Izzy Daniel is the leading scorer in the country right now.
My opinion is it took two seconds into the game today to tell yesterday’s cameraman was better than today’s!
Gophers up 1-0 over Cornell 13 minutes in.
After a slow start, Gophers beat Bemidji 9-2. Freshman Lauren O’Hara with her first two goals wearing the . Also Abbey Murphy being Abbey Murphy…….

Gophers lead 5-0 after the 1st. 5 different scorers and none are Murphy.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Now Murphy makes it 6-0
Gophers move up to #2.

Tough/Interesting week ahead. Tuesday evening in St. Cloud which is no longer a walk in the park. Then Bucky comes to town for the weekend series. I’ve really come to enjoy this team, but this is a killer stretch.

Would love to see at least 2-1.
A tie with St. Cloud? I thought this team was rolling? I don't like coach Frosts comments afterwards either.

St Cloud is a pretty good team. SCSU just beat #1 Ohio St, so I don't think it was a horrible tie ( shootout win ).

You could tell the way this Abbey Murphy thing was going that it was going to be trouble. As a Gopher fan it’s hard not to like her. Not only is she our best player by a damn site, but very often she looks like she has more fun on the ice than any other player.
But too often she is just a dirty player. Sometimes you think she’s backing off the dirty stuff and focusing on just playing hard and then something will happen like her taking a major boarding penalty against Cornell with 2 minutes to go in the game with the Gophers up 4-1. She hasn’t cleaned it up enough.
The penalty was obvious and flagrant and mostly incidental to the play. She’s third in the country in penalty minutes and probably first per game.
This Murphy business is distracting to the refs. They are quick to penalize her and she’s taken multiple embellishment penalties coincidentally on called infractions committed against her by the other team.
The other teams get distracted by her and target her. Frequently it works as she is not the biggest retaliator and it often results in Gopher PPs.
But it can screw up the dynamic of the game and it’s dangerous. For just one example, she got pummeled big time by Ohio State at least once that I remember and it may have been more than once.
It’s not surprising that it is a Brian Idalski coached team that really targets Murphy.
With 5 minutes to go Tuesday night in a tie game St Cloud’s Klara Hymlarova slew-footed her and only got two minutes. Ella Huber made the mistake of retaliating and we lost a late PP with Murphy on the ice.
With 30 seconds to go, CC Bowlby went after Murphy and and took a 5 minute major and a game misconduct for contact to the head.
Murphy did not return. Hopefully she is OK and will be back on the ice soon. Wisconsin is this weekend.
Without her we had no clue how to attack St Cloud with a 5 minute 4 on 3 in OT and the game ended in a tie.

Good news... Murphy is in the lineup.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. Abbey Murphy just scored.
Murphy definitely has a target on her back today.

Horrible refereeing. 2 shots to the head and somehow we get a penalty and no major for Wisconsin. Is this a Wisconsin broadcaster?

No, Dan Hamann, does all the Gopher games and has for years.
It would not shock me if an all out brawl breaks out between these teams sometime this year.

The BADgers have totally taken over the game after they scored the SHG in the 2nd.

Red Wing says 'thank you' on Taylor Heise Night
The last time Taylor Heise stood at center ice at Prairie Island Arena on a game night for the Red Wing girls hockey team, she scored the first goal of the game, the last goal of the game and five more in between.
My son and I were at that game. We went to several of her games that season, she was so fun to watch. What I really remember about this game was the students though. Red Wing students always came “armed” with hats the last couple years of Taylor’s career. They were well rehearsed in the hat trick toss. What I got a kick out of this time was after she scored her fifth goal several of the students rushed the scorer’s table to retrieve their hats that were thrown again after goal number six.
Despite the fact that the puck is in the frame close to 50% of the time, this game has some of the worst camerawork the Gophers have had.
Gophers holding Ohio State to under 50% shooting percentage after one period!
After 5 periods of hockey…
Ohio State: 12
Minnesota: 0
yikes!!
Our poor players are utterly and completely defeated. Second half of the 2nd period every time it looked like maybe we could get a shot on goal our skater would head toward the bench rather than toward the puck 😟
We have a 50% chance of getting a shot on goal in the third period.
I still think Frost's decision a few years ago to de-emphasize national championships and winning in favor of bible camp was the wrong one.???
Girls saw the boys piss a game away and are doing a hell of an impersonation
It’s a night for blowing leads
If not for Murphy we'd be pretty mediocre
The ladies made it tougher than it should have been last night, but what a fun atmosphere at Ridder last night. A replica jersey deal or giveaway (note sure of the exact details) brought in more students than normal. Throw in some girls youth teams and the JWHL players that weren’t playing on the Mariucci ice at that time and you got a packed house. When Mankato tied the game with about 11½ minutes left one of the youth teams started a “here we go Gophers, here we go” chant, and kept it up until finally running out of gas with about 45 seconds left in the game.

Josie is looking to redshirt the 2023-24 season and compete for a spot in the Gophers’ defensive corps next season, and through a large part of a season of practices in her first year with the team, she said she’s learned the most about speed and size at this level of competition.
Not a big surprise to anyone that’s been following the program this season. But the first time I’ve seen it in print.
Hate to say it, but this team has been tough to watch since the Ohio State weekend.
Solid third period
