The Subway situation is a hot mess. No blueline for sure. Currently both orange and green are not running up to the TD Garden (until further notice) due to an accident at the Government Center garage. Green will run from the Gov't. Ctr stop west out toward Fenway. Orange is pretty unusable as is Blue.

Hopefully Orange and Green are back before people get there.

One of my wife's MA cousin's emailed me yesterday about the delays due to the accident at Gov't center.

She seemed to think it would be resolved before but this tidbit and $6 will get you a Mocha..... :coffee:

Was just wondering why the train option seems so popular. Never been there

It has to be a priority. You essentially have no subway lines running through the core of downtown Boston right now (Red running E/W and nothin running up into the North loop area).

I could not resist a shot at the randomness of the post. Post padding at its best! :)

Boston has a really good system, at least in/around downtown, from what I can see. And unlike NYC their trains actually go to the airport which is a fantastic option and one I suspect many travelling to the games plan to use. It would also impact fans staying near the airport who planned to take the train to/from games. Like you we were planning to Lyft/Uber when we arrived simply due to the simplicity of the process (not needing to find the train, get tickets, is it the right train, transfer, etc.) and were considering the train to the airport on Sunday, especially if we got 7 day T passes.

That means you have to listen to Barry Melrose....ha ha!! :poke:

I will say this about Barry - he was about as complimentary about the Gophers vs WMU as he's ever been, but it would be nice if he dove a bit deeper into the rosters and that's for all of them.

Barry really looked older than he really is (56) on tv this past weekend during the Regionals. I hope health wise he is ok. Though as a color guy doing hockey, he can stop.

I didn't feel great about the Gophers chances vs. Kato last year, but I feel more confident this time. That means nothing of course. Kato has experience, coaching and leadership so it's a hill to climb.

It's a one and done, but the Gophers have been very good away from Minneapolis, have competed with some of the best already, know how to come from behind, finally have the coaching and mental makeup to match the talent, and now have a PP that at least by recent results cannot be ignored. If I'm Kato I don't like this matchup at all. This team is better than the 2014 version IMHO.

Of course of these observations mean squat but what are message boards for? Mr. Green

I have met Barry a couple of times at Frozen Four events. He was really nice and engaging. I like Barry and don't mind him. That said, Barry is like a cat with a yarn ball. Just make an early hit in the game and he will be obsessed with that team/player.

First, I will say I am normally not a subway or public transportation kind of person. But Boston's subway system was great. We did a family trip there a few years ago and stayed out in the burbs (downtown was too expensive due to a huge convention) and we just took the train/subway into town every day. Took it over to Harvard too. Very easy.

Barry seems like he would be an absolute wagon to drink with at a bar. Not crazy about his announcing but I bet some of his NHL stories would be jaw dropping.

A few of us spent and hour or two with Barry after the 2011 FF in St. Paul... He seemed to soak it up a bit too much. Really liked that he was the center of attention. Blew his cigar smoke across the table on purpose. This was at the outdoor tent at Tom Reid's. There was a ton of security surrounding all of us to keep the crowd back. It was a different experience for sure.

A little different than when Wooger would drop by table to table to visit Gopher fans at the Sports Garden in Duluth after the game.

I'm sure with Barry's stories, there's a bit of a difference between what actually happened and what Barry recalls or tells what happened.

Agreed. Barely noticed him this weekend. Not sure what the hate on him is all about. I can understand, but disagree, with the dislike of Bucci, and understand as well as agree on Melrose, but Colby seemed to mostly be a non-factor in the broadcasts as far as I could tell.

He's actually pretty knowledgeable and I thought carried some "oddisms" from Barry very well. Of course, I also thought they represented MN and our players fairly especially in the final. They fixate on the NHL draftees a lot, but also gave Meyers good coverage seemingly shocked he wasn't drafted.

I can't stand Melrose and Bucci is way overrated. Cohen was just fine for a "sideline" guy.

Maybe I'm crazy but Bucci and Melrose are just Bucci and Melrose at this point. The Cohen guy seemed to be sucking up to both the whole time which I guess could be expected as the new guy.

I just can't bring myself to hate on Bucci he's too good for the college brand and his call of the Holl goal was fantastic you can hear the genuine shock and excitement in his voice. You know it was a big moment cause he was too preoccupied to even say his "winner, winner, chicken parm dinner" line that so many of us make fun of him for.

Well, that's certainly good news.

It also looks like some of the interruptions on the Green and Orange lines are starting to get straightened out as well.

EDIT: I definitely hope they get the Haymarket station going again, though, that's the one by my hotel.

The Greatest Bar looks cool. And across the street from the arena. May try to stop by on Wednesday, we land at just before 5pm. If it's a 7pm type thing we could get there by then.

I was checking out bars and that one had caught my eye based on the staff in the Google pics lol

As far as decor it looks like the coolest though if you don't like dark dives. Banners will probably have a decent number of folks pre and post game, too.

I hope they have remodeled it because in 2015 it seemed old and it is a dive bar like you said. The pics look like they have cleaned it up a bit. It is smart that they put the Gophers there since it is one of the bigger ones down there. In 2015 they hosted the Whioux on a couple of floors and Omaha on a couple of others. There were a bunch of nicer bars a block over from it, but 2 of those have closed ( The Fours and Sports Garden). The Fours was really nice and reminded me of Tom Reids but nicer, and closed. Hurricanes is still open and was ok.

Looks like it's about the same as walking from New Bohemia to the X, so, about as close as you can reasonably get. Definitely will be in there at some point over the weekend, maybe more than once.

The other thing to remember is some of the bars down by the arena don't open until 4pm on non event days. We ran into that issue in 2015 when we were around the arena on Friday and was hard to find a bar open until 4pm.

Doing some digging, looks like the Haymarket station closure isn't due to end any time soon. While annoying, given that they're doing structural analysis to make sure the tunnels are still safe for the trains to go through without collapsing, I'm pretty OK with that.

We get to share the bar with our buddies from Kato. You would think they would at least divide up the teams playing on Thursday.

We get to share the bar with our buddies from Kato. You would think they would at least divide up the teams playing on Thursday.

Sullivan's Tap is better anyway. It's kinda a dump, But it's Boston in a bar imho.

My shop where I watched the last 2 games seem like an ideal place to watch! Actually, this F4 has a similar feeling to when the Gophers beat UND in the 0.6 game. I am hoping for the same results.

I’d be hoping for better.

I just meant Thursday's game. 1 game at a time is the name of the game, can't look past the first game to the 2nd...

FYI-- Denver's gatherings.

BOSTON

11:00-3:00 pm EST Bostonia Public House, 131 State St, Boston, MA 02109 – Hosted by Damien Goddard and sponsored by Denver Boone Facebook and LetsGoDU. If you are attending, go HERE. Any and all DU fans welcome!

Free appetizers. Lunch and drinks are available for purchase. Boone posters and NEW Boone hats are available ($25/ea.) along with posters ($15).

3:00 – 5:00 pm EST. The Harp, 85 Causeway St, Boston, MA 02114 – Sponsored Denver Alumni Event. (across the street from the TD Garden). HERE is the link to register.

The DU reception will start two hours before the game 3 pm Thursday and, hopefully, at 6 pm Saturday (if/when DU advances to the Final). People can also watch the game here without game tickets.

$10 gets you into the reception where food and one drink ticket will be available. From there it is pay-as-you-go for drinks.

I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

Doing some digging, looks like the Haymarket station closure isn't due to end any time soon. While annoying, given that they're doing structural analysis to make sure the tunnels are still safe for the trains to go through without collapsing, I'm pretty OK with that.

That sucks for the green line as it's not running through Haymarket. At least Orange is passing through.
