Sad and also amazing how long he continued working.
Ducky was a fantastic character and McCallum was equally good in The Great Escape.

I'm re-watching The Pacific for the first time since it came out and dangit if I can't not picture Stiffler every time Chuckler is on screen. How the two actors aren't brothers...
I haven't started it yet but Shoresy S2 is out!!

How is that series? I LOVE Letterkenny, but I always compared Shoresy to Rafi from "The League." In small doses, awesome. In large doses, rather annoying.

I haven't watched it yet, but I just saw that Lupin S3 has been released.

🙁 One of the best crappy sitcoms ever. Saw every episode of Three's Company, and both spinoffs (Ropers/Three's A Crowd).

Very sad to hear this. After Suzanne Somers was cut from the original series it was never the same. That show was a classic, very funny show.

Cindy (sp?) was not a good fit. Teri was pretty good, but I agree, wasn't the same. The spinoffs were pretty much disasters, too.

But it did turn

Mr Firley was awesome. Sorry, not sorry.
Now, "She's The Sheriff"....there was no excuse for that.

I'm not gonna lie - Ep 2 of Frasier Part Deux was hilarious.

good to hear. We're really looking forward to starting this.
Im sure everyone shit on the idea of Seattle with none of the cheers cast too. It was an absolute gamble that turned into a brilliant show.
I don't think Frasier III will be as good. But it will be entertaining as a different story about a familiar character. I hope.
I didn't shit on the idea. Frasier was a complex character, and the Cheers series finale was one of the better ones I've seen. Frasier was the only one who really had the potential to do his own thing on a spinoff.

I'll put this here, since it is a series:
Get Gotti (Netflix)
About the investigations about John Gotti, mob boss, starting with the Paul Castellano (ex-boss, whom Gotti took out) murder.
Pretty accurate, I have 3-4 books that are focused on Gotti himself, the Five Families Of NY, or have mentioned Gotti in more than a worker in the mafia. 3 eps, in the 45-60 minute range. LOTS of video/audio from the case(s). If you know a lot about it, it's decent. If you know nothing about it, VERY educational.

Ok, wtf?
Then we have Salma Hayek at 57:

Matthew Perry, RIP (apparent drowning). No drugs found at scene.

The chef showdown sketch on SNL was hilarious, and a Padma Lakshmi cameo sure didn't hurt. Hubba hubba.
Oh and Nate Bergatze is a national treasure.
[edit] The George Washington sketch is killing. I wonder if Nate had a hand in writing it.
Shogun on FX coming up in Feb. I've read the book, saw the OG mini-series. I'm going in skeptical, but it they do well...hot damn.

Eps 1-2 of Fargo S5 were great and possibly the best start since S1.
Boat Story (BBC) Cocaine is found on a boat by two hard-up strangers, Janet and Samuel, who agree to sell it and split the proceeds. They quickly find themselves entangled with the police, masked hitmen and a gangster known as 'The Tailor' .
Imagine a if Guy Ritchie produced a series with just a bit of restraint and intelligible dialogue.
Ep 1 was great.
Slow Horses S3 is out. I could have sworn S2 just happened, but after looking it up it came out a year ago.
That was outstanding! 🤣 Poor Colin Jost! The jokes Michael Che and Colin Jost wrote for each other on Weekend Update last night were fantastic. The best bit they do all year.
"Y'all need Jesus" and "My wife's little art movies" were two of the best lines!

I think most fans that have watched every season of Fargo would put S1 or S2 as their favorite so far and I was one of them. But unless S5 completely screws up the finale it's going to be my favorite when it's all said and done. Love the characters, the actors, the story and in many cases the cinematography rivals some first class movies. I don't want to overdo the praise but it really is that good.
totally agree....this year's cast is perfect & the storyline is just bonkers......cannot wait for finaleI think most fans that have watched every season of Fargo would put S1 or S2 as their favorite so far and I was one of them. Monsieur Spade. Clive Owen plays the titular character who has settled into his later years in France 20 years after the Maltese Falcon took place. I have virtually no experience with the character in written form so my frame of reference in that regard is nil. I was not blown away by Ep 1, but I give it a solid B which is more than enough to give Ep 2 a try.
Criminal Record. Apple TV series that takes place in London. A newish female detective clashes with a grizzled veteran over a previously closed murder case. The plot is solid and the lead actors are great, but if the character development cliches remain as annoying to me as they were in Ep 1 it might remain short lived.
The Tourist. Set in Australia about a man that wakes in the hospital having no memory of how he got there. The viewers see that he was in a car accident but there's plenty of mystery throughout. The unknowns about one of the protagonists became obvious to me almost immediately, but I finished S1 which was accomplished in a nicely a paced 6 episodes. Unfortunately imho they failed the landing and I won't be watching S2.
I haven't seen the finale yet, but I don't see how they'll ever top season 2. The script is really good. It's one of those things that doesn't get noticed until it stinks.
Whoever wrote John Hamm's lines deserves high praise. So good.
Finished up the latest season of Reacher on Prime. Such a good show. The only thing that I have to complain about is how rushed the last episode felt to wrap up the season but it was still a great show. Also....Serinda Swan is a smoke show!

Season 4 of True Detective is off to a nice start. It has me intrigued for next Sunday night.
2 episodes in and 4 left for those that want to catch up and watch live.
I'm curious what others thought of the Fargo finale? I loved it except for the way they killed off the black deputy. Supposedly he went in the dugout alone to get Roy as a way of paying back Dot for saving his life. Then he stood there like a lamb and let Roy stab him. Made no sense.

I actually thought that the finale was lackluster. Still an awesome season of TV, but I prefer season 1 and 2. There weren’t that many fireworks in the finale.
They could have maybe used some restraint with how quickly they resolved the main story arc, but overall I enjoyed the finale including the completely menacing visit to Dot's family by Munch at the end, where even to the last second you never knew if he was going to snap or not.

Some shows are better than others at wrapping up a series. It's better to do it in two episodes or more. Breaking Bad did this rather well. Hank, for example, was killed in advance of the finale and other segments of the plot (chicken man et al.) were resolved as well before the big final scene. Of course, they killed off the main character as well, while freeing Jesse, the redeemable one. Both were logical endings for these characters.
In this season of Fargo, compressed into a single series unlike the multi-season opus, Breaking Bad, there were nevertheless some remarkable achievements:
Jennifer Jason Leigh's character arc was near perfect, going from despising and victim-blaming her daughter-in-law to acting on her behalf as an angel of vengeance.
Gator Tillman, the unfortunate scion of his father and sheriff, had to suffer in the end to expose his inner vulnerability. His character also certified, as if further proof was required, that his father was nothing more than a loathsome, self-righteous, and soulless shell of a human figure. The scene where Roy flatly rejects and abandons his son in his moment of need is indeed gut-wrenching.
I was dismayed at the loss of the Trooper, but perhaps it was a lesson that the pious and truly righteous cannot fully grasp the depth of human depravity. On the other hand, Dottie, her mother-in-law, and Sheriff Roy Tillman understood this very well each in their own way.
The Munch scene reminded me of No Country for Old Men and the unfortunate ending for Llewelyn's undeserving and innocent wife. Maybe the difference here is that the Cohen brothers gave Dot the psychological savviness to dismantle Munch's nefarious intentions in a classic display of good versus evil. It dragged on a bit in that last scene, but it served its purpose of forcing viewers to watch through squinted eyes and hands partially occluding their visions.

I thought it was good overall. The only thing I didn't like was the last 5-10 minutes of gibberish at Dot's house. I know it was to somehow put a bow on that guys character, but I felt it was too long.
This year was way better than the Chris Rock year, in which we had to turn if off.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Season 4 is almost everyone's least favorite. It was more like the Godfather than Fargo. And another thing, Fargo does not belong in Kansas City!I'm curious what others thought of the Fargo finale? @the-rube - Have you checked out Griselda yet? I figured this is in your wheelhouse. I knew nothing of Griselda Blanco until I saw the show listed in my Netflx feed. I looked her up and not sure how Sofia Vegara will do in pulling off the character.
I have not seen it. While based on a different person, Griselda reminds me too much of Marllory Chacon (Queen Of The South).* Since Griselda is just a limited series, I probably will give in and watch it at some point.
*QOS is a novel that is technically fiction, BUT enough names and places changed/etc that it's really not. It's also a Telemundo series (the first season is VERY close to the book), and an American series very very loosely based on the book.

Shes gotten RAVE reviews on this, I think people will be shocked. She’s only really known for comedy, she looks scary as crap in the trailer!
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

Thanks for that. I will definitely be giving it a try now.
Death and Other Details with Mandy Patinkin. I really wanted to like this series because of course Mandy. And despite the set and costume designs being gorgeous – including making it look like 1930’s Hollywood set in modern times - the characters are not very appealing, episode 2 was convoluted, and it feels like a poor man’s Agatha Christie without any charm or thoughtfulness. Sadly I won’t continue onto episode 3.
Looking forward to Masters of the Air.

I didn't watch the trailer, wanted to go in somewhat blind, but did look her up on wiki or something, Pablo Escobar was quoted as saying she was the only person he was afraid of. To quote Leo from "Django Unchained"..."You had my curiosity, now you have my interest."
2 eps in, I'm liking it so far. They definitely did their research on the nuances of the business...

Finished Griselda. It could have been 10ish eps, to be honest. The last 2 eps felt hurried and incomplete.
Side note: doesn't seem to be any good books on her life, unless you want to shell out $100+ 🙁 I'm sorry, but a 74 page or whatever book just doesn't seem enough for me.
