I don't follow real close. Is the attendance always this poor for the Gopher women?
It varies. Seems to always be especially poor the weeks of the Girls High School tournament and girls youth regionals (this weekend). Families of girl players make up a large chunk of Gopher attendance. Women’s hockey nationwide is not great. Gophers and Wisconsin are probably the only two programs that average in the thousands. Most everyone else is in the country is in the hundreds.
Um, WI seems to be over Fire Code with those numbers, unless I am missing something.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Their game vs tOSU at Wrigley Field was a home game for WisconSIN. 24788 attendance for that one.Um, WI seems to be over Fire Code with those numbers, unless I am missing something.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

Ah, skewed numbers

I'd like to see the mean attendance, then. Take out highest/lowest, and then add it up.

Averages to 2270.8, so, on average... TWO unsold seats per home game (assuming this is tickets sold, not butts in seats)
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
One always assumes tickets sold. Still impressive, though.

The Gopher’s first goal today by Natálie Mlýnková may have been the best bunt this state has seen since the days of Rod Carew.

Great goal. She was set up just like a face off.

No. I think the fact that this game was just "scheduled" on Saturday was a factor.
Playing with the Women's Pairwise predictor:
Looks like assuming we lose to Ohio State on Friday we are very anti-Colgate. Cornell can leap over us if they win on Friday, but we would still be the #4. But if Colgate wins the ECAC over Cornell, they both jump us and we get the #5 and hit the road to Cornell.
If Colgate loses anywhere along the line the worst it would appear we can drop is #4.
When did the women start going to the pairwise? It just wasn’t a few years ago when a committee picked UMD over the Gophers. The Gophers had all the metrics better than UMD but the community just happened to have a UMD person on it.
Keep your stick on the ice...

That was about the last year of that. They have used the pairwise for 5 years or so now.
WCHA Semifinal
6, Ohio State 2
Boom! That's a whuppin'!

The Gophers have now beaten Ohio State two of the last three times they've played. Yes Wisconsin is clearly the best team this season so tomorrow might not go well but the demise of Gophers seems to have been exaggerated. Being the second best team in the country normally isn't a reason to fire your coach. 😀
With the win the Gophers guaranteed a home NCAA quarterfinal next Saturday.
Win tomorrow they are the #3 seed and will play the winner of UMD and either LIU or Sacred Heart.
Lose tomorrow and they are the #4 seed and host the ECAC loser either Cornell or Colgate with the winner of that game the #3.
Didn't see that coming.
UW 3 MN 2 in second
Aloha!
Tied!
Gophers get a PP goal similar to the EGF game winner, double bouncer off the back of the badger goalie.

Badgers score with 24.5 seconds left to win 4-3.
Gophers will be #4 NCAA seed and will host Colgate a week from today.

If they really end up as the second-best team in the country I'll stand down on my opinion. If not then he's still the coach who went the entirety of the Heise/Zumwinkle era and then potentially the Murphy era with one national championship game appearance and I don't want that to carry over to the Primerano era. While most teams wouldn't fire their coach in this situation, I think it's about realizing that this coach cannot live up to the standards anymore and having enough stomach to do something about it.
Nonetheless, they played two of their best games in do-or-die moments, which they haven't done very much of recently. I will credit the gameplanning for that because it was not just Murphy this weekend.
Off a D-zone faceoff from an icing on a completely inexplicable dump-in from the neutral zone, easily between the Gopher Blue-line and center ice. As she dumped it in, I was asking "what are you doing?" Then get scored on right off the faceoff. 😥Badgers score with 24.5 seconds left to win 4-3.

……..and for those that don’t have a Strib subscription
and Colgate will play on Saturday, March 15 at Ridder Arena at 2:00 p.m.
Women up 3-0 in the second
Really like the set play of this goal. Gophers now up 3-0 halfway through.

At the women’s game vs. Colgate. They are a joy to watch. Know how to gain the zone and everything.

That was a bit too close for comfort. Gophers win 3-2. Will face BADgers in Frozen 4.
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
Wisconsin is amazing, but there's hope. UMD played them tough in the WCHA semi-finals. The Gophers went toe to toe with them in the final and it was only 2-1 today against Clarkson with less than 5 minutes left, when they got their third goal and then an empty netter with 32 seconds remaining. Gophers have 5 days to prepare to pull the upset.
Thru 2 periods against Colgate the Gophers were dominate, shots were 35-13. It took everything Colgate had just to get it out of their own zone with possession at times. Although they did remind me too much of the Men's team with missing shots high too often.
Got dicey in the third with a power play goal and then another to make it 3-2. But Shots were only 9-13 in favor of Colgate in the third, which isn't that surprising when you start with a 3-0 lead and your opponent is going for broke to save their season.
It would be so satisfying to ruin the Badger's dominate season with an upset next week.
It was disorienting for me watching the game yesterday, Abbey Murphy was disciplined and focused the whole game. I didn't see her messing around with any extracurriculars. That was amazing. Props to Ms Murphy!
On Beyond The Pond yesterday, Frost said she has become more disciplined.

Is the game on the radio? We don’t have ESPN+
When people tell me I’ll regret not having kids, I say that’s okay I know a really good place to cry. It’s my vacation home.
I can share my login if you want just PM me.Is the game on the radio? We don’t have ESPN+
Gophers gotta kill a 5 min penalty after a dirty blind side elbowing, yikes.

So far this game is much less disorienting than last week's game.
They just gave her a major without the game misconduct.
Killed it!
Thanks for the offer, appreciate it, but I’m in a place with iffy WiFi. Not good enough to stream.I can share my login if you want just PM me.Is the game on the radio? We don’t have ESPN+

Ugh what a shot by Edwards, 1-1.
1-2 WI early in the 2nd.
Gophers are 0-5 vs WI this season. Would be the right time to find the victory.
Gophers thankfully get a quick response to another WI goal.
2-3 mid 2nd.
Is the feed choppy for others from time to time or is that my wifi?
Wow the Badgers just missed a wide open net and rang it off the post.
Harvey went down after a hit from behind along the boards, kinda surprised that's not a 5 (edit: reviewing it).
