Patio beers in the backyard in February
I really want to give this a thumbs down... Hoping for a very wet March and April.

We are in need of moisture for sure, preferably rain in late March/April. I just could not pass up having a beer outside in February. Today is in the 20's with gale force winds...

The gf of our youngest visited him at UM for several weeks and shared a montage of it.
Included is them meeting up with friends from h.s. now living everywhere including CA.
Who signed me up for the spam call from the University of Michigan… lol!!!

I'm pretty sure I have not. Others have bought them as a group rate.

Just because it shows as being from the whore, it doesn't mean it's from the school. Not all numbers in the city belong to the school, and, realistically, most likely to be a spoofed number anyway.

Going to the registrar at city hall to get my tab renewed on the motorcycle, and the clerk asking "Would you like to renew the registration on your Harley for one, two or three years?"
Result: 2027 tab on the plate.

Some friends of mine, who just happened to sit in the row behind me at the state hockey tournament. Parked in StP and went to the Class A Champions game, then took the light rail to the Gopher game and will take light rail back for the Class AA Championship.

Both the Badddgers and the Whioux got swept at home this past weekend
Aloha!
Both the Badddgers and the Whioux got swept at home this past weekend
Technically, the Badgers didn't get swept, they lost a best of three series 1-2.

Technically, the Badgers didn't get swept, they lost a best of three series 1-2.
And the Whioux lost at Omaha. But, don't let the facts get in the way for a good story. 😉
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
So neither of these two things happened? lol
Well the good parts happened, red and green teams each with significant fails (especially the red team) this past weekend! The path each team took varied a bit from the original post....but it's not how they lose that's important as long as they do lose. 🤣

Hubby and I did his PubPass tonight. We went to this dive bar out in Suburbialand. I ordered a Sidecar and the woman asked “what size.” I’m confused…your cocktails come in sizes? So I throw caution to the wind and order a large. BIG mistake! Huge! Picture a margarita sized glass, no ice, full of liquor. A Sidecar is pretty much pure alcohol. This was like a quadruple! Between that and the blue cheese hamburger I’m in a coma. I’ll be asleep by 9.
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

Hubby can hold his beer better then me, he was my personal Uber. He had 2 beers and I had my mammoth cocktail! I’m surprised I didn’t fall asleep on the 30 minute ride home. Car seats are so comfy now 😂Hubby and I did his PubPass tonight. We went to this dive bar out in Suburbialand. Finding out I'm getting a 9% raise starting April 1st (not an April Fools joke) and they'll still honor my yearly 3%+ on July 1st.
Count yourself lucky. My company is handing out 2.5% raises this year. Inflation was 3.5% last year. If you take my salary and adjust for inflation I should be making thousands more than I do now. Currently considering leaving this job, but I've been here 27 years so it's tough to leave the potential severance on the table for an industry that lays people off regularly.
I have a tentative job offer though (without discussing salary) so I'll have to weigh the pros and cons
I'm pretty good at analyzing a job and knowing their value. I've said to my employer and management that I'm under paid since taking on the roles for the last 2 years. They finally agreed, though to get my raise they had to negotiate others who have different roles and positions to go along with mine.

I get my 3%-3.5% inflation raise each year, and then for bonuses, in past years it has been notoriously tough to reach "exceeds expectations." For the last year or two, my bosses have said they will definitely (in essence) override corporate's guidelines, and give me the "exceeds" level.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

The least favorite part of my job are these 'guidelines'.

They often contradict themselves. "Stay home if you feel sick; and personal health > showing up."
But if you miss a day or two of work, you no longer "exceed." lol wut?

Fortunately I don't have to use ticky-tacky negative KPIs like those, I hate micro-managing and I am not good at it. I tell my team they get paid very well to do their job and make decisions and they know the parameters so make the role yours. Amazing how well people respond to a culture that empowers.

He misses an important component in my humble opinion: There cannot be punitive response to a decision that doesn't turn out well and if a bad decision is made it cannot be called out publicly.

The last time I exceeded 4% was from a promotion. Standard has been 3-3.5%. Fortunately my bonus potential has been fantastic and I can't complain about our revenue and margin target setting. I also get up to 160 unused PTO hours paid back every February. Since my PTO is roughly 300 hours that's not hard to max out. I've been looking for anything within 75% of it back home for 2 years and haven't found it yet.
@slap-shot 300 hours PTO!? Where do you work?
He's been w/same company for a bit. 😉 Ditto for me, I get about 240 hrs PTO at this point in my career.

In the Philippines for a U.S. based company. Although technically I am employed by our SEA location and employee benefits here are better than what my U.S. counterparts receive. If I were in the U.S. I think we were capped at 180 and there was no payback on unused hours.
Wife and I are taking the kids down to the Omaha zoo this coming Thursday through Sunday. Should be pretty interesting around the town of Omaha. Omaha plays the Gophers on Thursday and Creighton Basketball plays Tennessee on Friday. Omaha is 100 times more a Creighton basketball town than an Omaha hockey town. I’ve been in Omaha while Creighton is on TV… it’s nuts. Omaha hockey is very similar to Ohio State hockey that very few people know the teams exist because they’re over shadowed by the basketball (Creighton) and football (Ohio State) programs. I’ve even been in Columbus for Gopher Hockey and so many locals don’t/didn’t know OSU has a hockey team.

Methinks you should just reroute and add to the Gopher fandom in Sioux Falls! Although if it’s animals you want to see, I hear they got shipped to Missouri.
My kids would vote “no” and it would be vetoed by my wife. We use the electro college when we vote in our house. We use our ages as our votes. Me (48), wife (xx), kid #1 (14), kid #2 (10) and kid #3 (6). It makes it fun to see the kids team up with one of us parents if we are split… lol!!!

NASA TV did a great job covering it.
Never ceases to amaze me how fast the eclipse moves. Total in Mazatlán to total in Dallas was what, about 8-10 minutes apart at most?
