From 1963-2012 Nebraska beat the Gophers 16 straight times. The Gophers went 53 years between wins against the corn people 1960 to 2013.
The Gophers have now beaten Nebraska 4 straight years and are 7-3 in the last 10 seasons.
For the younger generation wins against Nebraska probably aren't that big of deal but if you are old enough to remember some or all of the blow out loses to the corn people in the 80s & 90s these 4 straight wins (and 7 of the last 10) are awful sweet.
BTW the Gophers lead the all-time series 36-25-2. The Gophers dominated the series from 1900-1960 going 29-6-2.
The Gophers just had a bad 50 years and the rivalry is now back to the way it should be. ?
Luckily NE will NE.
It’s not the same without Scott Frost running the charades.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Hopefully we get a recap from Jon the crazy cornhumper fan/writer/vlogger

I only watched the second half (which felt like 2 games cause ESPN sucks) but I will gladly donate all of my paychecks to Nebraska to hire this guy as their coach. His decision making was outrageously bad. I am not sure if Fleck was so baffled he felt the need to call as badly a game at times (or if he just didn't take his Neuriva) but MJ looked way out of his element. Reminded me of Clayes when he coached against Michigan on Halloween.
Since next week is I believe Northwestern I sit Tanner even if he is healthy. Let Athan play and see what he can do. You know Fitz will go balls out to get pressure so maybe we can take advantage of that with Athan's arm.
Jon will post, he does after every game. (the one from his toilet this year was an A+) Since he lives in the Twin Cities he always has something to say about losing to us
Didn’t realize he lives around here. In all honesty he seems like a good fan and I have nothing against him I just find his rants to be hilarious.
Yeah I think his wife is from here. I forget. He is a pretty good dude from all accounts and I think he had a stroke or something years ago which is why he is sometimes a bit off. Man he hated Scott Frost 😀
Mickey won't make him feel much better...seriously nothing beat when it was 3rd and 11 and they ran a basic draw play (that had zero chance of working even if we had like 9 players on the field) so that they could go for it on 4th down...and 10! You either call that because you are giving up or you call something that is designed to get more yards than that. They got bailed out by a ridiculous catch and then proceeded to screw up the rest of the drive from the 13 and settle for a FG. I may be wrong but they never even called a play that would have resulted in a first down let alone close to the end zone. For all my criticisms of the way PJ calls games sometimes (and he would have definitely run on first down...but then Mo would have likely scored so its different) he would have called a better series than that.
I get Mickey is a former Husker and they love him, but if they give him the job it better be because no one else wants it because if it is because they like him and they are worried he might get a different job they are going to end up with a Michigan State style problem. I know WI has made it work this year but I think they will run into the same situation though they have a much better foundation to work with.
Close Game Between Illinois & Mich State, Currently Illinois losing 23-15.
An Illinois loss would bring life back into the Big Ten West Race.
This ties into the Viking discussion about teams just winning, but not in dominating fashion. Gophers were 4-0? And then got punched in the face. OSU had some difficulty today vs Northwestern. Now Illinois is losing (still could win). Good teams need adversity, to see where they are really at. A 52-10 win is just as good as a 21-17 win.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
@the-rube I agree that having some recent experience of playing well in close games probably increases your chances of responding well to tight games in the future. Helps you recall positive outcomes, remain positive....
But I think great teams will win a lot of their games by bigger margins. Having a bunch of narrow victories in a row makes me believe a team is due to regress to the mean and likely lose ~50% of the close ones going forward rather than believing that team has some unique skill to always win by a few points.

And that's why I said "good" teams, not "great" teams. 😉

Mel Tucker trying to get fired with his decision making late. Unbelievable
Except history says otherwise. Lots of teams win close games and ride that horseshoe to great seasons. Usually catches up with them next season though ?
That would of been a crazy choke. Given the MSU fight situation would have been particularly bitter for the Spartans.
MSU holds on and the West is wide open again with a lot of teams playing each other in the next few weeks. This could get crazy!
@handyman unfortunately the Head to Head tie breaker against Illinois & Purdue will work against the gophers.
Maybe, but we will see. Both have more losses coming.
A tear jerker about Tanner Morgans father on gameday.

Got dusty in here for a bit.
seems like a great kid and family. Despite his struggles some games, hard to fault him. Great story of perseverance.
Athan Kaliakmanis likely starting on Saturday.
Apparently some 4* UW WR commit or something was on campus on Wednesday.
Athan Kaliakmanis likely starting on Saturday.
As it should be, and for the rest of the season. I know nothing is official, but Tanner likely had his second concussion in a month at the end of the first half. I don't see how you can put him out there again and risk further head injuries.
I also think that for as much as Tanner has done for the program, you have to see what you have in Athan. You aren't beating Iowa and Wisconsin with Tanner; the offense just does not have the juice to do it. Athan at least threatens the defense with keeping the ball on the run option with Mo. You also need to bring in some WR through the portal - maybe Athan shows he has some talent and it convinces someone to play here next year.
If Tanner is healthy, he plays (and should). If Tanner is not healthy, he should not. I'm fine with either QB starting. NU @ home isn't a bad first start. Will help him be ready for Iowa if needed.
$1,000 says PJ hires Tanner onto his staff within 5 years of him being done playing.
Didn't Athan start at Pedo state? Why would tomorrow be his first start?
Did he? I couldn’t remember if he started or not. Im old.
Athan started and played the whole game at Penn State. Obviously a really tough place to get your first start.

His first start since his Junior year in high school, no less.
Athan will start. Sounds like Morgan won't be dressed so Kramer backs up.
Matt Millen....he's.....he's.....not good.

14-0 in the 2nd quarter. Mo X 2 for 50 all time.
MN with a very typical workmanlike effort so far.

Pretty obvious targeting on #37 in white on Kaliakmanis.
Why does the color guy say Mariano Sori-Marin different than every other person I've heard say it?
3/9 passing.
We have to fix that before next week. Iowa won’t let us run on them like this.
Why does the color guy say Mariano Sori-Marin different than every other person I've heard say it?
Because he’s Matt Millen

I miss Mason on B1G.
Mo is being Mo. That kid is awesome
If the Goohers can't pull a Russell Wilson this off-season next year is going to be very long.
Dominant performance tonight.
It’s not just a QB issue. Receivers and TEs are letting balls go through their hands.
Athan will be alright.

He'll be better than alright IMO.

Tweet deleted, what was it?
Weird. It was about a Madison transfer WR being on campus with the Gophers this week.

The match up predictor on the ESPN website has the Gophers winning at 68%. I don't see that as a coin flip unless it's a three sided coin with at least two sides having Goldy's face. ?
