Most likely I will never finish the game and I dont care!

Oh yeah. If I'm riding along and somebody gives me a negative comment I definitely shoot them.

I found a sweet Viking helmet and viking hatchet the other day. It is SUPER fun to use. ?

If you're playing RDR2 late at night and wanna get a little creeped out, ride through the swamps north of Saint Denis when it's night time in the game. Particularly after like 10:30pm.

Yep. Creepy.

RDR2 is fantastic. I often find myself dealing with a situation, it gets witnessed, and before too long I've left a trail of bodies across the countryside.. one simple task turns into an absolute cluster.. :D

Yep! Any time someone witnesses me committing a crime, there's a 70% chance they end up taking a dirt nap. I usually try to talk them out of it but if they are too far away to catch, it is sniper time ?

Is that where the zombie people are? I was looking for Miss Belle and got attacked. I killed them but yeah uber creepy.

I got mauled by another bear...and a panther!

I have played it like 18 hours the last few days and I am at 16%. What sucks is I have so many bounties on my head sometimes I cant go anywhere so I just ride around looking for stuff to do/kill.

In case you didn't know, bounties can be payed off at any post office.

Or have you been so nefarious that you can't afford to pay your bounties? LoL

I don't think I've gotten jumped by a panther. Cougars and bears, yes. And a gator or two that I didn't know existed before.

The zombie people (the night folk) are in the swamp. Also, I'm pretty sure it is haunted.

The more I play this game the more I love it.

So many random Easter eggs. The giant jungle book snake? Brilliant.

Just found a vampire in Saint Denis too!

I've got about half of the 30 dinosaur bones to find. I just completed all of the rock carvings. Picked up another treasure map from a hermit too.

It feels crazy that I've only reached 92.5% completion.

Also note: any goodies you loot off of dead bodies can be sold to a fence if you're in desperate need of cash, rather than donating them to the camp like I usually did. I kept all the high dollar stuff for myself (gold bars, nuggets, etc.) but like the belt buckles and necklaces and rings I donated to the camp fund.

Damn you guys, now I am gonna have to buy this game for myself for Christmas.

Decided to go with Wild tickets for the boy, a lot of money for one night, but he will remember it long after a video game.

Yeah...I dont have that kind of money and every time I make a little something jumps me and I die in epic fashion! Like 3 times today either bounty hunters, robbers and yes...one time a bear...came out and shot me. Its partly my fault cause I have such ADD in the game but STILL! I need money cause I am not progressing super fast ;)

Im not complaining mind you, I laugh out loud literally ever time!

I've been fond of gunning down any Lemoyne Raiders I come across. Good little source of items to bring to a fence.

Them and the O'Driscolls are my favorite gang to loot. Once you get into the swamps and beyond, the loot gets pretty weak.

Are having bounties on you unavoidable or would the gameplay be too boring if you're not doing things to earn them?

Sometimes the plot of the game forces you into having bounties. After all, you're a gang of outlaws. So you will have missions where you rob banks and such, where you obviously pick up a bounty.

But the larger portion of the game, you can definitely avoid getting a bounty. You can play the game largely as a pacifist if you want. If you bump into someone and they threaten you, or you stumble upon someone who is hostile towards you, you're given the option to antagonize or defuse. 90% of the time defusing the situation works, and you can simply walk away. Even if you do pick up a bounty, most times it's easy to pay it off with the money you have on you. Unless you go on a major killing spree.

The bounties are also dependent on where you commit a crime, and who sees you doing it. If you punch someone in the middle of a big city with hundreds of people around, you're going to have tons of witnesses who will report you to the police.

However, if you are riding out in the country, and you see a wagon that you want to steal, you can just kill the people on it and take it. No witnesses, no bounty. The only penalty is your honor will go down.

Even if you are out in the country and someone does happen to see you commit a crime, your screen will flash alerting you that someone witnessed you commit a crime. You can chase them down and threaten them into silence, or simply kill them too. You can also wear a bandana to hide your face. Witnesses will have a tougher time identifying you, so if you want to just make a break for it before they are able to get a good look at you, you won't get a bounty.

Tl;dr

Yes, you can actually go most of the game without picking up significant bounties if you're smart about your crimes and where you commit them.

However, sometimes the story does force you to have some significant bounties.

Cool. I didn't realize the premise is a gang of outlaws. Kinda bummed neither kid was psyched when I asked them if they wanted it for Xmas since it reduces the likelihood I'll buy it.

It would be tough to play for a multi-kid household unless they each have their own console. It's a single player game so they'd have to either have their own game or save games and be willing to rotate hours or something.

I kind of, in a sadistic way, want to start a second version of the game and make all different choices. I have wasted so much time and not gotten much done. I did just finish a mission where I had to find a bunch of old gunslingers to help right a book...died many times killing those hombres LoL

This.

My play through right now is where I'm trying to be the good guy whenever possible -- helping with camp chores, giving money to those in need, helping people out in the sticks that may need a ride to a doctor, etc.

Next time I'm going straight up evil road agent. Everyone gets robbed or shot. :D

That is my plan after I reach 100% completion in this go-around. I'm up to 95.3% now. Most of what I've got left are the different challenges (horseman, herbalist, survivalist, sharpshooter, etc.)

Hope you install it a night before attempting to play. It is a hell of a long install. But totally worth it.

I'm up to 96.7% completion now. One of my biggest remaining quests is a pain in the ass mission from the hunting request lady. I need to kill tiny ass birds and Chipmunks and make sure they are perfect carcasses. That one is going to take a while.

The hardest part is going to be getting the different stats to level 10. I've got two of them at level 10 (herbalist is complete, horseman I'm two horses away from completing level 10, survivalist I need to catch 7 more species of fish to complete it). The sharpshooter, bandit, gambler, and weapons ones are going to be tough to complete.

The gambler one I'm on now I have to win 3 hands of blackjack while hitting at least 3 times...

I put the disc in yesterday before dinner and then we went to some friends house last night so we should be good to go today...although the kids are around today so it probably won’t happen until tonight.

I got my kid Forza Horizon 4 and we are about 5-10% through that and it is pretty slick.

I really want to 100% this game, but yeah those challenges seem tedious... Lol

I'm hoping in the time it takes be to 100% it, there will be some single player DLC released! I think I'm at 89.1% right now.

Spoilers hidden if you're not in chapter 6 or beyond:

[hide]I really wish I had explored Guarma more to find the different animals you can get there. I think I saw that it's not required to get 100% for that but there are 6-7 animals on the island to see, kill, and skin that I wish I had thought about.

I saw a glitch to get to Guarma through the Mexico glitch online but I guess it takes like half an hour or more to get there if you don't want to use a cheat code to respawn a horse once you get into Mexico. We'll see how much time I feel like wasting once I get to that point.[/hide]

I am at like 28%. Story is moving along much better now though missions popping up all the time. I took a couple day break though it was getting pretty crazy. Plus I got Madden 18 and wanted to try it out. Not sure I like it much they make it very tough to win.

Yeah once you get through like... Half of chapter 2, maybe 3/4ths of chapter 2 it starts picking up the intensity. Once you get to chapter 4 the S really starts to hit the fan and it becomes really tough to put down.

Dumb question. Do you have to install RDR2 completely? I don’t have a problem with it and my last console was a Wii/PS2, but I need the disc for NHL ‘17, but there are 2 discs for RDR2 and my download was halted because it needed disc 2.

My Xbox is a 500GB one and before I bought it I was told by a Microsoft employee I would never need anything bigger unless I was downloading movies.

Do you guys delete a game after you play it awhile? My problem is I have 4 different people that have their own games and I don’t want to delete their progress if I remove a game they hardly play.

Yeah, you have to install the whole thing, and it's massive. About 100GB.

I bought an 2TB external HDD to store games on, it was only like 50 bucks. So I don't have to worry about storage space (yet). But yeah, games are getting bigger and bigger. When GTA V came out people thought it was massive, RDR2 is almost double the size of that. Shock

It took me a long time to get going as well. I was so enthralled by the world (I still am, really) that I spent so much time hunting and exploring. Like Beauner said, after like chapter 3, the story REALLY picks up, and I had to restrain myself from just going from story mission to story mission one after another, lol

The stuff you just stumble across is mine blowing though. If you see a run down cottage as you're riding by, stop and go in it. So much random, creepy, mysterious, etc stuff hidden in places like that. Some of it is lucrative, and you find items to sell.

Plus the random hidden weapons that you can stumble across. I found an old Viking hatchet and Viking helmet and Viking comb a couple weeks ago.

That hatchet is fuuuuun. Found an ancient tomahawk too.

My honor has gone to hell since the epilogue. So many random murders. I kept that pretty limited during the OG storyline.

I enjoy the occasional volatile dynamite thrown in the swamp version of fishing ? though I did lose like 5 honor points for killing like 20 Gators with that. And got a bounty for disturbing the peace. ?

Jeepers, I just figured out to wake Uncle up to head to town.

So, with hunting, every deer I have shot has had a bad hide. Is that because of my aim? Also, I know I am early on, but I can only take my pistol hunting at this point? What happpened to my rifle I had in Chapter 1?

Each animal has a different weapon you have to use to get a perfect pelt. While you're hunting, if you lock your target in on an animal (or view then with your binoculars, if you're not close enough), you'll have the option to study them, if you haven't discovered them. It just "view info" if you have discovered them. This will tell you what weapon you need to use for a clean kill. Deer, you have to use a rifle. Smaller animals like rabbits you have to use a varmint rifle, or small game arrows.

As for the weapon, did you do the hunting tutorial with Charles? That should equip you with a bow. Also make sure it's not on your horse. When you're on your horse you can cycle through any weapons you have stored on it.

Hides are directly impacted by what you hunt them with, as well as what they started out as and how many shots you fire.

As you find more animals you'll add them to your "compendium" and the compendium information will give you more information about proper weapons to kill different animals with. One-hit ("clean") kills are also a must. I've yet to get a perfect pelt with multiple shots.

Generally speaking for midsize animals (deer, rams, wolves, some gators, etc., I use a Springfield rifle or bolt action rifle). For smaller animals (rabbits, squirrels, Badgers --and you're damn right I kill every badger I find, I don't need no stinking Badgers!!, Raccoons, etc will typically go down with a varmint rifle and yield a good pelt (as long as they had one to begin with).

Bow and arrows with small game arrows are also good for squirrels, etc. Regular arrows if you get headshots work for most deer IIRC. If you can craft improved arrows those are basically automatic one-hit kills on anything up to cows/bulls/oxen.

My horse was right next to some random guy in Saint Denis and all I was trying to do was to get on the horse. Instead, I stomped on the man's foot. Long story short, the bulk of the Saint Denis police department was after me.
