Given the regular season starts in a week or so we may as well get this thread going.
I know ownership has indicated they don't want to spend 30 million on a free agent, but man..... Snell would look good here. Perhaps there is another Correa like splash left in this organization.

Just saying.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
My guess, and total rube take: pushed too hard as young'ns. Once a certain injury happens, more likely to suffer same injury again.

Modern athletes are build for speed more than durability. In the race for more production they have given up some durability.
Former player John Kruk said it best with "You can't pull muscles you don't have."
Athletes are no longer like durable vehicles they are more like sports car. Great when running well but more likely to break down.

[rubetake]I understand the arm issues pitchers run into. I get the oblique strains. Why are world class athletes getting hurt rounding bases?[/rubetake]
Provus said he looked like he expected the LF to cut the ball off and hold it to a single, then it got by him and Lewis overstretched and hit the base awkwardly.
Time for Pitlick or Moore to bag one.
Ugh. Bad defensive play in front of Close and UNO goes up 2-1
Wrong thread. lol

Oops
I blame Buxton and Royce Lewis if they weren't injured so much we would be beating Omaha. 😉
Quad strain the official injury for Lewis. 10 day IL trip but it sounds like its at least one month before they expect him to be able to start doing baseball activities again.
Austin Martin, top prospect acquired in the Berrios trade, called up to replace him.
It looked like he stretched to reach 2nd base at the turn. That often leads to an injury. My guess, and total rube take: pushed too hard as young'ns. Once a certain injury happens, more likely to suffer same injury again.
Twins score 1 in the 8th and 4 in the 9th to win 5-1 over KC.
Joe Ryan went 5.1 really quality innings, bullpen threw 3.2 innings of 2 hit ball.
Not an ideal start from Ober.
I like Bobby Witt Jr.’s future more than my own.
It would have been the Twins luck if Buxton would have been hurt by one of the Sausages...
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
You'd think by now Buxton would look both ways before entering a room full of puppies.
It's good to see he has a handler to pull him to safety when he randomly walks into traffic while looking the wrong way.
Kepler SUUUUUUCCCCKS! Maybe he can work a walk? NOPE! Leaves runners at 2nd & 3rd,& is the last out to end 3 different innings 🤣lll BRUTAL
I would add that Julien taking a called strike 3 with the bases loaded early in the game didn't help things.

Ober has not fooled anyone yet.

Ober settled down and Margot hits a two run dinger for the high powered twin offense.

Who the hell is Steven Okert and why is he on the Twins roster…
@mikeeruzione11 never heard of him, I walked by the tv and seen Jackson put one on a T for ohtani and kept going.
Maybe if pohlads raise the price of beer from 16.00 to 17.00 they can then afford to invest in some players in the off season to take themselves to the level they couldn’t beat the year before. That would take commitment to winning though.
Seasons over!
Who the hell is Steven Okert and why is he on the Twins roster…
The RP we got in the Nick Gordon trade from the Marlins.
He'd been very good in his first 2 outings but ran into some tough luck tonight. Gave up 3 hits on mostly soft contact (89mph and 88mph isn't like soft-soft but they are hardly barrels from guys like Ohtani and Freeman, then a jamshot single at 69mph from Smith).
Before tonight he'd given up 1 hit and 5 Ks in 2 innings.
Glad they traded the Taylor fella, he sucks.

And you conveniently left out the fact that Buxton made an unbelievable catch to save his bacon 😜
I don't think IG posts show up but this is a good look at how the Twins got completely screwed by the plate ump:
I think the 3 hits were on the first 5 pitches of the inning. It was brutal.Who the hell is Steven Okert and why is he on the Twins roster…

The Twins lineup getting absolutely embarrassed by Glasnow tonight. The team has 2 hits, both are doubles from Austin Martin. The rest of the team has 12 Ks in 6 innings. Glasnow has thrown 74 pitches in 6 innings with 12 Ks.

Did you put a chair down yet for the World Series parade??

To pick up a save against the Dodgers.
Okert has pitched 7 major league seasons with an ERA of 3.69
This season he has an ERA of 2.25
Every pitcher gives up a run once in a while. 😉
Julian hit two home runs.

I don't think this team is anywhere near a contender as it sits currently. They may win the division if they stay relatively healthy cuz the division is not good, but they need the guys who showed promise last year to figure it out.
Wallner is getting destroyed at the plate right now (12 Ks in 15 ABs). Kyle Farmer is hitless. Kepler was 1/20 before landing on IL. Santana is 4/32. Obviously its early and some of these things will even up, but Wallner has so far been unable to adjust to teams pounding him low and in and it has lead to some hideous at-bats. If they can't find an adjustment that works he may be on his way to AAA shortly. The problem is Larnach is on IL right now so they don't have much choice but to keep Wallner up and hope he can figure it out at the big league level, at least until Larnach is healthy.
Fortunately it appears the offseason was good for Correa to heal up, he's moving around much better than he did at any point last season.
The relay throw he made to the plate to cut down Ohtani was absolute perfection. You can't do it any better

Hopefully Lewis can come back 100% when he is activated because he adds so much that Farmer or any other replacement player cannot bring to the table. I seem to recall Kepler injured on opening day, but played through it until they shut him down. His 1-20 average may be more mirage and less reality if that was the case.

The only thing that can make me feel some solace in the Twins being just 4-6 right now, is their opponents have a combined .706 winning percentage. Shockingly the Dodgers have the worst winning percentage of the four teams the Twins have faced so far. The Twins record should even itself out soon.
Cle 9-3
Mil 8-3
KC 9-4
LAD 10-5
Carlos Correa left the game tonight after injuring himself on a check swing. Can't make it up.

We are going to have to refrain from making positive comments on the health of any Twins stars. The few that remain need to wear some bubble wrap on them.
Ryan Jeffers hits a game tying home run in the 8th inning and a go ahead single in the 11th. Austin Martin has two hits, 2 RBIs, and a key walk in the 12th inning. Matt Wallner hits a 3 run homer to cap a 7 run 12th inning.
Joe Ryan throws 6 innings giving up only 1 earn run and striking out 12.
The bullpen throws 6 innings giving up only 2 hits and no earned runs.
The other Tiger runs were caused by a Miranda error in the 1st inning that turned a 1, 2, 3 inning into 2 unearned runs along with the Tigers twice scoring the runner who starts at second in extra innings (11th and 12th innings).
Twins win 11-5
Twins win game two 4-1 to sweep the double header.
Julian and Castro hit home runs.
Simeon Woods-Richardson (23 years old) gets called up for the double header and throws 6 innings giving up only 2 hits and 1 run.
Cole Sands pitches 2 1/3 hitless innings to get up the save.
I’m pretty pissed at Farmer if I’m Jax.
I’d suggest no one follow any MN Sunday sports today.
I’m ready for this series in Baltimore to end.
