3rd of 4 trap series in the month of November. I believe ND is the worst team in the Big 10 this year but it’s never easy going on the road, especially against a team that’s lost 5 straight and should be pretty hungry.
Expecting a split with how we’ve been going though this should be a sweep on paper. Split them both last year but usually they’re a very tough out on the road
Goals given up this year by game:
1
2
5 (clear outlier)

Might be Don Lucia’s classic race to 3 mentality
I may be alone here but I think it is not the goals given up necessarily but HOW they are given up. We have had very few (in my opinion) goals given up by being outplayed or out positioned in our end. Seems like way WAY too many goals given up on bad plays by our guys in our end or in transition/other end including some breakaways (really really not good on those?) and some stone cold right in front chances. The race to 3 might be real but there needs to be a look at why we are even in a race to 3. That is not a sustainable plan against who we play later this season. The team really looks great at times and would probably benefit from NOT having to dig out from under every. single. game.
@mg-since-forever yup. For as good as our record is, we’ve given up the first goal in 5/12 games. Now we’ve come back and won 4 of those, but it’s far easier to win from ahead rather than spotting the opponent 1 or 2
Notre Dame/South Bend is my favorite BIG roadtrip… haven’t been there since getting married. Keep telling the wife we need to make this trip…
Keep your stick on the ice...

@gator Went a couple years ago with my youngest daughter, going with my wife this year. Agree great road trip staying at the Embassy Suites across the street from campus made the mistake of staying downtown last time we were there. Go Gophers!
what’s the RV stand for?
I have Fox 9, Fox 9+, B1G, and FS1 through Youtube TV, and can accept occasionally having to download and pay for a month of B1G+ to see the odd Gophers game here and there, but can they stop with putting a single series on Peacock? Is that a Notre Dame thing? Who even has Peacock?
It's a Notre Dame thing. Their contract is with Peacock.
And, last I checked (it may have changed, because I haven't looked in a year) anyone with Comcast/Xfinity cable gets Peacock.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

Got it, thanks. No cable for me so I'll have to go the streaming route for a month.

You can get Peacock for free with Xfinity if you are paying for a certain Wi-Fi bandwidth level. I believe it’s 800 mbps or above.

Or just look for free trial codes. I dunno if that'd work, but...
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
8 and 7 a.m. game times respectively for this guy are awesome!
From Bob's radio show.
Falloon will be back this week. Thomas is TBD

I did the $7.99 tier and will cancel after the games this weekend. But I will get to use it for 1 month and check out some movies I have not seen. I think that is a great price to see the hockey games and a few movies.

Peacock ran a special this spring for (I think) $25 for a year. Between the Olympic coverage, a couple of Gopher games, and a few shows (Poker Face in particular) it was a hell of a deal.

We watch a ton of English Premier League soccer on Peacock so its a really good deal for us. Multiple games every weekend.
A FWIW worth post re Peacock: Not sure many people still have an instacart subscription, but I do. And coincidentally got an email from them yesterday noting their perks, which included a one year subscription to Peacock free of charge! What timing.
Signed up and now have access to the games this weekend.....mentioning in case this would apply to anyone else.
Thomas doing drills with the team is a good sign

good to have Falloon back. Hopefully they come out buzzing after last Saturday and play with some attitude
Scoring first will be huge. If ND gets up early like Bemidji it could be Saturday all over again. Jeff Jackson has made a career out of sitting on 1-2 goal leads and is pretty good at it. They have great goaltending as well which adds to it.

Right. I hate it but ND has been married to NBC for many years.
I think/hope that this series will be a tipping point for the Gophers. This letting other teams score first (particularly on our errors) has to end at some point if this team will fulfill the potential. I know the Gophers have lost a couple games that really got stolen by tenders, but at least against Bemidji they gave away too many chances and didn't challenge the goalies in the right way. Down and dirty in the crease. Sometimes pretty works, but ugly works much more often. This team HAS the grit. Stand in and play hard in front where even a very good goalie has no time and space to react. We need this part of the game with the talent if this team will ultimately succeed.
Silianoff 1-0.
Offsides.

Well? That's not good or did they just get lucky?
JFC Airey. That’s terrible.

Yikes Airey
This feels like Airey is more than just a little shaky! Wow
Pull him. His head is not in the game.
Bad on Airey, but Whipple sucking led to that goal.
Lamb 1-1.

There it is! Lamb
Great shift from that line. Hopefully we get the buzz saw gophers we’ve seen a couple times after giving up the first
Gophers look significantly faster than the domers
End of 1, tied at 1.

Gophers had 3 or 4 grade A chances in deep. Keep at it and bury a couple of those.
