That seems like the earliest they've played in recent memory.

As we get closer to Iowa week, it will be important to brush up on some of the rules regarding returns.
I just love that someone took the time to set this up.

Max Brosmer lightin' it UP!!!!
14-20 for 195 yards in the 1st half.
Gophers up 20-0 at halftime.
Darius Taylor 80 yards to the house!!!!!
Gophers up 27-0 middle of the 3rd quarter.
This defensive line has been fun to watch so far. They are relentless.
Gophers opened as 3.5 point underdogs to Iowa. It has quickly got bet down to 2.5 points.
Like I mentioned after last weekend, I have no idea what to expect in this game. I haven't paid attention to what the Gophers are doing outside of the final scores of their games. So again I don't know what to expect from the Gophers. I also don't know what to expect from the Hawkeyes outside of Kaleb Johnson. Through three weeks he is the leading rusher in the nation which has helped drag Iowa's offense into the top 60 for total offense.
Iowa's bright spots are the rushing offense and rushing defense. Areas of concern; passing offense, passing defense, and special teams defense. Cade McNamara just isn't mobile enough and has made terrible decisions by looking off open players, passing to double coverage, and has NO touch on his passes at all. Iowa's DB's are suspect with giving up three pass TD's of over 60 yards so far this year. Special teams gave up a horrible punt return TD last weekend. Finally, Kirk Ferentz has made some very questionable coaching calls in his two games on the sidelines.
My gut is telling me this will be a game much like the Iowa State game. I'll call it a 20-19 Iowa win with Floyd coming home. Now...I can be convinced to switch my prediction very easily with some facts about the Gophers.

It's funny...I listened to a couple podcasts this week that feature very knowledgeable and long time Iowa fans that didn't realize that Gopher fans saw this game as a rivalry game. Even with the Floyd of Rosedale trophy most Iowa fans don't see this game as a rivalry game. I have been saying this for years but no Gopher fan will listen to me when I say that.

Thats bullshit. They stormed our field and tore down the goalposts and it wasn’t because they were indifferent.

Sorry to burst your bubble about that game but winning that game helped clinch a share of the B1G title and finish an undefeated B1G season. That was a celebration which wasn't about beating Minnesota, a team who Iowa was supposed to beat, and more for finishing out an amazing season and going to a BCS bowl. That was Kirk Ferentz's fourth season at Iowa and after the way the first two seasons went and losing to Iowa State earlier in 2002 Iowa fans didn't expect to finish the season the way it did. Again, that is the reason for that celebration. I will agree with anyone though who says that it was an over the top, ridiculous, or even stupid move by visiting Hawkeye fans.

Just out of curiosity who do Iowa fans see as their conference rivals? Would Nebraska be the big one?
lol....there's "It wasn't a fair catch" merch all over the state too. I happened to be in Mason City in the middle of the off season (April) and there were like 4 different styles of t-shirts and sweatshirts in an apparel shop.
Gophers need their OL to get off to a better start than they have the first 3 games. They've been slow out of the gates each of the first three games. Not going to be able to get away with that against the Iowa defense.
Maybe some of the younger fans that are used to Iowa owning the series don't see it as a rivalry? But plenty of Iowa fans my age sure as heck see it as a big game.

Before the divisions became a thing in the B1G I would put Michigan at the top of that list with Wisconsin coming in second because we didn't like Alvarez after leaving Iowa. Once the division thing started Wisconsin became the obvious team and then when Nebraska joined the partly because of their storied history Iowa fans enjoy beating them.
I really don't really know why Iowa fans don't see Minnesota as a big rival because there are few teams that Iowa has faced as much as Minnesota. For me I guess I would say that Iowa's record versus Minnesota since I really have been a big Iowa fan(1980) is 30-15, so I've watched Iowa win much more than lose.
@alignrock I really wish Iowa fans would get over that "it wasn't a fair catch"...there were so many other reasons why Iowa lost that game.

Maybe show them this stat and let them know it’s not a rivalry until Iowa catches up.

Ah yes, the storied history of the Hero's Trophy sponsored by HyVee. What a tradition.
