Just watched S3E1 of The Bear, and I think I can say without exaggeration that it was one of the best episodes of anything I've ever seen.

the show is amazing.

An old favorite of mine, Northern Exposure, is now on Prime Video.

S3 of The Bear is easily my least favorite so far.  The first episode was some sort of art film instead of what it has been.  I get that this is the next iteration of the restaurant and further development of the characters but it has a whole different feel to this season and I'm just not getting into it.

Huh.

Anyway has anyone seen started watching either Elkhorn (about Teddy Roosevelt’s self-imposed exile to the Badlands) or U-Boat Wargamers, also a true story about members of the Women's Royal Naval Service who helped combat then German U-Boat dominance and win the Battle of the Atlantic?

Receiver (Netflix):
They did Quarterback last year, and now it's this.

Into 3 of 8 eps, definitely good, glad they got a TE involved, also. I really love that they still leave the on-field dialogue intact. "Dude, you hit my dick!" lol that is such a classic sequence (yes, there is more dialogue than that).

I hope they keep this "series" up with maybe linebackers, some linemen, etc. Let's run the gamut.

Started "Cobra Kai" (Netflix) S6 (part 1 of final "season") tonight. It's dialed back a bit from the redonkulousness of S5, and I hope they keep it that way. They promise this is the end, and again, I hope they keep their promise. End it when it's still entertaining. The evolution of the main characters (especially Johnny) is a strength in this show.

We've been watching Tacoma FD on Netflix.  Stupid funny so right up my alley 🤣...and a good show if you're looking to fill some time in front of the TV.

Made by (assuming) the same folks that created Super Troopers and Beerfest, but it's a lot less raunchy.

Finished it tonight. Yeah, it's dialed back for the most part. A blip here and there, sure. It got back to why it was good in the first place.

I'll be one to say, the series got "out of balance" and hence this...I won't buy it. That is them trying to cover for themselves. An accidental plan or what have you...

Dirty Pop:
Lou Pearlman - the music mogul who created and exploited some of the biggest boy bands of the '90s including Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, and O-Town - rises and falls.

3 45~ minute parts, saw the first two tonight. It's a glossover, but at least covers the ABCs of what went on, so far. Basically a true story views-grab. Meh.

Sunny with Rashida Jones. Per the web:

Living in Kyoto, Japan, a woman's life is turned upside down after her husband and son disappear in a mysterious plane crash. As consolation, she receives Sunny, a domestic robots made by her husband's electronics company.
I've watched 2 eps so far. I don't want to compare it to Severance because it would be unfair, but there are some similarities and I wonder if any of the creators have ties.  Very enjoyable so far.

I finally finished S3 of The Bear and I really didn't enjoy it at all.  Richie was easily my favorite part of the season and Carmy/Sydney were easily my least favorite.  I hope that S4 can get back some of what S1 and S2 had.

Finished Season 6 Part I of Cobra Kai and I have 2 complaints:

1. At times it felt like a prime time major network sitcom and not in a good way.

2. The never-ending, "We're enemies now we're friends now we're enemies" back and forth between multiple characters as well as the, "I'm with Miyagi-Do now I'm with Cobra Kai now I'm back to Miyagi-Do" by more than a few characters feels tired out.

That said it's still a quality show (perhaps more so if you're my age. Neither of my kids have watched a single episode) and I'm hoping the stick the landing with S6 Part II.

Per my review earlier, at least it's not the over the top GLOBAL DOMINATION and SUPER-SETUPS that S5 had. 😉 But, I agree, they really need to tie this up in a neat bow.

I watched the 4-part Beckham doc on Netflix.  A few thoughts:

1. Victoria is indeed posh. In one interview she said that both she and David grew up in working class homes. He interrupted her to remind her that she was driving to school every day in a Rolls. That said by all accounts she sounds like a good person, mother, wife
2. I didn't realize that when he got the absolutely b.s. kicking RC in the WC how much he was savaged in Britain. Absolutely brutal.
3. You often see athletes of his stature (not to mention ridiculously good looks) be a very polarizing players, but his teammates absolutely loved him and would go to war for him
4. Noting the previous two he took a lot of shit in stride, never whined or complained, and always put in the work
5. European football managers make John Tortorella seem like a nice guy
6. I didn't realize what a complete shit-show MLS was when Beckham went there. I don't know how much it's improved, but it is sad that most (all?) of the best homegrown talent continues to play in Europe and that guys like Beckham, Messi and Zlatan refuse to play there until the money and their declining abilities make it their best choice

Episode 1 of Bad Monkey with Vince Vaughn was good enough for me to give 2 a chance.  The narrator is a poor-man's Waylon Jennings but he'll suffice.

Carl Hiaasen is one of my all time favorite authors and I'm looking forward to this show!

Loved the book.

Finished S3 of That 90s Show, the second part of S3 dropped tonight.

Really coming into its own. Some After School Special moments, and some total lol moments (let's just say the scene with Red, Kitty, and the snowshoe Smile ). Keeps the spirit of the OG show intact, while also moving on.

For those of you who watch This Old House, Roger Cook has passed away. He was the landscaping guru on the show.

S2 of Sherwood (family crime drama) from the BBC has sure started out with a bang. Very well done.

I really enjoyed the first 2 eps of English Teacher on FX.  A sitcom that actually made me laugh.

Watched a few episodes of a show called My Strange Arrest on A&E.  To no surprise the state with the most # of stories was FL, WI was well represented, but the very last story of the season came from none other than Edina.

Are you looking for a particular team? IIRC, you are a Tonka guy. I looked and they have a video stream if you go to https://www.minnetonkafootball.org

(I think that one is free)

If you are looking for another team, you may want to check that schools website.

Thank you. Yes Tonka plays Wayzata so it will hopefully be a good one to watch. Again many thanks. I've watched some hs puck since coming here but never fb.

Season 2 of The Old Man with Jeff Bridges, John Lithgow and Leem Lubany (who was wonderful playing a very menacing role in The Condor) has been released.

Mr McMahon:
WWE experienced record-breaking highs and crushing lows under Vince McMahon's leadership and the mogul's controversial reign

6 part series, about hr long eps. I'll just say that Vince McMahon didn't do himself any favors in this one. Some of his answers made me think, "do you even hear yourself talk?" What he accomplished in business is astounding, credit due. But at what cost, and aside from that, he is not a good person.

Good series, even if you were never a wrestling fan. I would put this as a must-watch, because even if you were not a wrestling fan, I guarantee you know about wrestling and its impact on our culture.

I finished this yesterday and I did enjoy it.  You are correct that it was astounding that Vince didn't even try to choose his words better.  I was equally surprised on how many of the wrestlers still have love for Vince.  I did enjoy this and look forward to future episodes if they film since the series was left open.

Game 7 (Prime)
Season one, covers Game 7s from NHL, MLB, NBA.

Watched the first 3 eps tonight, man, the footage they have (especially ep2 with the Oilers/Flyers Cup series back in 1986-1987). If you are any kind of sports fan, this is a must watch (even if you don't care for the particular sport). Gives backstories, buildup, etc.

Finished Part 2 of the final season of Cobra Kai (Pt3 comes out in Feb, and right now, that's the last of it). Why do they insist on going completely off the rails at times? The chaos in the last ep of P2 was very much not necessary. That being said, I still think it's a good series overall.
