LOL. Is this like a catcher framing a pitch? Refs couldn’t see the puck!Yes. Except your asking players, fans, refs and those watching a stream of the game to follow a small black puck on a blue background? What king of special dumbass thought this was a good idea?@bertogliat Boise State??
That play was also 2 miles offside if you watch it again lol

Idk if people care about this stuff or not. Oliver Moore places top 10 in just about every category. Saw Hendrickson’s name in there too.

Ya expected to see a lot of Moore towards the top of some categories but nice to see Hendrickson too. Also, Moore officially weighed in at 195 pounds at 5’11 while still being 7th in body fat % is pretty impressive.
I can't say that I follow HS baseball that much, but given that I recall Edina doing pretty well in legion ball when I was around I'm really surprised it's been 40 years for them. Similarly for Tonka in that I don't think they've ever won a state title in baseball despite sending several teams to state, and have also had some very good LL, Mantle, and Excelsior legion teams through the years.
True story: when I was 12 we missed going to the LLWS by 1 game. I hit for the cycle against (team Wisconsin?) in our 2nd to last game despite striking out in my 1st AB and giving up an error at 3B. Coach moved me to CF starting in the 4th inning and I proceeded to hit single, HR, 2B and 3B to complete the mark. All four of those hits included at least 1 RBI.
In the game to reach the LLWS we gave up a 3-run lead in the bottom of the 6th to Central Michigan or something like that. Aside from breaking my foot leading up to the HS track meet my Sr. year it's easily my biggest personal sporting regret.

This is a really good U.S NTDP group, that won gold at the U18 Worlds. Will Smith is the guy, right? But who goes second from that team and incredible top line?
Scout 1: “I think it’s Oliver Moore. Moore’s skating is dimensional. He could step into the NHL tomorrow and be one of the better skaters in the league.”
Who are some top prospects that are getting overrated in the media discourse?
Scout 3: “Oliver Moore. He’s an elite skater, but he’s a 5-11 forward with average hockey sense. I don’t see him scoring a ton in the NHL. I worry you’re using a high pick on a small bottom-six forward who just buzzes around the ice with speed and energy.”

According to the scouts and executives in this article it seems Will Smith, Ryan Leonard, and Gabe Perrault are the top prospects from the USNDTP. Of the ten people quoted, only one mentioned Moore and the rest chose Leonard or Perrault, with most preferring Leonard.
That said, there is talk here about KHL player Matvei Michkov with many people listing him as the #2 player in the draft, but he is signed with the KHL through 2025-2026, so he may slide in the draft. Sounds like a good player for the Wild if Michkov slides enough for the Wild to make a move up the order to get him.

Smith, Leonard and Perrault got to play together all year while Moore was playing with 5 rounders. Some people just read their stat sheets and rank Moore lower without watching them play at all. Isaac Howard out scored both Cooley and Snuggerud in his U18 year but that doesn’t mean he’s better. I’d be willing to bet Moore puts up more points this year than those three.
Edit: those three being Smith, Leonard and Perrault

From Committed Recruits to on the team back to committed recruits to hopefully back on the team
How often do we see a player go to juniors and return to the team? From Committed Recruits to on the team back to committed recruits to hopefully back on the team
Probably not too often, but Goalie is kind of a special case. With Close returning, he was only going to get so much playing time. His development is better served to go back and play games.
Airey will probably get similar playing time to Barto's last year this year. He can totally come back and have a shot at the net. There's also way less goalie spots open than a typical skater, so less options to go elsewhere.
Not guaranteed to happen, but I don't think it's unlikely either.
I was under the impression they were going to redshirt Airey and give Close all 36+ games this year. I could be making that up though.

Very rare but the Bartoskziewicz situation is very special to begin with. He was brought in very early as an emergency body for the year LaFontaine left. The plan was for him to play that year, and probably the next year, in juniors.
Does anyone know what Barto’s eligibility looks like? When/if he comes back he’ll essentially be a sophomore in terms of eligibility, right? I was under the impression he redshirted 21-22.
One of the articles I saw said he will have 2 years of eligibility left.

Maybe. I was just running under the assumption that it would be the same. Kind of like how Bob doesn't tend to shorten the bench early in the year. I think it was the Mankato series where he said all of these guys need to experience those moments because you never know when you'll need them down the line.

The last Gopher that I can remember that did that was Danny Welch. I think his was more of a grades or school issue and not playing time issue. ( it was 20 years ago and I can barely remember yesterday ) IIRC, a Whioux player did it recently, I think within the last 5 years or so. ( I don't remember his name ). Like people have said, it is rare to come back to the same team.

There are countless idiot squirt coaches who don’t see this see how important this is! They shorten benches to win meaningless scrimmages in October…

Wow. I don't think you really need to shorten the bench at all in Squirts. That young should still be focused on ice time. As an adult, I don't really remember the goals or championships I won in Squirts. I do remember playing with my buddies though.

Makes sense. Zero room for goalies (unless you bring him in 2024 and Barto goes elsewhere) and his development has not gone smoothly. Best of luck to him wherever he goes.

Good to hear, seems like the Gophs could still use another body at forward. 13 is pretty light, would think they'd want another Schmidt-like depth guy at least.
Maybe the plan is to use one of the D as a forward if need be. We've seen it before.

Boy what a tease posting in this thread today. ?
Tremendous physical tools. His development will be fascinating.
Great start to the class. All the potential in the world and really smooth for a guy his size. The development program is a great place for him. Normally I want kids to stay in HS but this is one where I thought it was a great decision to go to the program. Benilde tried him at forward for a couple games last year and imo it didn’t go well at all. Skies the limit for Mace’o!
Holy Hell. 6'5" and 193 heading into his Junior year of high school? THAT is some great size for a D man!

Coached against he and BSM last year. Kid is a beast and on an absolute other level. Fun to watch. I'm very pleased with this one.
Talking to some BSM folks, he is a nice kid and hard worker too. Will fit in well with the tBob culture.
