guys will continue to cheap shot Kaprisov. As of now it appears they know there will be no retribution so long as the game is close.
No need for Reaves to be on this team if he’s going to let this stuff go unpunished.
Just a hunch, but I think a player knows if his coach wants him to lay off or send a message. With the game in the balance, Deano wants the win. A late penalty wouldn't help that.
Aside from the no call on the KK injury, refs were bent on home cooking tonight.
Hope I'm wrong but that KK injury looked bad. I know someone who tore his adducter muscle that way, which would be season ending...and so it would be the Wild ? I don't think he even tried a shift afterwards.

I think every coach in the league would be more than willing to trade 2 points to send the message that anyone who messes with his star player, is likely to spend time in a hospital.
That's the only reason guys like Reaves even have a roster spot.

And it's not even trading 2 pts. Its giving a PP to the other team, which is what, 25% effective for scoring? Now Kaprisov is hurt so.... yeah, that's going to cost the team more points in the long run if he misses games.
From one of the Wild beat writers. Wild are off today and don't have practice. He doesn't seem to think there will be an update on #97 today. That said, I'm sure Russo is hiding out behind #97's house trying to get any info.
While not great news his injury certainly could have been much worse (torn ligament/season ending). If he misses four weeks (12 games) he would be back for the final 5 games of the regular season.
Yes finishing higher is nice but in the end the most important thing is making the playoffs. Calgary & Nashville are currently 9 & 10 (first two teams out of the playoffs).
Wild have 81 points - 65 games played (17 games left)
Calgary has 71 points - 65 games played (17 games left)
Nashville has 69 points - 61 games played (21 games left)
If the Wild continue to play well defensively and/or get the good goal tending they've been getting lately in four weeks they should still be in a good place to make the playoffs.
