B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
This is interesting.
Interesting idea.
If there’d been any base runners since the dirt was last dragged I’d be nervous to do that.
But I’m also not Alex Bregman soooo. ?♂️
Not only the dirt situation possibly causing a weird bounce but wouldn't it slow down the start to finish timing?
Mets closer Diaz injures knee celebrating WBC win, out for year
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Pulling a Gramatica would be if he got injured celebrating in the 2nd inning.
I still can't believe Gramatica injured himself celebrating making a field goal in the 1st quarter that put his team up 3-0. Settle down it's early buddy.
OTSS! ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE!

The game tonight between Mexico and Japan was highly entertaining. Arozarena for Mexico had a couple of great defensive plays. Japan with the comeback to face US tomorrow night. Should be fun.
The SP Japan had today is going to make a boatload of money when he comes to the MLB. He is an absolute stud.
I'll be honest I don't know much about him, but looking at the box score I'm not sure it pops that much.
4IP, 5H, 3ER
The kid threw consistently over 100 mph (I don't think he had one pitch under 100). I only remember 3 of the hits he gave up, 2 of which were bloopers to the opposite field (1 would have been a routine ground ball to 3rd, but the infield was in a shift). Then next guy hit a 3 run HR on the one pitch he hung.
Sounds like he has a variety of sliders too.

4IP, 5H, 3ER
Two of those hits were infield singles (well, I guess one of them got to the outfield grass but it was a slow roller against the shift, guy hit it off the end of the bat and rolled it right to where the 3B would normally be standing) and a third one was a jamshot blooper that landed just out of reach of the 3B. He made one killer mistake, leaving a splitter up in the zone to Urias with 2 outs and he mashed it for a 3 run HR.
Last year as a 20 year old in the Japanese professional league he threw a perfect game and followed it up with 8 more perfect innings before being removed from the game with the perfect game in tact.
Of the first 20 fastballs he threw last night, 19 of them exceeded 100mph. I believe when all was done, 26 of the 29 he threw were > 100mph.
Then he's got these:

I believe he won't be eligible to come to the USA until 2026 so obviously it will depend on how healthy he can stay in Japan.
We’ll see how much work this ump gets this season. ?

Don't you just love when Umpires/Referees decide the game should be about them?
Particularly when the announcers mention the last time they needed a new ball, the umpire threw it to the pitcher himself, so the catcher just figured he was going to again when he didn't feel the ball in a normal amount of time.

Haven’t tried it yet but apparently T-Mobile users get this season of MLB.TV for free. Has to be redeemed by next Tuesday.
Of course no OOM games so still no Twins.
I've taken advantage of this perk the last 3 seasons. It's a nice perk. Watched a couple of games this afternoon already.

I will def have to check this out! Thanks for the tip!
Edit: looks like app-only. Guess I can't do that deal. ?

Yes you have to use the MLB app and I had limited success casting it to my Chromecast even tho it’s supported.
Watched the Mariners game with my brother from Seattle and we had a thought on the 2:14 minute home opener: I wonder how the vendors feel about this…
If you have a smart TV see if the the MLB app is supported on it. I know Amazon Firestick, Google Cast and the xFinity Flex devices have the MLB app. I use those to watch on my TV.
You could also go the mlb.tv route on your computer as well (no app needed).

Yep MLB app on Roku works great.
Hey, it could be worse. The NHL makes you try to kill a penalty after they F up the review. Why have review?

I mean, wow. But also, what exactly are we supposed to do with this information, Cleveland?
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
They A's will surpass the Braves as the MLB team with the most Frequent Flyer miles.
Philly to KC to Oakland to Vegas (?) >> Boston to Milwaukee to Atlanta

"Partially retractable roof" ??? Guessing that means it closes all the way, but when open still covers at least part of the seating area?

35,000? Seems a little small for a new stadium, or is this the norm now and I just haven’t been paying attention?
That is at the very small end. Will be the second smallest, it looks like (Progressive in Cleveland is just under 35K)
37-42,000 is where most MLB parks come in.

For baseball, and the way the attendance is going, it seems about right. Cleveland just retrofitted their stadium to about 35,000. Miami, KC and Fenway are at about 38,000. Target Field is about 39,000.

Vegas A’s stadium will be a dome with 30k seats
Aloha!
This article has several renderings of the proposed stadium. It looks to be a fixed roof over the seats from the left field foul pole through home plate and over to the right field foul pole. The outfield portion would be retractable with a glass roof and wall."Partially retractable roof" ??? Guessing that means it closes all the way, but when open still covers at least part of the seating area?
It would be cool to have visibility through the wall and roof when closed as I would expect it to be closed most of the season. I'd be curious if they'd have enough sunlight to have natural grass or if they'd just go with turf. They'd have to have the roof open quite a bit to grow grass and it would be hard to cool that whole thing down again every day.
They could grow natural grass - it would be a giant greenhouse. ?
they could have the field like raiders have and roll it in and out to get sun on the grass
Aloha!
they could have the field like raiders have and roll it in and out to get sun on the grass
That was an unmitigated disaster for the super bowl this year. I like the concept, but man, they need a ton of work if that's "the best turf ever grown"
the Arizona Cardinals stadium has the same roll out to get sun for their grass field
Aloha!
That was my first thought too, but it doesn't appear to be an option form the renderings.they could have the field like raiders have and roll it in and out to get sun on the grass
Sounds like MGM purchased the Tropicana property and is donating a portion of it to the baseball team (will become state opperated after construction is complete). The rest of the property will be used to build another MGM building (casino?). So it doesn't sound like the baseball stadium will have a large footprint.

Yeah, that was the disaster I was talking about.
