Speaking of the Penny Arcade incident, Engadget has finally surfaced:

Would have posted this sooner, but I just found out about it today.
Target has a sale on video games, a bunch of games are marked down to $40. Sale goes through tomorrow.
Got a $50 Target gift card for Christmas, planning on picking up Gears of War 3 for $40 tomorrow.
Played it at a friend's house, and the horde mode is AWESOME in this game. You have a "command post" where you can spend money to buy turrets or barriers. really fun and addicting!
My NHL 12 Minnesota Wild 2013-2014 forwards

Pumped to start my next season :dup:

Is that Thomas Vanek's evil twin that played at Wisconsin?

No idea where Nate came from
Gears is pretty sweet! :dup:
Batman Arkham City is sweet. I'm out at a buddy's place in Sioux Falls for the weekend and played that for a while a couple days ago. Pretty awesome.
At some point something turned and video games lost my interest. (before anyone gets this take wrong, I don't begrudge anyone that plays them I did for years). I used to love sitting down to Madden, or Tiger Woods or NHL. I never really got into any RP or FPS games for some reason (other than Counter-Strike on a PC) and I've tried to sit down with the kids' Wii and play a game or two and for some reason I can't do it anymore. I have no idea why and I miss it a bit.

To be honest, that's your problem, haha... As the years have gone by, there have been very few quality Wii games.
I get that the Wii is a step below the X or PS but it's the sitting down and playing part that I haven't been able to grasp onto again. Tiger on the Wii is every bit as good as it was on the XBOX but I got bored.

Yes^
My mom has gotten us crappy Wii games for Christmas the last few years. Games like this:
That Mom's think look really fun for the kids, get played on Christmas day and NEVER again

Yeah, I'll give you that for Tiger Woods--that game was pretty fun on the Wii. However, I would give some other, more mature games a try--deeper games. Give the deep RPGs a chance (that means playing through the first ten hours, as those are typically the slower or more boring portions of the game), or something with a meaningful story, etc.

I heard Skyrim is a game that would be ideal for what Rowsh is saying. I don't know if you would be totally lost without having played the previous versions of that franchise but everything I've ever heard about Skyrim is fantastic.
I'm also not that much into video games as I used to be, and like Slappy, I never got into the RPGs or FPSs (not for lack of trying).
However, I do still like me some racing games like Gran Turismo, or the occasional Madden game.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

Skyrim is AWESOME. I've never played any of the Elder Scrolls games, and you are correct, it is not necessary to play any of the previous games.
I am about 30 hours into the game, and am just barely scratching the surface of everything the game has to offer!
I know some people can be intimidated by a game that massive, but it is a very accessible game. Feels like a game that I will be able to have for a very long time (number of years) and keep coming back to play it.
Got an N64 for myself for Christmas... there has never and will never be a better football video game than NFL Blitz. Also, Mario Kart 64 is still super super fun. As is Starfox. Old video games FTW!

Wherever they're cheapest, haha...
Good bets are Gamestop, Best Buy, and Target. Check the ads, a lot of games go on sale or have gift card bonuses!
This.
Best Buy, Amazon, Target usually.
Definitely watch the ads and see if some cheap stuff pops up any of those places. I have had luck on EBay finding some cheap games if you are willing to wait it out and find the right one to bid on.

No doubt on this one. NFL Blitz was great and nothing beats (drunken) 4 person Mario Kart 64 races/battles.
I always preferred NFL Xtreme to NFL Blitz but both were fun games
Now that winter is upon us the PS2 might need to come out! Or perhaps Ebay has an NES that will catch my eyes
I wish I could find John Elway on a current format - that game at Ridgedale took many of my quarters.
I'm always the Bears in blitz (the worst team in the game) - Kramer to Enis is a deadly combination!
Freshmen year we played Extreme for hours...one roommate was always the Cardinals...Jake Plummer to Frank Sanders was unstoppable
Bought SkyRim and Kinect Sports - Season 2. Both were big hits so far.
We also bought Wipeout for the XBox/Kinect. Terrible is a compliment. It basically is random. Perfect example of why to avoid games branded from TV Shows, etc.

VodkaKart 64.
So many missing memories from college. One of our VodkaKart nights ended with a friend of mine urinating on his couch, his floor, his laptop, his cell phone, and the vending machine they won in a drawing from a bar (stocked with beer daily), and then passing out naked on a leather chair in the fetal position.
I also like Mario Golf with shots of beer (you had to take 1 shot of beer for each shot you took during the round).

I would love to find something like an old Zork or Ultima game somewhere I could play on my PC or iPad. I'm more into sports and puzzle games myself.
All of you who have been waxing nostalgic for classic video games may just have to visit here. It's located on Lake Street.

I want to get something I can use to watch Netflix (tried a device by WD but has some issues). Thinking of getting an Xbox since I can then also watch DVDs. Is the 4GB version going to be adequate it is used for some games as well or will I quickly regret not having the 250GB model?

Just FYI, you can watch Blu-Rays and DVDs on PS3 consoles.
Anyone know of any good NES or Super NES emulators that I could download on my PC and play all of the old classics like Zelda, ext....?

Is a PS3 the way to go over Xbox? Can still stream Netflix?

Everyone has their own opinion. You can do Netflix on the PS3 and it plays Blu-Rays and DVDs as I mentioned. If you want to use it for online gaming, the Playstation Network(PSN) is free whereas XBox Live you pay a yearly fee. It's is all a matter of preference.

CONSOLE FLAME WAR. IT'S ON!!!! :chainsaw: :chainsaw: :chainsaw:
:biggrin2:
If you are mainly going to use the console for Netflix/movies, PS3 is definitely the way to go. Blu-ray is awesome.

I used to use this site to find emulators and roms. The best NES one I used was Nesticle but there are tons.

Here's a good resource I found yesterday, if you're buying games for your computer.
Find the game you want to buy, and it tests your system to see if you meet the minimum/recommended requirements for PC games. Gives you a pass/fail for all the categories (CPU/Video Card/Audio, etc, etc, etc).
I have it bookmarked for future use :good2:
I remember back in 2006 that Bungee said H3 would be the last in the main sequence. The day I heard that I called BS. I knew it was only a matter of when H4 came out. I was laughed at because I thought H4 was inevitable.
Ha, I was looking for this thread at the bottom of page 1, and on page 2. Looked for a solid 30-40 seconds before finally hitting Ctrl+F and saw it at the top!
Just saw the AC3 trailer.
DO WANT.

My buddy owes me 20 bucks. I told him that there would without a doubt be a Halo 4. He didn't believe me. Nobody in their right mind would see that franchise making that much money every time they release a new game and say "Meh, we don't need a Halo 4 or the billions of dollars it will make for us."
Does anyone else play Battlefield 3 online (360)? I play it way to much haha. If you do it was announced today that there would be 3 expansion packs released throughout this year. Pretty pumped!

My roommate and I play BF3 on the 360 every once in a while! I like it a lot better than COD

I'm confident I made a bet as well. Don't remember the person or the amount though...

I never got into COD. Not sure why. I've always played Battlefield.
Any TF2 players out there? My steam name is the same as on here...

Not to ruin your bets, but Bungie isn't making Halo 4. Once they broke away from Micro$oft, they agreed to make ODST and Reach, but Micro$oft's company, 343i, is making the new Halo trilogy.

I didn't say Bungie would make Halo 4. I just said there would be a H4.
Much like the different Call of Duty games have been made by different providers.
A few random thoughts/questions...
- Anyone playing Battlefield 3? If so, is anyone interested in forming a GPL platoon on PS3? It'd be kind of fun to have a team made up of Gopher Hockey fans.
- If you are interested, my PS3 identity is the same as the one I have here...southtexgopher.
- If you're a BF3 fan, have you seen this video (and his others)? Simply genius.
