I am hoping the ice is better tomorrow. Like others have already stated, it was freezing in the rink!
To me it seemed like the ice was really good in the first 5 or so minutes of each period, but deteriorated rapidly. By the end of each period the ice was choppy and slow.
I know Jup talked about the ice situation on X, as he ran into some RIT players today. I know there are a few different ways to surface the ice between periods, but to me the Zamboni's were going way too fast. Also, the ice crew would leave a bunch of snow in the corners after they scraped the ice. Not sure why they didn't try to shovel the rest out the door. I would assume that this is the normal Stampede crew and they are not new at this.
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
Funny story about Bucci from a co-worker who met him and Melrose in Pittsburgh at the FF when the Purple Cows were out there. My co-worker is an outgoing person and never misses an opportunity to talk with someone. So Bucci and Melrose were at the Mav fan gathering and my co-worker walks up to Bucci
-Co-worker: "Thank you for all you do to promote college hockey. You know though, there are great hockey teams west of the Mississippi River"
-Bucci: "Eff you!"
-Co-worker: "Eff you! Wanna take a picture?"
-Bucci: "Yup!"
They had a nice conversation about the FF for about 5-10 minutes and that was it. My co-worker has their selfie framed in his office. So Bucci is obviously a homer and doesn't shy away from it. He is the best person for the job at ESPN though. He is just an East Coast LaPanta is all.

I will take a homer that loves college hockey over a rando that doesn't even know the college teams or rules (Melrose) every day. There used to be an old guy from our east that hated all the west teams but knew and loved hockey. I liked him a lot.
Bucci is a tool. Whether he loves hockey or not I sometimes wonder if he has eyeballs when he's calling a game. You can tell who he wants to win during the whole broadcast.
We are one of few teams in the country with the sheer scoring power to keep up with BU. The roles will have to flip tomorrow night--Nelly's line is going to have to turn into shutdown central and 81/77/11 are going to have to let it rip. Our d-men have a lot of talent, now's the time to prove their worth.
@gophs1 I moved to Sioux Falls a while back from Minny and there are a lot of UND fans around here. Both my boys played in the Flyers organization and I saw a lot of parents/players with UND sweaters on and every time I saw one I would remind them they weren't playing here lol

I got lucky and predicted the Omaha game correctly. Predicting the BU game comes down to who can control the puck? I like Minnesota's Goaltending and Defense over BU, but BU's forwards are slightly better. Last line change is important. I expect Celebrini and Hudson to play a lot against our 3rd and 4th lines. I see a 4-4 5-5 OT game. Since I'm a Gopher fan lets go with 5-4, 6-5 Gophers win.
-- Was 2-2 at the end of the second period but the Gophers had 5+ near goals. Bucci yelled Goal at least 3 times only to have it not count in the end LOL
-- Our Goalie interference review issues were around last year as well.
-- Melrose called the Mittelstadt brothers both very high draft picks 🤣
-- Huglen's between the legs pass in front of the net was insane. Would love to see him or Pitlick to make a play makers play like that today.
-- Luke got two quick goals to seal the game early in the third
-- Only one BU highlight/chance in the third, shows that we really shut them down to close the game.
@gophs1 Because with a month left to the season they were a “lock” for the 1 seed there. Then they lost three straight to Omaha and went from 2 pairwise to tied for 6th with the Gophers. That and they wear the XXXXL green everywhere they go.
Super random question but anyone know why there were UND fans at our game last night? I’d be one thing if they were in our regional but they weren’t. And Sioux Falls isn’t really in the UND fanbase geography so some of these people drove to watch a bunch of random teams. There must have been at least 50 of them at the game yesterday. Very strange.
Because a TON of them assumed that they would be in that region and bought tickets MONTHS ago. Then Omaha got hot and made the tourny and messed it all up for UND fans.
Considering how little East Coast fans like to travel, I kind of feel bad for BU fans for being forced to come all the way out here for the regionals just to try to come again in 2 weeks. Let's save them the trouble.

Really, we’ll just be doing them a kindness. Go Gophers!
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.
Line changes and smart plays around the blue line are critical today. BU is fast to transition and will capitalize if MN's not smart with the puck.

Have not liked this one all week - thinking BU 6 MN 2 . . .
Not knowing what to do, they do what they know . . .
Knowing what to do, they sometime don't do it . . .
The 26th year of the Gopher Men's Hockey Profile got to be too much for this ol' codger to handle . . . what with all of the possible activity on the transfer portal . . . . So, I'm closing it down at the 25th year . . .

Damn, BU is very good at moving the puck. Best defense today might be a smart and solid offense. Possession is key. They can’t score if they don’t have the puck.

ESPN+ started to cut away but then came back in time for the goal. Sweet snipe by Jaxon. Enjoying Wally and Micheletti simulcast vs lame ESPN announcers. Go Gophers! Heart pounder!
