This LSU vs Wake Forest CWS game is a beauty. Paul Skenes and Dylan Crews (LSU) both figure to be in the top 3 of the upcoming draft, Rhett Lowder for Wake figures to be top 15. Skenes has gone 8 IP with 2 hits allowed. Lowder went 7 with 3 hits allowed.
LSU 1B Tre Walker made a potentially game saving play on a squeeze attempt that was just ridiculous.
Have to imagine if Skenes or Crews fall to the Twins at #5 they will laugh their way to the podium. Likely other top 3 pick Wyatt Langford of Florida is waiting for the winner of this game.
Crews has a slash line of .434/.576/.735.
Skenes, before tonight's 8 innings of shutout ball, had 114 IP with 200 Ks and only 19 walks (which is INSANE). His 120th pitch was clocked at 100mph tonight.
The atmosphere helps, of course. Other than that (haven't looked at the box score) but maybe Otani is just crushing it? 😉 He leads the team in EVERY category. And I mean every category.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
The Angels have had what may go down as the two greatest baseball players in the history of the game for the last 6 years and made 0 playoff appearances barring a turnaround this season or an unexpected return of Ohtani.
I've been enjoying playing the Immaculate Grid for a week or so now. I'm usually good for 4-5 squares. I have gotten all 9 once. It's easier when the Twins are one of the teams. Took a few days to get the hang of it.
Visited my 11th (current) MLB ballpark last Friday to watch the Red Sox/Blue Jays game at Fenway Park. Blue Jays fans travel extremely well. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I saw way more Blue Jays jerseys than Red Sox jerseys. It was almost sold out, and I'd estimate it was at least 50% Jays fans.
I'm sure a lot of you have been to more ballparks than I have, but here's how I would rank the 11 I've been to:
Braves defense gives up only a field goal in a 21-3 victory over the Mets. ? ? ?
I think going for 2 after the TD in the 9th was a little over the top, but that's just me.
Is Bret Bielema now the Atlanta manager? ?
Apparently Atlanta wanted black jack (21). Oh no more gambling in sports.
This was a make up game from April 29th so I wonder if the Mets pitchers didn't get word of this and due to them not showing up the Mets had to use coach pitch.
So pretty rare with the kind of volume of work Schwarbers at unless your name is Mark McGwire. One that caught my eye was Hall of Fame pitcher Don Drysdale’s 1958 season with seven home runs and six singles.
I'll never understand baseball in celebrations on the clubhouse...
They celebrate and crack the champagne for clinching the post season... why?
They celebrate and crack the champagne for winning the Wild Card Series... why?
They celebrate and crack the champagne for winning the Divisional Series... why?
They celebrate and crack the champagne for winning the Division Championship... why?
They celebrate and crack the champagne for winning the World Series... understandable?
For me, I understand the champagne for clinching the post season. It's a long grind and celebrate that. Baseball used to be the toughest sport to make the playoffs as only 4 teams from each league made it. It has become easier with 6 teams from each league.
I agree on the other ones. Teams used to win one game in the wild card playoff and it was champagne showers. Two more games, another party. Save that for winning the whole thing.

:Acuna creating his own 40-70 club is absolutely insane. :
A good accomplishment, but the bases are 4.5 inches closer now. All of those close plays at 2nd where the player was out turned into being safe. And knowing so, the good base stealers will try and succeed more often. Overall, there were a lot more stolen bases this year. I'm glad we had one of the better ones.
