Nerves are warming up.
Yeah they’re drunk college bars lol, I don’t mind going to them to be on campus for these games but you know what you’re getting. Kollege klub is nearby and BWW has the best TV situation but it’s your typical corporate chain (where the bartender doesn’t understand that a “Tito’s mule” and a Moscow mule are the same thing). There’s pluses and minuses with each option.
Part of me would like someone to retire from their job and open a fun place on campus designed with huge TVs and big pre-game, during-game and post-game crowds that piped in audio from the pre-games/games/post-games, then be the bar that hosts coach radio shows and can handle special events for Gopher Athletics... good to have those hopes right. Seems like it's something that should happen in the NIL era.
Gameday! Let's do this! Will be heading out soon!
Nerves are warming up.
I was more nervous before the last game. I believe they found their game in the second period Thursday. If they bring their A game, especially early Clown College is gonna have a rough night. I think Knies is due for a huge night.
That said, clean up a few things. No blind drop passes being the biggest. Better to drill it on net than drop it blind. And no periods off. Do those things, and we'll be seeing them in Tampa.
9.5 hours to go...ugh.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
You think getting there an hour early will get me a parking spot? Heard the parking situation is bad.
I'm really excited for this match up - two teams that know each other really well and are evenly matched - but as a life long MN sports fan I know enough to manage my expectations.
St. Cloud and Cornell played the only first round games that were not blow outs - so there is probably a bit of advantage to St. Cloud in that sense -
Gophers had extended periods of bad play their past 2 games - how can they get past that? This always seems to happen to them - is it because they are such a team of individual stars, each who feels they need to make the highlight reel play - and they don't play as a team?
Gophers had stretches against both Michigan and Canisius where they did not play well at all -- so I think the advantage is with St. Cloud today -
There are times when the Gophers in the d zone and they just stand around in their structure and watch the other team move the puck. It's as if the Gophers are participating as pylons in a drill - why do they do that?
If the game is racehorse hockey Gophs should be fine, but if St. Cloud is able to dictate the pace of play, the Gophs are going to make mistakes and get frustrated - undisciplined hits and penalties could come into play - if that happens the Gophs are sunk.
If the Gophs have any chance to win, Knies/Logan/Snuggerud need to focus on doing the right thing every shift and quit the cute stuff - Fantilli won the Hobey last night vs. Colgate.
We’re the better team. Now go play like it.
Don't know where to put this message . . . but having watched college hockey games ( and in particular, Gopher hockey games ) for the past 63 years ( since beginning as a Freshman at the University of Minnesota [ and playing hockey against the "Wooger" in the Winter of 1959-60 { up at the new, "outside" rink at Osseo High School } ] ), and just recently watching all of the NCAA Men's Hockey Championship Regional Games thus far, some thoughts: 1) After the Gopher's victory against Canisius, I'm thinking that the other B1G teams in the regionals decided, we can do that too; 2) Is there an unaffiliated or more particularly a B1G school with a club hockey team not yet in the B1G Hockey Conference who would not like to join that conference and learn what it is like to "play good Gopher hockey" ( to quote Paul Martin from the 2003 "Frozen Four" DVD )?
Go B!G teams and Go Gophers!!
Not knowing what to do, they do what they know . . .
Knowing what to do, they sometime don't do it . . .
The 26th year of the Gopher Men's Hockey Profile got to be too much for this ol' codger to handle . . . what with all of the possible activity on the transfer portal . . . . So, I'm closing it down at the 25th year . . .
There is an NJCAA (Jr. College?) basketball game on The U prior to the main event. Here’s hoping for a blowout. ?

Iowa and Illinois, IIRC, but they aren't going anywhere, especially Iowa. They play in a mall, last I heard. NO one cares about college hockey down there. It's football and wrestling, with a splash of basketball.

They'll put it on ESPNEWS worst case.

Seems like something like that should have happened long ago and it is good to have those hopes . . . .
Perhaps, a consortium could come in and redesign and reconfigure the Stub and Herb's block(s) with a large two story mall with underground parking - getting by-in from Stub and Herb's, Bona, Sidewalk and Test Kitchens, Raising Kane's, Burger King, Hong Kong Noodle, Kowloon, Blaze Pizza, Jimmy "Snuggerud' Johns, My Burger, Korea, Afro Deli & Grill, Chipotle, etc., etc. . . . your hope inside could be called "The Athletic" . . . ) with the name Stadium Village Central ( a kind of "Biggytown" ) on the southern side of the Twin Cities Campus . . . ?
That's my hope . . .

Any chance to win? Lol cmon.. the Gophers are not an underdog story.

I read the guide wrong, hoops game is prior the BU-Cornell game.

Strib writer Randy Johnson is my new hero!
From the article:
The fanbases for the Gophers and Huskies have a strong rivalry and play to contrasting stereotypes. To many Huskies fans, the Gophers faithful is an arrogant group that believes that while they might not have invented hockey, they were key in the decision to make the puck round. Gophers fans often mock the Huskies' institution as "Jan Brady State University,'' a comparison to the angst-ridden middle daughter who can't escape older sister Marcia's overbearing shadow.

@mikeeruzione11 it's just a habit - following the perennial favorite it's all about managing expectations and preparing to be disappointed --
Gophers get this far every year and disappoint > 90%
No blind drop passes? I haven't seen a game this year where they didn't do that and doubt it starts now. ? I am not a fan but when it does work out nobody complains because it is glorious.Nerves are warming up.

Yeah they will definitely still be trying it. They only stop when one directly leads to a goal against that puts them behind. Sometimes not even then. ?

This made me smile. Jan Jan Jan...
Most seasons end in disappointment for everyone. It’s not a Gopher thing. I swear some people on here (and elsewhere) think the Gophers should win it all every year.
The Gophers have 5, well 7 championships in their whole existence. Are they due? Absolutely! But it’s hard to do. Let’s just hope for a good performance tonight and try to enjoy the ride!
Stomach is a full fledged knot now.
Play tough.
Play disciplined.
Play together.
Most importantly… Play for the ‘M’
Is it game time yet - LFG!!!

As long as you have your lucky jersey on, there is not much more that you can do. ?
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
I hope to hear the game today I am in Honolulu will listen on IHeart radio
Aloha!

My advice to you is drink a lot of fluids later this afternoon & then stay away from the bathroom until puck drop ?Stomach is a full fledged knot now.
Is it better or worse seeing who we get in the FF right before our game. I hope the boys don’t know and don’t care.

I’m certain they aren’t paying attention and don’t care. They are only concerned about the game they play tonight. As it should be.
Doesn’t matter…if they get by St Cloud they’ll make it to the title game…likely a re-match vs Michigan. But today won’t be easy, a one goal (2 en) or OT game.Is it better or worse seeing who we get in the FF right before our game. I hope the boys don’t know and don’t care.

If that's the case, we'll be playing their game. They tend to grind out a lot of one/two goal games. Personally, I'm hoping we bring our A game from the opening buzzer and do something kinda like we did to Western last year.
I am a little tired of hearing how hot STC is. They were playing terrible, and have three wins against subpar competition since their "turnaround". Other than Mankato they haven't even played a tournament team in 2 months.
One of many of Clymer's asinine comments.I had to go back and look. Clymer makes his asinine comment with less than two and a half minutes elapsed in the third and the Gophers up by only a pair.

I do hate missing the game to pee unless it’s urgent, but if I need to take one or two for the team I’m happy to oblige. 😉
You have one of them fancy smartphones, you can watch the game while doing your duty. 😉

Just ate lunch at Blackbird Woodfire in downtown Fargo. It may be too late but I highly recommend this place. Awesome pizza and salad. Hit it for lunch on your way home!

We had their pizza at Brewhalla. Limited menu but good!
Stay out of the box!
That is all...

I hope Cowgirl is in the stall, pants down and Cooley powers up the ice, deks at least two D-men and slams home the winning goal. I knew she’d like to see it but take one for the team.
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.
Pino and Strobel in, Schmidt and Kurth out

Bad time of year to be sick or hurt. Losing Kurth is not good.
Could be a blessing in disguise. Bob might not be tempted at all to play the 4th line now.
Lamb fit in pretty good with 7 and 77 Thursday.
I thought the same thing. Love Kurth’s game but now Lamb gets more minutes and gets into the game earlier. We’ll be fine.
Wonder what the deal is with kurth?
