HERE WE GO. See you all in Tampa...

A rematch of the 1974 semifinal vs BU that my wife and I were at in Boston. 49 years go by fast.

Should be a fun matchup! Let's get number 6!

I was thinking that the second the Gophers won... Though I would bet 90% of fans/players under 25 don't get the reference.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Flight and hotel booked! Now just need tickets
Wish the game was tomorrow. The good Lord is testing my patience. Gonna be a LONG 2 weeks.
Super excited!! Played good enough to win, I hope we get to see their best in Tampa!
I am now happy I took Apr 6 off. Submitted the request in Jan. 😀

It will be interesting to see how ESPN determines game times, especially if Qwhatever gets bounced.

Has anyone watched BU this year? I only caught a little bit of the game earlier today. The game today was a grinding game with not much flow.

That might be as much Cornell as it is BU but I only saw a little both of their games this week.
They are on a heck of a roll and have (IIRC) pulled a few rabbits out of their hat.

I guess that comes down to Minnesota or Michigan (if they make it) being the bigger draw. I would assume the MN market with the Boston market would make it a shoe in for the night game.
If Ohio State beats Q there will be three Big Ten teams in the Frozen Four. With so many top teams in the Big Ten this season I bet the conference title race was a tight one. ?

Not disagreeing but methinks ESPN would slobber over a chance to carry a possible u-mi-tOSU matchup in primetime, even if it's not football.

The Gophers will STOMP Boston. They matchup well with their style of play. Go Gophers!
Yeah figure the B1G 4 next year to share a regional
BU has a good goalie and their offense oddly enough runs through a defenseman. Gophers have a big depth advantage in my opinion.
Has anyone watched BU this year? I only caught a little bit of the game earlier today. The game today was a grinding game with not much flow.
BU is 3rd in the country in goals per game and 16th in the country in goals against per game so better offensively then defensively.
They played 4 games against Top 10 teams this season.
Lost 9-2 against Michigan
Won 3-2 against Michigan
Won 2-1 in OT against Harvar (they have no d - see yesterday's game against Ohio State) ?
Lost 3-2 to Michigan Tech
BU's top 3 offense definitely struggled in these four games.

I could see Montreal reps on one end of the press box hoping MN wins and Toronto reps on the other end cheering for BU.

Lane Hutson is the name of the game for them. If we can control the game with him on the ice, we win the game. Gopher depth should take over.
@Greyeagle I have a feeling Knies is going to try to take his frustration out by being physical with BU's best player freshmen defensemen Lane Hutson (15 goals, 33 assists, 48 points) who was drafted by Montreal in the 2nd round. He is only 5'9" 155 lbs. He is from Chicago, IL.

Then Lane can sign for Montreal's playoff run....oh....wait.... ?

In my very humble opinion, the only team that has been able to skate with the gophers is mi. With that being said, the gophers have played 2 straight games against opponents that have emphasized a slow and clogging strategy. I think BU will start the game trying to do the same. Gophers will just have to keep grinding and get the lead, once that happens BU will have to open up the game to try to manufacture a goal. At that point they will be playing to our greatest strength.
He's like Mike Reilly, but his hands are better than that
Cooley leads the country in assists. He has 57 points and 37 games.
Lost to BU in the 1971 final
Beat BU in the 1974 semi-finals
Beat BU in the 1976 semi-finals
Lost to BU in the 1994 semi-finals
Lost to BU in the 1995 semi-finals
I think that covers the Frozen Four matchups. Not sure on earlier rounds over the years.
I remember we beat them like 7-3 or something like that in the first round in 2012.

They play a lot like us just not as good
Past performances mean NOTHING unless it happened with current players. Please, stop relying on that stat.

Agree… Past stats and records are put out there to get people interested and talking. Do they have actual influence on the game, no.

I’m pretty sure it’s the 5 Frozen Fours matchups.

This explains a lot and is scary for the Terriers
I was wondering if that could be the case but didn't want to bring it up since I had no specific knowledge of an injury. Based on this quote it sounds like coach thinks the 12 days between games will definitely help his injury.
This team has been dealt some key injuries late in season Luke Mittelstadt, Faber, LaCombe, Kurth, and Knies but has done a great job battling through these injuries winning 7 of their last 8 games especially when you consider every game has been against a team in the top 16 of Pairwise or made the NCAA tournament (Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, Canisius, and St. Cloud).
Why bring them up, then?
I imagine ESPN is going to mention prior history between these teams and not for the purpose of assuming an outcome in 2023.
I feel really confident about this game. Hutson is outstanding, but I think the Gophers have the depth advantage in every facet.
Boston University isn’t nearly as battle tested as us. They haven’t run into a team of this caliber yet this season.
Hutson is good but Cooley, Chesley, Snuggerud and even Mittelstadt should know him and his tendencies well. Especially those first three.

Good lord comments like this are tired. You ever notice ever conference thinks they get screwed? I wonder why that is...
Yeah I probably shouldn’t drink and text, it was a dumb joke. But yeah every conference gets screwed because I go and say this stuff on other boards and the committee is out to get me.?
