Love Ryan Johnson but JFC.
First the refs give Sparty a free power play that they score on and then they say that wasn't a Gopher goal. ?

Who was it a few weeks ago saying the refs give the Gophers breks? We get no favors.
Gophers score but now they are reviewing it.
With the rule they can count it as a goal even if the net is off if they decide the net being off didn't effect anything and if the net was in place the goal would have still been scored.
The refs reviewed it and counted it as a goal. Pino!!!!!!!
But now Michigan State is challenging for goalie inference.
Challenge is lost. Goal stands 2-2
Pino with his second in two nights.
BRODZINSKI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Johnson with a REALLY sweet pass setting up the break way. That helps make up for the earlier turn over that cost us the second Sparty goal.
A Sparty player with a hit to the head resulting in a 5 minute major and is kicked out the game.
Geez I don't think there was contact to the head there.
I couldn't see it either. Refs are super sensitive to that this year. I feel like this is going to swing at least 1 game in the tournament this year. I don't want players hurt but it feels like there should be something in the middle.Geez I don't think there was contact to the head there.
Defensemen had 2 goals last night, the 3rd line had two goals last night, the 2nd line has a goal today, and Pino/4th line has a goal both games.
If they get depth scoring with how good the top line is the ending of these season is going to be a lot of fun.
Drinking game: drink every time Clymer says unbelievable
Chesley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4-2
Knies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5-2
The flood gates have opened.
Snugs!!!! 6-2
Snuggy is such a great scorer
25 goals in 4 games v. Sparty this year.
Snuggy's quick release reminds me of Ove
The Gophers have now beaten Sparty 13 straight times.
Their all time record is 23 straight against wait for it
Sparty. It was in the 1950s. The 23 straight wins was stopped by a tie and then the Gophers beat them the next 5 times so 28-0-1.
Hopefully @Greyeagle will tell us about the 5-5 tie game on February 25, 1955. ?
Sparty, no!

My only only Debbie Downer comment for the weekend is they can't take long stretches of games off once the tournament starts like they did both nights vs MSU.
It’s my fault. I wasn’t sitting in my seat for the first. Once I moved back all was right with the world. 😉
A couple years ago at Norte Dame. When did a stick check become a hook?

I love how this team is the best team in the country yet every weekend people will find the 20 minutes they didn't play well and talk about it. Each weekend is 120 minutes or more if there is OT.
The other team is ALWAYS going to have a portion at some point where they get the upper hand.
NOT IF YOU"RE THE BEST TEAM IN THE COUNTRY! Or something. I guess. 😉
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Even the 1980's lead Gretzky teams wouldn't dominate teams for 60 minutes.
They would do what this team does. You get a good period against them you might win the period by a goal or like tonight the period will be tied. Then they would win periods by two goals or more just like this Gopher team does.
So, there was no realistic chance that tonight was going to be a repeat of last night. Sparty isn't a great team, but they are solid this year, so today was bound to be closer.Defensemen had 2 goals last night, the 3rd line had two goals last night, the 2nd line has a goal today, and Pino/4th line has a goal both games.

That said, the fact that it took something like 15 minutes before getting the second SOG for the Gophers is a serious problem. They addressed that problem during the 1st intermission, which is good, but that doesn't mean that the way the Gophers played the 1st period was acceptable, and pointing out that taking that much of a game off against a good team in the NCAAs will be a disaster is simply acknowledging the facts.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Quinnipiac, Denver, Penn State and Michigan have all been swept this season. St. Cloud is losing tonight so if they don't come back they've been swept too.
Something tells me the other top teams have a bad period too. ? Or many bad periods in a row to get swept.
National Champion winning teams often have a game or two in the playoffs where they get behind but since they are a great team they are able to over come a bad stretch in the game and still win.

Like I should talk I'm old enough that I went to games at old Mariucci as a kid.
Time to bring back Goldy's perch.
Koster seemed okay after the game signing autographs, which is good news.
Great weekend of hockey for our Gophers. Snuggeruds shot is unbelievable

I bet the posters on GPL back then were absolutely livid about the poor defense the Gophers played in that game. ?

Did anyone get an autograph form Koster - did he spell it right, know his number? 😉

Here are the Gophers magic numbers (points) against the teams that can still catch them.
Ohio State 9
Michigan 6
Penn State 3
Notre Dame 2
The magic number is higher vs. Michigan than Penn State/Notre Dame because Michigan has 8 conference games left while Penn State/Notre Dame both have 6 conference games left.
While the Gophers are off next weekend
Penn State is at Ohio State
Notre Dame is at Michigan State
Wisconsin is at Michigan
Ohio State dropping 3 points (one regulation loss) over their next four games (they play at Notre Dame the weekend we play at Wisconsin) would give the Gophers a chance to win the conference title in Madison if they take care of business against Bucky.

LOL.. he seemed happy and all good. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wore the C next year, very charismatic kid

Perhaps you remember what happened vs Union in the 2014 NC game?
I didn't say they have to dominate for 60 minutes - but if you go nearly a full period of lackluster play it can cost you dearly against a premium opponent playing at the top of their game.
Again it's just one small observation from someone that is one of the most optimistic fans around here. Cheers.

couldn’t agree more. You can’t do that in the postseason. Plus if you do that plus run into a hot goalie, can all be over just like that.
this team absolutely has all the horses to do it. Hopefully this is the year. Been a long time coming
The postgame including another day with a question from Jess that Bob is not a fan of..
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
