I'm in Deephaven right now and there is band playing in Wayzata for JJ Hill days and I can hear them plain as day. I know sound carries across water but the hell that's a pretty good distance.
You missed ZZ Top last night. Saw a couple of clips, via a friend, they still have it. I guess they had a recording of Dusty Hill singing "Tush" and that's the vocals they used when they played it. I thought that was pretty awesome.
Saw ZZ a few times in the 80's actually - but I wouldn't have hated seeing them again.
"Eliminator" was tied for the first album (key word) I got (the other being Weird Al's "In 3-D"). Simply put: they were a solid blues/rock band, through and through. Nothing flashy, nothing special, but man, you got into that groove so easily.

I mean come on!!
It's not emo, it's not "feel sorry for me," it's rage. I like it.

Got my TOOL ticket for Mar 22nd. It is 20 minutes after they went on sale and there are still tickets available. I have seen them 8 times, and never seen tickets available after about 3 minutes...

I'm sure most have seen it or hear about it, buy Kacey Musgrave played while butt-nekkid on SNL this past Sat. I do like her music, this is a very good song.

And 50 years later, in Cuba of all places, with a million plus rock-starved fans in attendance.
Since it seems to be “Brown Sugar” day on GPL, here’s a fun version released on a bonus disc when Sticky Fingers was remastered several years back.
Tim McGraw in concert in Reno shows how classy he is, flips off fans heckling him for screwing up the words to a song then jumps off the stage to what? Punch them out? His security kept him from doing more than shoving them. Nice…

Love this old school meets new school revival.
I can't even...
Sirius has a new channel called 70's/80's Instrumentals. It is outstanding. They just played Little Wing by SRV.
It's only available through the app or streaming so it doesn't have a channel number.

Edit: this counts. But, one probably should be a big fan. It's....a long one.

Got to throw a flag on both. Both are very good, But.... One has a couple of vocalists and the other is from 1966-67.

Crap. Fine print. I knew about the one, duh.
Steve Vai's "The Audience Is Listening" counts. So fine, here are a couple that are also borderline, since they were computer generated, AFAIK:
Rockit, Herbie Hancock
Pump Up The Volume, M/A/R/R/S
And one that def counts: Axel F, Harold Faltermeyer.

I love the Top Gun Anthem by Steve Stevens.
I'm really enjoying the instrumental station. Such a wide variety...Mason Williams, Hooked on Classics, Joe Satriani, Allman Brothers, SRV just to name a few.

Your original post on the subject really got me thinking about all of my albums from the 70's and 80's. It made for an interesting walk down memory lane. All of the cuts I posted are off of albums I've had for years, and almost all of those bands I've seen live. :dup:
Great fun. Great music never gets old. In most cases, in retrospect, it's like I can't believe how great the music and musicianship is, even after all these years.
I may get flamed for this because it shows my hair band roots but Dokken's "Mr. Scary" is one of my all time favorites. I was going to post a You Tube video of it but there are none worth posting because they all have George Lynch going all "I'm super cool guitar guy that can't play a song the same way twice" in all of them. Also I like Steve Vai's "The Audience is Listening"...again, it's a hair band era thing.
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!

I love George. Lotsa good stuff in the Dokken, Lynch Mob, George Lynch catalog.
Epic!
Wow
That voice....no. Good actual music, but that voice hurts my ears.

And if you listen to anything listen to this and pump up your soul:
Great Steely Dan cover
Just read a great article about Robert Johnson and was reminded of this tremendous cover of one of my favorite RJ songs.
“When your best friend is the son of God, you get tired of losing every argument.”

:biggrin2:
I am quite excited about the Get Back Beatles documentary being released at the end of the month!!
You know you're doing something right if Emmylou Harris will sing back-up for you.
Just watched Young's 2006 live show/movie from the Ryan Auditorium, it was pretty good.

Emmylou was scheduled to sing backup for me during my appearance at The Ryman many years ago. Unfortunately, she had a scheduling conflict, so they substituted Billy Ray Cyrus instead. :puke:
Another one featuring Emmylou, this time paired with Mark Knopfler.

If you ever get a chance to see a show at the Ryman I highly recommend it. One of the coolest venues I've ever been to.
Little Feat coming to The Ryman on March 16,17.

I have no idea how I missed this. I love the live performance of the song, GREAT version, and love everything Rancid. This performance, given his age and appearance, it adds meaning. A salty vet of punk just venting and explaining his life. No holds barred.
