I’ll be ok if we don’t get this crew again all year.
Anyone know why the shuffle from our usual guys?
@collegehockeyaddict j mitts has been noticeably good tonight. Lots of jump
The 5th line of J Mitts, Michel, and Begley who is usually a defensemen struggled in the first period getting pinning in their own zone on multiple shifts but were much better in the 2nd period. J. Mitts was definitely noticeably in a positive way in the second he drew a Michigan State penalty a few minutes before creating the Huglen goal.
A 4th line of Pahlsson, Nevers and Falloon who are all out with injures could be the best 4th line in college hockey.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Rebounds will haunt!

ATTA BOY LAMBER BOOOOOM
I was mostly saying it because he's the only senior lol. I also knew she was expecting but don't know if the birth has happened yet. Sorry for the misfire haha
No big deal… I just haven’t heard anything. And I don’t read GPL as much as I use to and watch the podcast. I want to, but just to have time being a papa… lol!!!
Plus, being nearly 50, I would feel weird if I was stalking players and keeping up to-date activities outside of hockey like handfuls of adult fans do.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Moore with a great job digging the puck out of the boards and getting it to Rinzel who passes to Wood for the shot which leads to a Lamb rebound goal (instead of Johnny on the shot) it's Bordy on the spot (where he always is on power play) with his team leading 7th power play goal. Nobody else on the team has more then three.
Lamb is so good in front of the net.
Red Savage (Fred Savage’s kid… j/k) might have of cooler hockey name than Max Bull (Denver) from several years ago.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Gotta get in his face there. Ugh.

Dang. Souly gets that one most of the time.
God dammit chesley
Soft on clears gets you scored on. Horrible mental lapses here down the stretch
5:54 pm tonight in chat:
God this game. Get ready for a shootout loss (again)

They sure let you catch the puck in order to keep the puck in the offense zone. Multiple times on Gopher clearing attempts Sparty D men caught the puck over their head and carried the puck down to their chest to then drop the puck on their stick.
Ugh
They could at least give us a reacharound

Ugh
Just fucking hideous here down the stretch. Regardless how it ends that’s just unacceptable
Gophers look completely exhausted. A lot of reaching and not skating.
What a rough stretch.
Nothing but passengers since going up two. Not enough guys left on the team since the 2023 title game I guess.
Not sure if lack of effort or just gassed. That is an unfortunate stretch

The team has looked tired as heck since the 10 minute mark of the 3rd.
damn, they never seem to be able to win O zone face-offs!
terrible pass by Lamb
That fucking sucks
This is kind of how I saw this playing out. Too bad but MSU outplayed us after the midpoint of the 3rd.
Oh well on to the next one!
Well you hope all these these upperclassmen take it on themselves but this one will be an evisceration in the film room
Poopfarts.
That being said, it's not like we faced a slouch this weekend.

Chesley should definetly dread the film...he struggled in the 3rd. I assume he was tired.
Im sure the reactions in the next few hours around here will be measured and calm 🤣 😛
The team has played over 1,200 minutes (almost 1,300 minutes if you count the exhibition game at St. Cloud) and 3 bad minutes when the team was totally gassed (for very logical reasons) doesn't change how good this team is.
I look forward to the second half of the season it is going to be a lot of fun to watch especially if they get a fair shake on injuries.
Two really well played games marred by a 3 minute stretch and a couple of questionable calls yesterday. Two very winnable games even with the depleted roster. That really really stinks.
Not the end of the world to lose but we should have won one of these games. The 2 goal goal lead suckered us into playing a different game than we play.
Put this weekend behind us and move on to the second half of the season.
Definitely flash backs of the 2023 Natty game. You can’t play to not lose with that much time left. Bob hasn’t learned his lesson.
At least it was just a regular season game this time, but woof!
Tough weekend to walk away with just one point with how they played short handed. Goaltending wasn’t bad but Augustine vastly outplayed our tandem and we ran out of legs at the end of the game. Heal up. Still in the drivers seat in conference
Would love to know what was said on the bench after we got up 2. Cause that was a brutal ending to the game. Soft in own zone.
So every time we lose a 2 goal lead it is because of Motzko?
Every team loses 2 goals leads every season it happens.
Coach Hastings who many fans say is a defensive wizard has had his team lose multiple games already this season after being up by multiple goals.
Soft clearances and play at the blue lines plus dead legs on a short bench lost this game. Felt nothing like until natty to me where we looked afraid to make a mistake. Last ten minutes that was physical exhaustion leading to mental mistakes and lack of finish. There are times as a player you need to grip it and realize even an icing is better than a failed clear (Chelsey) or if it’s at all a concern you eat it in the corner. Zeimer will also tell you be needs to get one of those two puck rings prior to that out but was pretty clear the tank was running on fumes. Rather this happens now and you learn some things about game management on a short bench. They did it very well last weekend vs Michigan, but msu is a much more disciplined animal that they will hopefully learn a lot from. Won’t be a fun film session for the guys but that’s hockey. Same shit happened to Denver last night
Gotta respectfully disagree with your take on this. Howard’s goal on an odd man rush resulted from the Gophers (specifically Hendrickson line) pressing hard to score 4th goal, they narrowly failed to connect, resulting in all 3 forwards getting caught deep & gassed, resulting in slow developing 3-2 Sparty rush, Howard made a great play holding the puck while his linemates drove the net, then made an absolute snipe. That goal changed the momentum & trajectory of the game. The tying goal was the rough one with several botched clearing attempts leading to a bar down point shot & 3-3 tie. After the timeout, Gophers simply couldn’t quell the Sparty momentum, lost a puck battle in the corner & Stramel slammed home the GWG from in close. Better to lose a game like this NOW…learn from it and vow to not repeat it…than having this happen in late February. Finally, credit needs to be given to Michigan State for battling back after Lambs power play goal rather than wilting and (like it or not) mounting one hell of a comeback.Definitely flash backs of the 2023 Natty game. You can’t play to not lose with that much time left. Bob hasn’t learned his lesson.

This was nothing like the title game. The team kept pushing they just were worn out.
I’m not buying that everyone on the team got tired with 10 minutes left. You could feel them let down thinking they had a win with a 2 goal lead. Once that happens you can’t just flip the switch and turn the intensity back on. It’s called the most dangerous lead in hockey for a reason. This game needs to be in the back of their minds for the remainder of the season..
It’s amazing how quick Huglen can get off that wrist shot.
Really good weekend for Whipple, good to see the rapid improvement.
I hate losing. We had it in our grasp and let it slip away.
I still know we are the better team. Rest up, heal, come back next year with some fire and ice. Go Gophers!!
I think it is a bit of both. They go up two, they let up because they are gassed. Because they are gassed, they can’t get back into it.
My bringing up the title game was a bit tongue in cheek, and I don’t think Bob told them to go into a shell.
Yeah idk, that sequence might’ve been due to fatigue and the mental mistakes that come with it. The gophers probably sweep with a full roster and 2 games of Wood (who looked awful today and was probably jet lagged).
They have some time to get healthy for Mercyhurst and that loss knocks them down to 4th in the pairwise, it’s been a great first half and I can’t get too worked up about the outcome of this game or series.
