I don't have anything insightful to say about the game, but geez, I am glad Cam Thiesing is not on the Gophers because I cant' stand hearing Ben Clymer say "FECES!" every time he's involved in the play, and it would be miserable hearing it for the whole year...
Thanks… that’s all I heard every time either announcer said his name… lol!!!
Keep your stick on the ice...
Note, for those that didn't see it... Snuggy was on the bench at the time. The Ohio State captain spears Snuggy and gets kicked out of the game.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Would be very surprised if thesing doesn’t pick up a suspension as that was as egregious as it gets

Did it get shown on TV? If so I missed that.
Yeah. I get that there's chirping and stuff... but skating over and spearing someone that's standing in their own benches... that's intentional.Would be very surprised if thesing doesn’t pick up a suspension as that was as egregious as it gets

The Gophers are now 9th in Pairwise/RPI.
14-6-4 overall
11-3-4 in the last 18 games
7-4-3 in the Big Ten
7-2-3 in the last 12 Big Ten games
The Ohio State captain spears Snuggy and gets kicked out of the game.
Given how that happened (play was stopped and he INTENTIONALLY skated from center ice directly to the Gopher bench), I'm shocked he only got a game misconduct and not a game DQ. Hopefully the league reviews and suspends him for a game next weekend. There's no place for that kind of conduct in the game.

they showed it but from across the ice. I couldn't tell who he speared. But he wanted right up to the bench to do it.Would be very surprised if thesing doesn’t pick up a suspension as that was as egregious as it gets

I turned it off immediately after the empty netter. Just went back and watched on DVR. Wow. He needs to be suspended.
If the Gophers and Q hold level on W-L for the rest of the season Minnesota should eventually pass them in RPI given the relative strength of each conference.
Gophers win the season series over Ohio State with 3 wins and a tie.
Their unbeaten streak against the Buckeyes is now 7 games - 6 wins and a tie.
Over the past 19 games against Ohio State the Gophers have 15 wins, 2 loses, and 2 ties.
The All-time series is 24 wins, 6 loses, and 5 ties.
13 wins, 2 loses, and 3 ties at home
10 wins, 4 loses, and 2 ties at Ohio State
1 neutral site win
18 wins, 5 loses, and 5 ties in Big Ten conference games
Ohio State finished 9th and 15th in Pairwise the past two seasons. They are definitely a solid program but Goldy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Burtus!!!
I enjoy beating Ohio State!!!!!!
Made me nervous when OSU pulled within 2 toward the end.
Usually to compete a sweep, there needs to be other players who step up. The Nelson line didn’t have a point all night. I foresee at least two goals from them tomorrow.
I don't like to make predictions very often, but when I do...
The amount of criticism they take is "interesting" in particular Brodzinski.
Brodzinski has 12 goals and 13 assists (25 points) in 24 games playing with Nelson and Nevers.
Knies last year had 21 goals and 21 assists (42 points) in 40 games playing with Cooley and Snuggy.
Does anyone have any video of the OSU spear? I missed it at the game. I just saw the OSU player on the ice after the incident,
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Postgame presser with Bob, Brodzy and Pino. Make sure you listen to the end as Jess asks another hard hitting question on what Pino had for breakfast....

Huglen had a great weekend. Love seeing that, Gophers need him.
Begley…. Woof! That was really hard to watch.
Where is all this criticism of Brodzinski? I must be missing it.
Any game that the Brodz/Nelson line doesn't score, people complain. Brodz in particular likely earned some of it in early season games where he was lazy at best on defense AND not scoring for several games. His game has improved since.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Saw the end of game BS...suspension. BUT kudos to the ref for the apparent WWE takedown. That was classic.

That was one folding chair away from a brawl. Linesman did a good job there.

For me it’s the lack of hustle/puck hunger at times. They stop moving their feet too often for a line comprised of 2A’s and a C. Really shows up against higher skilled lines. My gripe has never been on the offensive production.
OSU is gaining the reputation of being goons. They had 2 of their guys suspended in game 1 from an incident that happened last weekend. The boxscore has Thiesing with a game DQ instead of a misconduct, so I assume he is out the next game.
As far as the game, I thought Pino had a solid game. Early in the game he prevented a goal when he was camped out in front of Close and cleared away a potential goal. I have zero problem with a 4th line rotation until someone really stands out.
I thought every line looked good last night. I liked when Bob put Clark on the Farm Kid line with Brodzy during certain times last night.
The Gold out was again underwhelming. I think the Maroon out will be more successful as I think more fans have Maroon sweatshirts/shirts than they have Gold ones.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Whens the last time we enjoyed a Culvers sweep?? A Culver's sweep against a pesky Ohio State team that just wouldn't give up. I hate to say anything good about Ohio State, because I HATE them, but in 2 or 3 years they will be a tough draw. Great effort by the Gophers, I'm very excited about next weekend already. Go Gophers!!

If they would get their act together and sell authentic versions of this year's gold jersey, I'd get it and participate in a gold out!

Referee announced it as a game misconduct, so I would guess it's either a typo in the box score or they changed the penalty after the game.

They are two undrafted guys and a guy who was drafted in the 7th round so it is not surprising at time they are going to struggle against higher skilled lines. When you are playing against a line that is faster than you you tend to avoid chasing them when they have the puck which makes it look like you have stopped moving your feet. Guys like Moore and Pitlick look like they are hustling more because speed is their game which they can use making it look like they are giving more effort. Each line is playing the style that uses the skills they have.
The criticism lines production both offensively and defensively shows they are giving a lot of effort it is just in a different way.
Never an excuse for that sort of thing.
It would help if college coaches put a muzzle on their players...all that chirping back and forth creates a lot of friction. Too much testosterone between the benches. Nice take down by the linesman.
So will the coach take away his C for that completely undisciplined bit of thuggery? He should. That wasn’t even in the heat of the moment or a scrum, he deliberately skated over.
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

There are plenty of issues with the GOLD out. Not having any Gold jerseys available is the 1st issue. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to shell out $130+ for a jersey in general. I think the Maroon out will be better because, just by the eye ball test, most fans at the games have some sort Maroon sweatshirt/shirt/jersey. Just using me as an example, I had to go buy my wife a Gold sweatshirt for Xmas as we don't own many Gold Gopher items (other than jerseys). The majority of Gopher Hockey shirts/sweatshirts we have are Maroon. We only have 2 Maroon Jerseys though, with one of those purchased this year. They need to do a better job at getting the word out. For example, I listened to Beyond the Pond on Saturday Morning and not once did Pat, Falness or Bob mention it during the interview. I don't expect Bob to mention it, as he has plenty of other stuff on his plate, but Pat and Falness should have brought it up.

I doubt it, it was thug-ess and uncalled for, but it was at the end of the game and not in the middle of the game.

You would think anytime a player goes after a player who is on the bench, that should be a multiple game suspension. It really could have turned ugly. If you want to be a tough guy, go after him on the ice. 2 sacred spots, are the bench and the handshake line. Also, the fact he did it right in front of an official, that means he didn't care what the consequences would be. He didn't even try to hide it. PUNK.

Also, props to the player who was standing next to Snuggy. You could see that Snuggy wanted to use his stick to retaliate, but the player held him back from doing so.

That’ll be hard to do though as Qpac plays Brown and St. Lawrence every weekend and we get MSU, Wisco, Mich, etc.

Getting the word out is the biggest thing. When the football team did a gold out to start the season this year, it was everywhere. Even PJ was promoting it on his radio hits that week. Yesterday it felt like more of a "oh by the way" type of marketing and the results showed.
Never an excuse for that sort of thing.
It would help if college coaches put a muzzle on their players...all that chirping back and forth creates a lot of friction. Too much testosterone between the benches. Nice take down by the linesman.

If they stay close yet not exact it might be enough. There might be a calc out there already to test it.

Chirping is a part of the game. They chirp at peewees. I have no problem with chirping.

I wonder how much of it goes back to last year (or even earlier?). The last home game vs Ohio St it appeared as if they were going to goon it vs the top line. Knies and Snuggy took five minute majors on the same shift fighting back.
In the Friday game, the shift Snuggy got a hooking penalty, he was out there just looking to hit someone. Had three or four on that one shift alone. Took it too far and pulled the guy down after a hit.
If they want a gold out, they should hand out gold Hefty Bags at the door with a hole big enough to fit a head through.

I said they should have put a gold shirt on every seat. They at least laid out 10K gold Pom Poms…
The student section looked like they mostly had it.
pom-pom is probably $0.10 for the ‘U’ cause they buy them in bulk for all sports. And maybe less if there advertising on the handle. Shirts are probably $2-$3 if they advertising.

Helped that they were given yellow tie-die shorts the night before.
