47 saves by Thiesen tonight. Close with 27
A most excellent reaction to last weekend's debacle at Mariucci. MN competed, back-checked, and supported each other in every zone. Few guys still squeezing their stick tight but not as tightly as they would be had they gacked up another hairball.
For the record, I did my part trying to root out U-mi spies at last night's game and didn't see any. Ever vigilant.

Well, they looked better this weekend. Bring on the ugly m’s!
Every time I say Snuggy’s in a rut he scores the next game so I’ll say it: Snuggy’s in a bit of a scoring rut right now.
I’ll pat myself on the back since no one else is
Good God the UMD announcers were terrible. Tell me they aren't getting paid for that analysis.
Pat?
Whoever did the game on Fox 9+...just atrocious. That was high school closed circuit TV level bad. I think even they realized how bad they were during the shootout...
To be fair, the on air coverage is not awful, the camerawork is….good night Duluth
Well, 4-1-1 in non conference hopefully helps us in March.
Stupid unnecessary shoot out.

The announcers stunk...hard. The camera work was um...I can't think of a bad enough word.

Intoxicating?

Tough place to play. They will keep improving every week. Sweep at home and in Madison and split on the road from here on out. That should be a good recipe for success.
I didn't see a replay of either penalty, but Kurth at the end of the second period must have been a dumb one. It set UMD up for the tying goal in the third. Pitlick's penalty was in the offensive zone, and those are usually the kind the coach yells about.
It felt like Kurth missed some shifts in the 3rd...maybe Motzko was handing out lessons.
Minnesota had so much more speed and skill that UMD was on the defensive all night. Lucky for them their goalie was up to the task.
Nice to see 4 (5?) players get off the schneid with their 1st G of the season.
I appreciate how one of our "newest" members always finds the cloud in the silver lining. Keeps us on our toes.
Nice to see the Gophers bounce back this weekend after last weekends debacle.
Our 4th line was really controlling the play all weekend against Duluth.
Their goalie last night was the difference.Wow...
Wasn't there a goalie named Thiessen who played for Northeastern a few years ago? Thought so but don't remember exactly.
What did people think of the lines this weekend? I really liked the Pitlick-Nelson-Snuggerud line.

Loved that line. Definitely think it should stick for awhile.
Pitlick is flying. At some point you have to try Pitlick-Moore-Snuggerud.
I thought the lines this weekend were pretty good. The Nelson line was very effective and as others have pointed out the 4th line really stepped up. All four lines had some good moments. I may have a skewed perspective but it seems like the goals we are giving up are largely due to mental mistakes like D guys getting stuck too far in for too long and no one coming back to cover, trying one move too many with the puck, or careless passing. We are gifting teams their chances instead of making them earn them. Overall I thought the team looked much better this weekend but give WI some credit. They outplayed us last week for at least 4/6 periods and the Dogs didn't outplay us for any of them
When you pack 7,345 into Amsoil it’s quite the atmosphere. Needless to say, the student section was giving the business to the Gophers (although the chants lacked creativity…you can easily surmise the rest) In person Moore & Pitlicks speed really stand out, Rinzels size & ability to rush the puck (even Luke put on a burst one shift reminiscent of his older bro) and Snuggys shot. Not having Dominic James hurts, he’s arguably UMD’s most dynamic player. Gopher 4th line was buzzing, Clark stood out, he’s ready for this level. The refs seem to be emphasizing stick & hooking penalties. Both teams had golden opportunities to win the game in OT (with the 4x3 format) 3x3 OT, while popular at the NHL level is damn near as convoluted as a shootout, I prefer 4x4 OT. Thiessen played amazing, but Closer made some good saves too…as I hoped an entertaining game.
