So I had some time this morning to stream the new Metallica on Spotify to see if I will be buying it or not. I like it but not sure enough if I want to buy it. I will agree with some that are saying that James sings in the same tone the entire album, I realize most singers do that but it kind of seems like an AC/DC album full of songs that sound similar but just different enough. I do like the sound of the album though, what I mean by that is the production of the album...how the guitars and drums sound.
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!
I usually give an album 2-3 full listens all the way through (outside those that I will buy outright just because) before I decide. As in I do nothing but listen to it non-stop start to finish before I judge if I want to buy or not. I never will buy a full album for one single I liked from the radio or whatever. In some cases it turns me off and I don't buy, others I decide I want it but can wait, and then there are those I can't buy fast enough.
I have the new Metallica CD and I like it so far.
You can hear drums and solos, which is good.

No idea how I haven't seen this until now. This may be more belonging in the unpopular opinions thread but to me, at 31yrs old, Slipknot is the best band of my generation, for sure metal band. The Paul grey tribute is amazing, who says metal guys don't have hearts!

Godsmack, IMO. I don't mind Slipknot, but not quite my cup of tea. They rank right around Korn, for my tastes.

Godsmack is solid, I do really like Korn, but for me, Slipknot and Alice In Chains don't have a bad song in the repertoire.
Related, movie thread....found this clip on youtube....this is pre-label, there's at least half a dozen (finished songs) that have bases in this freestyle. Friggin' amazing. ODB unleashing his magic.

Dear 2016...knock this :censored: off. Thank you
Digging through old GM songs and such, and others posting his performances...he was really good. I guess the phrase "don't know what you got 'til it's gone" is very apt here. His Freddie Mercury Tribute appearance...amazing:

Agreed. I didn't like most of his work, but that doesn't mean he didn't have a ton of talent.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
FU 2016.
That is all.
So weird....but last week I dug out an old Wham! CD and had listened to it a few days on my way into work. Was just feeling like listening to some George Michael. The news of his passing hit me hard. I immediately started to cry when I heard. He was absolutely one of my favorite singers ever.
Finding new music is rare for me these days. I like these two though.
Letters From the Fire (Kind of a Garbage, Evanescense hybrid)
Amaranthe (This song is different. Other stuff they have is similar to above)
No doubt on Porcupine Tree. Saw Steven Wilson solo earlier this year and it was fantastic. Hope they reform to cut a new album and tour sometime soon.

Happy they're expected to recover. David Garibaldi is awesome.
This came on my MP3 today, and it just was perfect timing. I was in the mood for this, and it hit. Simply beautiful:

I had no idea who he was before the latest SNL, but Sturgill Simpson killed it both songs!
I really love the musical groove of this song, and the lyrics/delivery are odd enough to hook me.

If there are any tame impala fans out there. Check out temples, they have a similar sound to their earlier work. Specifically the album sun structures.

I like to harass my wife about how sheltered a life she lived as a kid and for certain things she just may not be aware of. This was tonight's conversation
Me: Chuck Berry died today
Her: Oh... (lost look)
Me: You do know who he was right?
Her: Game show host right... 2 and 2
I damn near dropped my beer and the ensuing face palm (after 2 minutes of non stop laughing) may have given me a concussion. I love her to death but I certainly didn't marry her for her love of pop culture
