Superior opening day victory for purple SKOL..but it was against the hapless GIANTS…Still a great day for Vikings! If Darnold plays competently, season should be entertaining! 👍

If that is the version we'll see of Darnold all year this could be a pretty fun season.

Defense was very solid and got a lot of pressure. Daniel Jones is still very bad.

This is Darnold's year to make or break. Bouncing around never does a QB any good, which he has done, he has the offensive weapons he needs, and a QB Whisperer coach.

That being said, if he makes it, he's gonna get paid, probably elsewhere, and if he doesn't do that great, he'll be the journeyman backup.

They could easily lose the next 7 games. If they can come out of the first 8 at .500 they’d give themselves a chance for the playoffs.

The "good" news is that Love is expected to be out 3-4 weeks...that 4th week they play MN.

The Vikings play the Packers week 4, so technically it’s the 3rd week of 4 that they’re estimating Love will be out of action.😉

SF is likely a loss, but if they play close to todays level, Houston at home & GB (less Love) at Lambeau both appear winnable. Then Jets are on road, Lions at home, Rams on road & Colts at home. So 4-4 start appears achievable to me.

The Giants were so bad it’s hard to draw any conclusions other than they’re in the running for the top pick. Next week will be a different story. Vikings do get a bit of a break with San Fran playing Monday night. It’s a little early in the season for that to matter too much, but it could still affect them. Defense played well, but again Jones was short hopping receivers all day.

Buddy asked our group today, "Are the Vikings playing well, or are the Giants sucking?" Universal answer: "Yes." And swear to God it happened in unison.

@snowcool08 Bottom line is they played a cupcake on the road and the game was never in question. That is all you can ask for, every team gets so many freebies & they can be blown as well. Vikes did their job and nice that they now have one less road game.

Both teams started the year with an over/ under on win at 6.5 games.  So it says something to smoke the Giants on the road.

Hopefully the Vikes are competitive next week.

The Vikings with another first down. Three 3rd down conversions on this drive all via Darnold passes.

I don’t think they meant for Chandler to run out of bounds after not being able to pass.

It’s a dbl edge sword. Yes run the ball, but it that halfback pass was completed for a TD… it would have been a great call.

If you’re having your running back throwing passes in the 4th of a close game you’re overthinking it.

Twice I thought the Vikings coughed up a major opportunity and gave the ball back to SF and allowed them to drive and score. The 2nd Quarter INT and the 3rd Quarter fumble. Good for the Vikings for not allowing for turnovers to be the doom of them.

Niners get a late FG but the Vikings beat the Niners 23-17!!!!

Clutch game clinching 6 minute drive ending with a short FG to make it a two possession game (23-14)

No Hockenson,

No Addison,

Lose Jefferson mid-way through the game...

No problem.

Whether the Vikings make the playoffs or not this season. The future is bright especially when they get JJ McCarthy back next season.

The defense is soooooooooooo much better then it was when Kwessi and Flores took it over.

Ill agree to disagree. Could’ve been a line read call by the QB.  Though it wasn’t near overthinking it.

SKOL! 😉 Screw da 49ers! Great late 4th Qtr (clutch) drive led by Darnold with the pressure on…stretching lead to 9 points, after Aaron Jones coughed up the ball going in for a TD & 49ers promptly responded with 99 yard scoring drive.

It has been 32 years since the 49ers won in Minnesota. The Vikings have beaten them 8 straight times at home!!!

San Francisco why do you even bother to make the trip? You can' beat the VIKINGS!!!!

SKOL VIKINGS LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lions lose to Tampa Bay at home.

If the Bears lose at the Houston Texans (Sunday night game) they are a 6 point underdog the Viking will be in solo first place.

If the Vikings ever gets a fair shack on injuries look out.

What an ABSOLUTE DIME by Sam Darnold!!!! 55 yards (he let it go 3 yards in his own end zone to the Niners 48 yard line) in the air and hits Jefferson right in stride which allowed him to run the last 48 yards into the end zone.

I'm going to paraphrase, but last week JJ had a long TD, and he said Sam let the ball go before JJ got separation, and JJ said that was a "trust throw." Akin to the old Randy Mah quote: Throw it up, dog, I'll get it."

Yep. Here is Jefferson talking about it after last week's game. I'm pretty sure this is the play he is talking about which is a perfectly placed pass by Darnold. The safety has Jefferson doubled over the top with the corner but Darnold throws it to the absolute perfect spot (aka throwing him open).

How about the wheels by that official (back judge?)!  And his ability to be in position to make a call, yet stay out of the way.  Thumbs up!
