I didn't go to the Sunday show but I was at Saturdays (2nd to last). Jerry was not well but it was still awesome being at Soldier Field with 60,000 Dead Heads.

I allegedly have a CD of one of those shows. ;)

If it is from July 8th, 1995, PLEASE PM me.

July 9th. I'm sorry. :( I'm pretty sure if you did some digging, it's out there somewhere.

Thanks for checking. I'm glad you brought it up. I should do some digging because I should have that. Thanks Rube!

Not really that unheard of since the Dead welcomed bootlegging of every show. Cripes check out their concert albums on Spotify alone.

Not sure this dude has gotten his full due:

Deep Bowie dive:

McCartney, Grohl, Smear and Noveselic? And watching Grohl go balls to the wall for one of his heroes? Come on now...

Finally a bit of BB to kick your soul into high gear:

Had a Dr. appointment this morning. Passed a guy in the waiting area wearing a Gopher stocking cap, a Gopher mask, and a Better Dead than Red T-shirt. Gotta love it!

Doing a challenge with some friends. Have a "Pick Of The Day" going, and since it's Black History Month, going with Black artists only. It's kind of a challenge. I don't want some random pick (with this challenge overall). The song needs to be hittin' the spot. Today's pick is one that I had not heard in a long time, and brought back many memories of my youth. IIRC, he was about 16-17 at the time. This was on his debut album. You want a GOAT? Here he is. :D

Dude?

The song was featured in The Big Lebowski (although it was the Kenny Rogers version).

The Dude: Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

Got it. Never saw the movie so the reference was lost on me.

Up against previous lists that's actually pretty solid top to bottom.

RNR HOF is a joke to me, frankly.

That being said, LL and Jay-Z should def be in. Rage, Foos, and Dolls should be in. IIRC, Tina is nominated as a solo act (she's already in with Ike), and Carol should be in (in already as a non-performer).

Go-Go's are meh for me, as much as I like them. Maiden, I never got into, so can't say either way without substance behind it.

Agreed.

A couple of good lists of worthy artists.

https://bestclassicbands.com/rock-hall-omissions-12-13-1777/

https://bestclassicbands.com/rock-hall-snubs-12-14-17/

Albert Collins. The Master of the Telecaster

Long overdue.

Saw this thread on Twitter last night: Favorite/Best opening lines in music. It started with "She was an American girl, raised on promises. While I think it is one of TP's best songs, I think he has many other better opening lines. I responded with, "She's a good girl, loves her momma, loves Jesus and America too." Some other great openers from the Heartbreakers:

“We got something / We both know it / We don’t talk too much about it”

“Oh baby, don’t it feel like heaven right now / Don’t it feel like something from a dream”

“I’m passing sleeping cities / Fading by degrees / Not believing all I see to be so”

“Well it was nearly summer / We sat on your roof / We smoked cigarettes / And we stared at the moon”

There were some really great ones on Twitter, whatcha got GPL music lovers?

Bob can bring it...

Oh, God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"

Abe say, "Man, you must be puttin' me on"

God say, "No", Abe say, "What?"

God say, "You can do what you want Abe

But the next time you see me comin', you better run"

One more that grabbed me & wouldn't let go the first time I heard it....

I pulled into Nazareth, was feelin' about half past dead

I just need some place where I can lay my head

"Hey, mister, can you tell me where a man might find a bed?"

He just grinned and shook my hand, "No" was all he said

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds snakes and aeroplanes, Lenny Bruce is not afraid

Old man, look at my life, I'm a lot like you were...

There must be some kinda way out of here, said the joker to the thief..

Marky got with Sharon, Sharon got Sherice, she was sharing Sharon's outlook on the topic of disease. Mikey had a facial scar and Bobby was a racist, they were all in love with dyin', they were doing it in Texas...

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away

You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, that much is true

I was born in a cross-fire hurricane, and I howled at my ma in the driving rain

She used to work in a diner

Never saw a woman look finer

I used to order just to watch her float across the floor

And like it or not, it was a certain truth:

F* the police comin' straight from the underground

A young ni**a got it bad 'cause I'm brown

That opening lyric still is insane and a punch to any face nowadays.....

She had hair like Jeannie Shrimpton, back in 1965

She had legs that never ended

I was halfway paralyzed

She was tall and cool and pretty

And she dressed as black as coal

If she'd ask me to, I'd murder

I would gladly lose my soul
