McCartney 3, 2, 1 on Hulu has been absolutely sublime. I wish I could go back and hear them for the first time again.
Loki finale: Brilliant
[hide]definitely did not expect this series to introduce an Avengers level villain like Kang[/hide]
[hide]It was well known that Kang was coming in this series but note he would never say that his name was Kang. I believe his big intro will be in the next Ant Man but that’s not until 2023. Majors is in the process of being the next breakout actor. [/hide]
[hide]I knew Kang was going to be the main villain in Antman Quantumania and was probably going to be introduced in this series in some way, just didn't think they'd go that hard with it right away. Majors is going to be brilliant.[/hide]
Hearing now that the show runners let him improvise that scene. He moved a lot more than they expected. You can actually see it when you watch it again. He moves, then the camera moves to keep him in the shot. Guy is crazy talented.
So I regrettably gave a show called Love Island (UK) 20 minutes of my time. It's sort of a Survivor meets dating reality show in which a dozen or so 20-somethings are locked in a villa and hoo boy does the never-ending fun ensue!
Aside from the show being insipid, what is it with the yoots of England? Imagine someone talking with a British accent and then almost never allowing their lips to touch - as if every word rolls into the next with the last fading off into oblivion. They come across as lazy or disinterested. I haven't been to England for a bit, but one of our neighbors is a lovely couple from London, I watched The Crown and they never talked like that!
I stumbled upon Season 1 of DAVE which has now started S2. E1 was a bit slow but by E3 it really hit its stride and is a really smart comedy. I'm hoping it will continue.
I'm going to say I'm actually looking forward to the season finale of Kevin Can F*** Himself on AMC. I like the premise and the execution of the show more than the story, but it's very well done. However had I tried to watch it in real-time I probably would have abandoned it halfway through the first episode.
The show starts out as a pretty conventional (if over the top) sit com where the wife is vastly smarter and better looking than her oaf of a husband, but as the show goes on it's revealed that when she's not around her husband her life's not a comedy.
Not great, but it takes some much needed swipes at the entire genre of sitcoms.
Animal Kingdom on TNT just started its Season 5 and
kicks butt! It’s definitely worth a watch
I honestly thought this show was done. I had seen all episodes up to season 5 apparently.
Started rewatching Brooklyn 99 the other day.
I forgot how much I loved this show.

For me, the show falls under the category of "guilty pleasure." It's one that I reluctantly admit I watch.
It's little more than an assemblage of immoral, unethical antiheros making their way through lives of crime and mayhem...and yet...it's pretty entertaining.

Just watched the American Experience episode about L. Frank Baum. Not surprisingly it was wonderfully done. I had no previous knowledge of his backstory (such as his connection to castorine oil) nor the impetuses for creating the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. He tried to make his way as the seller of fancy roosters, as an actor/theater producer, as a salesman, he started a professional baseball franchise as well as a newspaper in Aberdeen, and he was involved heavily in the suffrage movement just for starters. He was an infinitely interesting character.
The Last Narc (Amazon Prime)
4 part series about the murder (and possible truth) behind a DEA agent's murder in the mid-80s.
The fictional TV show Narcos (Netflix) covers this, obviously, however this show puts all its focus on the murder and events leading up to it, including involving former DFS (Mex Secret Police) and other DEA agents, and Mex State Police who know some details.
I'm through 3 of the 4 parts (about 50min per part). Fascinating to someone who is new to the case. Intriguing to those who know more than the average person.

Just heard Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will be starring in the Yellowstone prequel. Not sure I’ll like it. Huge fan of the current cast.
Prequel? What did I miss.
There are two spin offs of Yellowstone in the works. Y:1883 is the series that will tell the origin story of the Dutton's on how they came to Montana. Sam Elliott is the big name that has been talked to be confirmed for this series. Though what I have read is that he isn't a Dutton but a character that is big in the Dutton's travels to Montana...or something like that. Tim and Faith are probably going to be Dutton's, but that is purely my speculation.
The other series is 6666. This series will focus on a ranch in Texas with some characters from Yellowstone. The only characters that I have seen to be speculated to be on that series is Walker and Jimmy.
Supposedly Y:1883 is to hit the air this year sometime but I don't think filming has begun on that so who knows. 6666 has no premiere date yet.
All I know is that I'm pissed that the Olympics, supposedly, pushed back season 4 of Yellowstone. I'm tired of waiting!!

Steve Zahn is awesome sauce on White Lotus.
Steve Zahn is f*** on White Lotus.
One of us, IIRC. He was excellent in the movie "Rescue Dawn." Had a haunting "1000 yard stare."

Born in Marshall, spent some time in Mankato as a kid, graduated Cooper '86.
We have Direct TV at the house. And sometimes when I turn on the tv the picture is ahead of the words by a couple seconds. So I turn off the tv and tv it back on and 90% of the time it's back in sync. If not a second time of turning off and on works.
Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening at all?!?!?!

I have the same problem with my FireTV. Resetting it always works but in my basement, I have a sound at that I can adjust the timing of it if it goes out of sync.
Sometimes I feel like it is just part of the HDMI cable. Never had that issue with S-video and AV cables!

The whole cast is pretty darn good. AD has the bluest eyes among other attributes… :biggrin2:
Has anyone else watched 100 Foot Wave on HBO? It's six episodes and tracks surfer Garret McNamara and others as they first begin to surf Nazara, Portugal and then their quest to ride a 100 foot wave, which apparently has long been the Holy Grail of big wave surfers.
The surf video and interactions between the surfer, PW, and spotter are fantastic and the toll it takes on their bodies is incredible. The backstory stuff gets a little fluffy and long IMHO but it's still worth a watch. One guy caught an 80 foot wave in one of the early seasons (8 story building ) and watching surfers try to ride the power of the waves and ocean is amazing. Looks like someone caught a 102 foot wave there in 2020 after the filming ended but I think there is some video on YouTube of the ride.

I really enjoyed it. I would absolutely love to visit that lighthouse some day....seeing that break in person would have to be mind blowing.
Just finished The Chair on Netflix with Sandra Oh and quite enjoyed it. And at 6 episodes it was nice and tidy and not bloated. Conversely I just started the 9 episode S1 of Hit and Run (Israel but some of the dialogue is in English) and E1 was great. Hope at 9 it doesn't feel bloated by the end.
Band of Brothers premiered 20 years ago today. Arguably the best military mini series of all time. ☝️ https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1wlYPlwjGOY
Anyone interested in the new 'The Wonder Years'? The original 'The Wonder Years' is probably my all-time fav. tv. series. So I'm interested to see how it goes.

The Pacific was good too, Band of Brothers is the GOAT!

Feel that way about Better Call Saul. Bob had to go and have a heart attack. Dang him! So many shows delayed due to the Rona. And then other circumstances

Click Bait on Netflix. 8 part limited series and done very well. I can’t say much without spoiling something but I watched all 8 parts between noon yesterday and 5am this morning…whoops.
EDIT: I think what pulled me in with this one is you could 100% see it happening in this day and age.

Generation Kill is incredibly good, though not up to Band of Brothers standard. It's much, much better than Pacific.

Started re-watching the series (Mexico) from S1, I mean it's been a couple years, want to refresh. Forgot they intro'd a certain character early on. And I geeked out just as much as when I first saw it, knowing what happens in real life.

Watching the latest episode of Ted Lasso and they briefly played Nightclub Jitters by The Replacements!
[edit] Greatest episode yet!
S2 E1 of The Morning Show sure didn't hold back.

I just started watching season 1. I’m on episode 5. Loving it so far.
The final season of Goliath starts in 2 days. I hope S4 is every bit as solid as the previous 3.
The Muhammad Ali series on PBS so far has been tremendous.
This is absolutely fantastic.
If I recall correctly there was a lot of searching for hidden meanings and theories for what could have happened to Tony and family based on the final song played. Turns out there was a fantastic reason 'The Soprano's' ended with Don't Stop Believing to annoy the production crew!

I just finished season 1 of Ted Lasso. As I said on Facebook I was late in watching it as I am not much of a soccer fan and thought it was going to be too soccer oriented.
I was wrong. I just loved it. I had a smile on my face after every episode.
My only (very) minor gripe is that sometimes the British accents were hard to understand so I would have to rewind to re-listen to some of the lines.

I definitely have a hard time with hard core British accents. Cockney, I suppose? There's a British guy who is part of our Sunday LTD Brewing gathering, and I understand him perfectly. It's a softer accent, but very obviously British. Something like "Lock, Stock, And Two Smoking Barrels" movie, I am completely lost. Need the closed captioning.

The Ali series on PBS has been huge treat. Very much enjoyed it so far through 4 episodes.
The Lost Symbol - series based upon the Dan Brown (The Da Vince Code) book of the same name. 2 episodes in now. It's nothing earth shattering, but if you like the genre I would recommend giving it a shot.

I really enjoyed the book. The TV series definitely intrigues me.
