I agree, I’m not a doctor. But someone relayed the message to Wally for some reason. I was just sharing what I heard.
Is this under review for a possible hit to the head by the Domer on Wood?
@mozzy no no. wasn't a shot at you and hope this means they're pretty certain. maybe nd has some advanced imaging capabilities rink side as well as many B10 schools do near the facility if not in house.
Please excuse me. But fuck this notre dame team
its like some junior hockey type stuff when you're team is getting shit kicked and you know you have nowhere near the talent so you look for big hits like it makes you "good". remind me why MN kids want to go play for this shit team?

No worries, I didn’t take it as a shot at me. I am hoping that the word from Wally is accurate. In the meantime I’ll crack into another Yuengling and pray for the best!
Airey looks brutal.
@mikeeruzione11 7 is still gliding back on the pk..... That's not the goalie.
That's the 2nd ND goal tonight where no one picked up the guy in front of the net.

he was clearly pretty dead. koster needed to stay home as well but that one's 0% on airey
That's a 5
it would be multiple games in the NHL. he lunges with the knee. horrible horrible hit
He should be done for the weekend, dirty AF
i still am in favor of for those kinds of hits (similar to lunging head contact) where it is a clear and obvious hit that carries intent to injure, they should miss equivalent time to the player. it's gross to me you can go out and end a players season, face no repercussions for it (college hockey at most gives you 1-2 extra games) and then go back about your season while another player may miss the entire year for that type of hit/play. I get it that he probably didn't "mean" to hurt him, but he lunges his leg forward and out to initiate knee on knee contact. Its not just a clipping him but a deliberate attempt to put the knee in his way/hit him with the knee. Absolutely spineless play that has no place in hockey
I don't buy the argument players make when they say they didn't mean to hurt an opponent being totally careless with how you hit somebody is a sign you don't care if you injury them. Don't be a complete dumb ass and hit like that!!!!! Yes accidents/crashes (crashes is the correct term in terms of traffic incidents now) happen but often times the severity can be reduced if the person at fault isn't being reckless.

Doing it is pathetic. Doing it after you injured a player on the other team is inexcusable
Kurth 6-3, ENG.

Get bent ND. good win gophers. stomp them again tomorrow and let's get out of here with everyone else's health intact
Very solid win. Team played well! Here’s to hoping Lamb is okay.

agreed 100%. Many of us have played and it's just not a way you go into a hit ever. you know it's wrong, dangerous, and dirty.
Game over, Gophs win 6-3.

The Gophers are now 9-3-2 at Notre Dame in the Coach Motzko era.

Unless it's Kaprizov. Then the NHL will ignore and maybe even encourage additional cheap shots.

I don’t remember Notre Dame ever playing this style of hockey under Coach Jackson. Curious if this play by them is more than just this game and the Mooney hit earlier this year. Anyone know?
Jackson has a long track record of coaching the game the right way. I don't think this is coming from him.

they had 3 guys ejected vs alaska earlier this year. this is their 2nd additional major penalty. Janicke now has 25 mins in penalties this year.

They mentioned on the broadcast that Jackson sits guys more often if they commit stupid penalties, does extra skates (dunno if they actually said "bag skates"), and that he doesn't know how to correct it.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

ND is #11 in PIM/G this year (unsure if its updated yet as of tonight)
13th last year
21st the year prior
they've always played physical, but yeah something is different this year in taking these types of penalties. Their high PIM guys are all seniors/graduates
This year's Notre Dame team is committing a ton of penalties so clearly it has some issue with discipline. Maybe it is a case of since he is retiring his leadership/voice isn't getting across to the players like previous years.
Other than the 1st one, (that counted) I thought Airey played solid. On goals 2 & 3 the defense were no where to be found.

I'd hope you're right but who is suppose to be in control of the players on their team? This feels like more than a one off situation with his team over the course of this season and all of the BS hits. We hat say the GPL Rubes? 🤔
Had to pause the game to take the kid to hockey . I come back and hit play and get the message that the game is concluded and a replay will be available soon.
F! I just want to watch a game and sometimes its seems to world is against me.
The Gopher power play is #5 in the country at 28.3%

Plus we won the 2021 Big 10 tournament held in Compton. Great numbers at this rink.

As an outsider, it’s pretty clear his message is lost on his players and has been for 3 years now. When’s the last time Notre Dame played like Notre Dame? When you’d give up a goal and get nervous because you may only score 2 that night?
His message is being tuned out. A change at the top is coming and is very needed for that team.
I really hope Lamb is ok. I could care less if he plays tomorrow or against Alaska but we need him against Mich/MSU in December.
The only comment Bob said on the radio post game was we will have to wait until tomorrow to see.

well interesting to hear have to wait until tomorrow. if he avoids structural injury with how egregious that hit was that's a major win
Janicke should not be in uniform either way and if I'm Jackson, if the B10 doesn't step in, I would
I am curious if we look into the possibility of bringing in a forward for the 2nd semester (when school enrollment is available). Yes you are burning a year of eligibility for only half of a season but our number of forwards could make this a possibility depending on Lamb's status.
Will Pahlsson be ready to play after the Holiday break? Time will tell.
Hey Rhett you should transfer back. I kid.
If we did happen to add a forward for the 2nd school semester it would be kind of ironic. I bet people wouldn't be as bothered by us take somebody elses player mid season like they were when Washington took Laffy.
Washington in their time of need takes a player away from another team. How dare they!!!!!! 🤬
If in our time of need we take a player away from another team. Good move. 😀

can't really see someone who would be a + add. think you roll with who you've got at this point.
Owen B. got brought in for the second semester when Laffy left for the pros so it has happened before. Yes it being a goalie makes it different but you never know.
There has been times were a recruit was brought in for the 2nd school semester and depending on our injury situation you never know.
I'm not saying it is likely to happen just that I wouldn't rule it out.

Yes it’s happened but it rarely works. Owen B and Clayton Phillips both transferred elsewhere. Colin Schmidt is the only other guy I can think of.
Wally on the rinzel goal for 2-1 was epic. “Oh by golly it’s Ollie!” Originally looked like Moore’s goal and corrected it immediately when official score was given. Love Wally on the audio 😁
If that were an NHL game there would have been at least one fight and probably more. Somebody would have paid for the dirty hit on Lamb. When refs call only the most obvious penalties but let the slashing and chippy play go, the only option for a team is to drop the gloves.
Janicke is a piece of sh*t for that hit. As someone else mentioned, this is the same team that lit up 5-foot-nothin' Mooney on the US national team. Real classy joint you're running there Jeff.
I'm hoping for the best for Lamb but he wasn't putting any weight on that leg. It looked like a nasty hyperextension. It would be a huge blow to lose him as he has been a beast so far this season.
I hope not, but I've been wondering tonight if the cheap stuff is coming from Sheahan. He may have already been on the staff last season, but since he was named Jackson's successor in the offseason, it's hard to imagine his not already asserting his coaching style.
Though again I hope that's wrong and this isn't the look of the ND program for the near future.

On the positive side, I thought huglen had just a masterclass of a game. He had the puck on a string all night. What a move in the penalty shot

It was Carolina FWIW, as they have done a bunch of minor league stuff because of their owner.

In the third, right after the hit on Wood and before the Chesley charging penalty, there was a line change where Snuggy came off and Wood came back out for his first shift after the hit. Wood immediately two-hand slashes the back of the knee of a Notre Dame player. He got his moneys worth. Total payback for the hit earlier. There was a whistle right away and I was thinking Wood was getting a penalty. Instead it was a faceoff at center ice for offside or false icing. Something like that.
The Big 10 needs to show that it has a spine and suspend Janicke. I don’t care if he’s a dirty player or not the simple truth is that there are consequences for your actions.
Any update on the Lamb injury?
Aloha!
