In 10 games (11 with the exhibition game at St. Cloud) the Gophers have only given up more than 2 goals once.
0 goals - once
1 goal - four times (5 times with the game at St. Cloud)
2 goals - four times
Giving up one or two goals is a GREAT recipe for success!!
Hard fought win! I was listening to the radio during second intermission. Wally mentioned that Hastings appeared to be staring down the Gophers leaving the ice. Was there anything to that?
would envision its the players slapping the glass at their student section celebrating after the GWG
If that's the case, that would be rich considering how the Wisconsin players celebrated last year when they scored and beat us at Mariucci last year...
(...that was last year, and not the year before, right?)
Last year it only applied against the Gophers too. Multiple reviews against multiple teams. The rule appears to be that any time a player is checked/pushed into the crease, the call on whether the goal is good or not is required to go against the Gophers. I'm getting to the point that the question in my sig has been answered. It can't be incompetence at this point, it's like 8 in a row where if a Gopher is checked into the goalie, the goal is wanted off, but if someone is shoved into a Gopher goalie, the goal is good. That's not incompetence.Last year I was told it doesn't matter that the offense player got checked into the goalie because it is his job to be stronger on his skate and not get pushed into the goalie and that is why multiple Gopher goals were disallowed.
Apparently this only applies one way.
EDIT: Thinking back, it's only I think 6 goals, but 3 or 4 more boarding/CFB where the Gopher gets a GM, but the opponent on a remarkably similar hit only gets 2 minutes. It seems that anything that's really a judgement call vs obvious on replay, it goes against MN
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
That ending was amazing! Kurth knocks that guy on his ass to get the puck back, which they had for almost the entire overtime minus like 30 seconds. The badgers made a head scratcher of a line change which allows the 2 on 1 and the game winner on a mid air one timer. And then Ziemer with a perfect celebration banging on the student section glass 😂 😂 😂 absolutely clinical!
Also if Hastings was really being a crybaby about it that makes it even more funny
Yeah if Hasting was salty over something that innocuous he can go...

I know Hastings was a assistant for the Gophers then he left the U of M what was his issue with the U of M, I heard that with Lucia stepping down he had no interest in the head coach position for the Gophers?
Aloha!

maybe don't lose then Mike

I feel like teams do that kind of thing all the time. Apparently he's new to college hockey?
Maybe I read it wrong, but Hastings was upset after the SECOND period, and not after the OT GWG. Maybe he was mad at the refs instead of the Gophers as they left the ice after period 2? Who knows.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
I swear I saw someone (Gopher) do the ear cup after they scored. Not sure who.

Ziemer did it momentarily immediately after scoring.
This video shows it right after he scores before he gets to the glass.
It looked like no one knew how to celebrate for a few seconds. Should they bang on the glass? Should they cup their ear? Should they wait for their teammates? We have to do better at properly taunting the opposing fans if we’re going to win in style like that.
Thanks to everyone who posted highlight videos!
I think they should have given the student section a stick salute like they used to at Mariucci after a sweep. It looked like no one knew how to celebrate for a few seconds. We went to both games this weekend and had a blast. Kind of a story of two nights with the people around us. Friday night the red teams fans around us were not very fun to be around, just yelling and cursing at us lol and then saturday there were some good fans who would banter back and forth and keep everything hockey focused. Plus some other gopher fans around us so that was fun. Madison was fun as always, the students always yell at us when we walk around with gopher gear, but at least that's expected. Not adults at the game haha. But overall a really fun trip, it was only our second time. Will definitely make that one again.
