For me... It all comes back to Pitlick taking that dumb penalty at the end of the 3rd. THAT is the reason the game was lost in OT, not a call by the ref on replay.
It can be both. Pitlick shouldn't have taken the penalty but it would also be nice for the refs to get the calls right.
Michigan scored 4 even strength goals on Saturday. The 1st line was on the ice for two and the 3rd line was on the ice for the other two although one was the Closer gifted wrapped goal.
Our two leading goal scores are only +8 (Pitlick) and +5 (Snuggy). Huglen is -7, Kurth is -3, and Lamb is +1.
For comparison Moore is +18, Brodzinski is +15, Nevers is +11, and Nelson is +10.
1st Line: Snuggy, Pitlick, and Moore have combined for 45 goals.
2nd Line: Nelson, Brodzinski, and Nevers have combined for 30 goals.
3rd Line: Lamb, Hugen, and Kurth have combined for 29 goals.
The 2nd Line has the best +/-
The Criticism Line is doing a much better job of keeping the puck out of our net.
Yes +/- isn't the be all end all but the 1st and 3rd lines can be better at keeping the puck out of our net.
The 2nd Michigan goal on Saturday was a 3 on 4 that turned into a 3 on 2 because both Pitlick and Snuggy got beat by the 3rd Michigan forward to the net.
on a team like the Gophers, that doesn't really chase matchups, +/- is a very telling stat.Michigan scored 4 even strength goals on Saturday. The 1st line was on the ice for two and the 3rd line was on the ice for the other two although one was the Closer gifted wrapped goal.

way too much work to Do this for me, but I think would also be interesting to see it game by game and when the lines got solidified. We’ve had some forwards out and a lot of shuffling to start the year plus we’ve also given up 3 EN goals and some right after PPs have expired.
There have been a noticeable number of controversial calls against the gophers this season (particularly recently) and I realize all fans probably see things this way for their team. That being said, how many of these either missed or just errant calls/no calls have very likely changed the trajectory or outcome of the game? Too many. Last game last year.... (enough about that), a couple 'goalie interference' calls that ONLY seem to go one way, and now a face off that at minimum should have come outside the zone in OT with 15 seconds left on a PK and not even a whistle. Not saying we would have won or even really deserved to win the game but those calls in those type of moments need to be accurate. The inconsistencies are really frustrating and need to be addressed. Also Gophers, maybe don't put yourself in positions where one call/no call will cause the outcome of the game to change.
I think that's the part that bugs me so much, how all these "judgement calls" consistently go against the Gophers. Yes, Michigan lost the one review, but that wasn't on a judgement call, that was "was there contact to the head?"
And, I still want someone to explain the OSU/PSU call from Friday night.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
