Since when can't you lift a stick?
The Gophers look better, and yet something still seems off.
Brodz!!!
2-0
Duluth D men falls down Brodzinski is johnny (or in this case Bryce) on the spot to take the puck and score!!!!!! 2-0

At least since that one time in notre dame in 2019. ?
I think the gophers look great. Lopsided affair despite the fairly even shots.

Yeah coach was not happy with that call. Some of the calls the past couple weekends have been interesting. In 4 of the past 5 games and again in the first period tonight the opponent has gotten more power plays. It would be nice to see this even out at some point.

Gophers are skating hard and clearly look like the better team. If they keep it up Duluth will be out of gas in the third.
Pat said they'll call that every time. I don't get it?Since when can't you lift a stick?
Bryce to all his haters: Do you know who the active career leader in goals in the NCAA is? ?
BTW I realize that criticizing a player doesn't mean you hate him but I do think he takes too much criticism. We all know who/what he is and so does coach. He is not a great skater but he scores goals and the last time I checked this isn't figure/speed skating where the winner is determine by who looks the best skating/the fastest skater. ?
Oliver Moore top shelve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He also multiple times tonight has said the Gophers played bad last Friday night but came back and played well Saturday (the series was Thursday/Friday). He has been a little off tonight. Yes refs are looking for sticks off the ice especially above the waist but the was a text book stick check.
A couple of complete breakdowns by Bulldog defenseman led directly to goals 2 & 3.
Luke Johnson from Duluth just got a hooking penalty on a stick check. He hit Lamb's hand(s) on the stick check that is the key.

I agree with you on goal 2 but goal 3 was because of Moore's elite speed. Speed kills.
Pitlick is causing constant pressure. Gophers look good tonight!

Going to echo literally everyone else but all he has to do is score! He’s been playing great!
After 2 periods the shots are Gophers 20 Bulldogs 10 (8-2 in the 2nd period). The scoring chances are 9-1 over the 2 periods.
Moore made a great play on goal 3, but it was aided by Goetz (ill advised) stepping up at the blue line reacting to Moore momentarily losing control of puck in neutral zone, the result was Goetz getting turned like a doorknob preceding the goal.A couple of complete breakdowns by Bulldog defenseman led directly to goals 2 & 3.

Pitlick and Rinzel both hit the post a few seconds apart.
Then later on the same shift Pitlick scores!!!!! It was only a matter of time.
Pitlick (did have 2 goals in the exhibition game against Bemidji State), Kurth, and the defense men have yet to score. I would love to see all three score tonight/this weekend.
D man goal (Thomas) - Check
Pitlick goal - Check
Come on Kurth make it 3 for 3 ?
Feels like 14 is as high as UMD is gonna be rated this year.
Brodz sucks.
Who is the only current player in the NCCA with 50 goals?
5-1 final, shots end 30-15, scoring chances 14-4
Yeah, put him in the stands…lol…Bulldogs played like the Wild tonight. I’d expect them to put up a better fight tomorrow in Duluth.Who is the only current player in the NCCA with 50 goals?
Great response from the boys tonight after last week. Let’s finish the job in Duluth tmrw night.
I might be the only one in favor of this but I’d like to see Airey get a look tomorrow night - give Closer the night off so he’s fresh for michigan next weekend.
Much, MUCH, better! Fun game to watch and the Gophers looked solid. Hopefully the Bulldogs goalie is okay. You hate to see a non contact injury like that. The only thing about the play tonight that looked not great was obviously the PP but I have a feeling that will get fixed soon. Let’s put together a full, complete weekend together and get the sweep up in Duluth tomorrow night. It’ll be a tough out for sure but if the boys play like they did tonight they’ll give themselves a solid shot.

They didn’t look fantastic tonight but it’s early and they ran into a pissed off Gopher team that came to play in a tough environment. I’m never one to count out Sandelin’s teams. Especially in early November.
@minnesota_knies218 Being somebody who likes to see the back up goalie get some playing time (even though I am a huge Closer fan) usually I would agree but I will be surprised if Airey first game isn't a home game.
UMD will be around the bubble at best I'd think. No Dominic James hurt them badly.
Imagine if the Gopher PP was even average out there tonight.
Could Moore complete a lap before Brodz completes half a lap in a race? Funny to see them when they're out at the same time.

Not going to happen. Close can handle the workload and he expects to play every single important game this year.
complete team game tonight. Looked great from start to finish. Now finish it off and let’s sweep

I can see your point. I’m just thinking because of last weeks debacle, the michigan series becomes that much more important; especially with it being on the road. Closer getting a night off before conference play makes sense to me.. one could also say he’s earned a rest after some good outings on his part.
@minnesota_knies218 he played great and had little work tonight. They play 2 games a week. These wins will be big come March. Play Closer
Never felt like MN was threatened tonight, they controlled the game from the opening face-off. UMD had maybe 4-5 shifts where the controlled the game.
Nice to have #4 back, you could tell he was feeling it.
27 was really good
It's apparently dress as a seat night in stearns county
I felt terrible for the UMD goalie, that was tough to watch - and they kid has been through a lot.
Nit-pick complaint, MN needs to be better on line changes and take shorter shifts
MN is getting weird bounces, seems like the puck is hopping funny this season. Could just be me

Non conference games are huge for Pairwise implications. Sitting Close would be really silly IMO.

I didn't catch what happened. Look like a non-contact injury. And a bad one.
Strong defensive play tonight. Nice to see. Glad Koster was back.

buddy and I noticed the bounces as well. Multiple last week too. Wonder if it’s an issue with the ice?
looked like this was the first time the new ice making equipment was turned on. The rental unit was fully disconnected. At ice level the ice quality seemed a bit better than the last several weeks.
Now THAT’S the kind of bounce back you expect to see. Utter domination. The two C wearers 4 and 24 were very noticeable I thought.

there are wet streaks after the zambonis are out that last for several minutes. Is it the Zamboni overlap lines or something in the ice underneath? Have noticed them all season thus far.

I actually thought there was a bit of interference there by Kitty. Yes the D man stepped up, but Kurth put his stick over the top of the D man’s and held down. Didn’t allow him to get the jump to catch Moore. Even the replays in the arena skipped over that part.
Every time I say Snuggy’s in a rut he scores the next game so I’ll say it: Snuggy’s in a bit of a scoring rut right now.
In the first 3 games Suggy got 5 goals and 2 assists in the last 4 games 0 goals, 0 assists. I too think a really good game is coming soon.

Keep it out of the hands... can't lift it when you missed and hit someone in the mask like Mitts or when you're too far behind like Pitlick.

Apparently he's cleared to be on the bench and practice, but they don't want him to play a game just yet. I think Motzko said the timeline is still a couple weeks out. He had to stay off the ice from taking real shots until about last week and was just essentially getting use to wearing gear for the week before that and not on the ice at all before that time.
