Has anyone watched the Laurel Canyon film? It's been on one of the movie channels I get on Comcast (Epix??) recently and it's really interesting. The convergence of talent in that small area is amazing. Worth a watch if you're interested.

Between that film and watching The Eagles concert on ESPN I was reminded how much I enjoyed Linda Ronstadt's music and I'm listening to a greatest hits album I just purchased. I always forget how good she is. Also cute in a Dodgers jacket singing the anthem for those old enough to remember.....
I love Linda Ronstadt. Saw her at the Civic Center in 1979, if I recall correctly. There is a wonderful documentary on her, "Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice", released in April of 2019. Watched it on CNN earlier this Spring. Awfully cute in the Cub Scout outfit as well.
I just saw on Twitter that at one time, Linda Ronstadt had all 4 original Eagles in her band before anyone had heard of them.

The boys finally convinced me about a week ago to go with Spotify Premium and for someone like me that is listens to music as much as I can it is FREAKING AWESOME!!
Combined with Google I've discovered more new music in the past few weeks than I had probably the previous 2 years at least. I now have a playlist made only of full albums with over 4,700 songs for 340 hours of music. It's great for playing on random and I will never hear the same song twice. Plus it consists of albums I love across many genres and decades, and I'll continue to add to it over time.
Google, "best ____ albums of 2019" or instance and then play them on Spotify to see if you like them or not, then save at will. Plus downloading for being able to play when offline? It's pure musical heaven!

The annual August music celebration, which in the past has featured four different bands playing consecutively outdoors at Mount Olivet Church in Plymouth, has been scaled back to a one band live streaming event this year. The good news: it's free.

Just listened to Dark Side Of the Moon for the first in a few months from start to finish and it reminded me that from start to finish there is not a better record anywhere on the planet ever. Fight me!

It's tough to argue that one.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Yacht Rock Radio on Sirius/XM is one of my go to stations right now along with Road Trip Radio.
Toots Hibbard of Toots And The Maytalls has passed away, most likely due to the Rona/underlying issues. Reggae legend.

741 weeks on the Billboard album chart from 1973 - 1988. THAT is staying power. Got it in '73 when I was 13 and it still resides in the queue
Have it on SACD, and it makes excellent use of the surrounds.

There is a caveat with that. Many bought the CD and/or cassette as their vinyl wore out (or just switched to the newer formats). That being said, it's still impressive.

My dad gave it to me on vinyl for Christmas that year - of course he and my brother got plenty of use out if it too!
Dark side is probably the best album ever.

I really like the R&R HOF station, very eclectic mix.

I love this song but I think even Ashley Simpson could do a better job of lip syncing.

Say whatever you want about the list. Everyone has an opinion. But MN landed two of the top ten albums of all time in the most recent Rolling Stone list.

I bet I listen to Blood On The Tracks at least once every-other month, if not more.
It's just fantastic.

Ditto with me and "The Ramones."
Love that the Wu-Tang was that high, also.

The other one in the top 100 I listen to a lot is Kind of Blue. It's fun to see that in the list and, for some reason, it's curious sandwiched between Beyonce' & Jimi.

Last night I took some time to scan through the full list. Regardless of one's thoughts regarding rankings the notes on each album are very interesting. In particular this tidbit from "Some Girls" stuck out to me, Keith Richards is hilarious.
Q: Why did you name it "Some Girls"?
Keith Richards: Because we couldn't remember their f
g names.
Classic.

Obviously these lists are subjective. But any list that has Exile on Main Street outside of the top five is null and void to me.
What’s your favorite song by one of your favorite artists that never made it as a big hit?
I have a couple
Blue Highway by Billy Idol
Hair by Lady Gaga
5150 (the song) by Van Halen
1) Far Away Eyes - Rolling Stones
2) For You Blue - The Beatles
3) Brooklyn (Owes The Charmer Under Me) - Steely Dan
4) Lily, Rosemary, & The Jack Of Hearts - Bob Dylan

A couple that don't follow Zwak's criteria to the letter, but...
I like Chuck Berry a lot, but wouldn't call him one of my top favorites. Having said that, "Thirty Days" is a song I only came across a few years ago, but it's definitely my favorite over his more well known hits.
A couple of Rolling Stones songs that may not be my favorites, but they weren't hits and I do like them a lot. "Slipping Away" is on the live Stripped album and is more a Keith song than a Stones song. If you don't think Keith's singing has any redeeming qualities, then don't bother.
There was a Sticky Fingers Revisited CD put out a while back with the original stuff remastered and some bonus material added. There is an alternate cut of "Dead Flowers" that is a little more bluesy and less country than the cut that was on the album.
And Justice For All--Metallica
By The Time I Get To Arizona--Public Enemy
Coma--GNR
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order
Innervision - System of a Down
Makes No Sense At All - Husker Du
Alex Chilton - The Replacements
Love is the Law - The Suburbs
Eulogy - Tool
Echoes - Pink Floyd
Rain - The Beatles
Hey Bulldog - The Beatles
Yer Blues - The Beatles
I Me Mine - The Beatles
Blue Jay Way - The Beatles
Because - The Beatles
I Want You - The Beatles
Happiness is a warm gun - The Beatles
Savoy Truffle - The Beatles
Norwegian Wood - The Beatles
Glass Onion - The Beatles
I've Just Seen A Face--The Beatles
Shelter From The Storm--Bob Dylan
Sunday Morning Coming Down--Kris Kristofferson

A really enjoyable album, another fantastic live gem on Stripped is "The Spider & The Fly".

Guitar Town - Steve Earle
Girl From the North Country - Bob Dylan
Are You Sure Hank Done It This Away? - Waylon Jennings
Centerfold - J Geils Band
Honkytonk Woman - Stones
Watching the River Flow - Bob Dylan
Jewel Eyed Judy - Fleetwood Mac (Danny Kirwin, Jeremy Spencer era)

Regarding Fleetwood Mac one of my favorite underrated songs is Ebony Eyes by former FM member Bob Welch.
What songs are like fingernails on a chalkboard to you. Not just songs you dislike but REALLY dislike/hate. I have a couple.
