Ugh UMi scores on their 2nd atrempt, Gophers fail to tally and lose the SO.
We suck at shootouts. 0/6 in two weekends.
I appreciate the optimism from Wally and Frank but I still feel a bit let down. Like last week’s tie it feels like this one was there for the taking. That said, last Friday we dominated Duluth and last night we probably stole a win so I guess I should to take it. Anyway, on to next weekend against Notre Dame.
A win and a tie in their barn when we in all honesty got outplayed for much of the weekend, we will take that. Good fight from the boys.

There have been promising progress the last couple series. Need work on the power play and being short handed. 5v5 we outplayed U-mi. Should be running on all cylinders soon.

I figured that was the reasoning.
Thankfully SO talent doesn't matter in the post-season and anyone harping on that result is just looking for reasons to complain.
I also disagree the Gophers were outplayed most of the weekend - at least 5x5. But they do need to work on special teams.
A sweep next weekend could be what the Gophers need to get their Mojo back. I feel like they’ve been missing the Minnesota style hockey swagger.

That wraps up an odd weekend of hockey at Yost for fans of Minnesota.
The production value from the AV team was one of the worst I've ever seen, and the color commentator with the undescended testicle was excruciating to listen to. If a boring game can be made worse by an inept mic jockey, he's your ma-, um, make that boy.
I loved the couple times the broadcast cut to the corner camera. Which always seemed to immediately shake violently then tilt to 45 degree angle whilst pointing out into the middle of the ice devoid of anyone.

honeslty, I'm 100% fine with that. I'd rather see time spent on PK and PP and not worrying about something that happens twice a year.

I don't think any team would sacrifice much practice time for shootouts.
Most teams line up the players after practice for the shootout drill before they hit the showers.

Maybe I am looking through maroon and gold colored glasses, but feel this team has another gear to hit and plenty of upside. The schedule is a gauntlet and should only help the team in the second half.
