These balloons rock. Fill 100 in less than 60 seconds and you don’t have to tie them.  They come pretied!!! I filled over 300 on Father’s Day and everyone from kids to adults had a blast.  So, I bought 300 more since we might need to be finding more ways to stay cool for the next week… lol!!!

It means you go through a LOT more water balloons and the clean up process is a pain in the arse.

For whatever reason, I thought of an old video game (Shining Force II, Sega Genesis, a sort of turn-based strategy game) the other night. Figured there was an emulator out there. There are many. Found one that really worked well. The one I use only downloads your "save game" moment otherwise you play on your browser, and well, 7 hours of gaming into it...I remember why I missed it. So fun. The old days, when you only needed 3 buttons.

Ok, ok, the real old days you only needed a joystick and MAYBE a button. The true classics. 😉

My wife brought this home and I said “great…” cause the person who mows the lawn is def who will have to clean it up.

Played softball against Justin Kloos the other night in league. Super nice kid. I tried not to nerd out on him. I partially succeeded.

You got that right. Last night may have been the best weather day of the year. Mid 80's, low humidity, light breeze and no bugs. We sat on the patio for 9 hours yesterday afternoon-evening with the fire pit going, listening to music and watching the deer come out about dusk.  Need to enjoy those days when we have them. :dup:

Today turned into a pretty good day.  I was kinda hoping it would rain more so I could get some things done in the house but it was too nice not to go out.

There’s something about the fireworks going off that makes the frogs go nuts though.  They did this last year too on the fourth, the frogs are extra loud and noisy after dark.

My second summer vacation starting today...

Spent some time with the parents, they wanted to see the new Matrix (and of course I had bought the DVD). Bonus: brought over a bottle of Schramm's Cherry Mead (not Waconia, Ferndale MI, the good stuff) something that my mom would cut a b* for. 😉

Simple things in life, I tell ya. They loved the movie and the mead.

Small town street dances. The local bar in my small town had a street dance tonight to celebrate their 1 year anniversary. Perfect weather and great to see people we have not seen in years.

I find myself more and more wanting to handout with my folks. Having them over for dinner or whatever. They are always more then willing to help with a project or watch the kids. They spend 6 months at the cabin in Montana and 6 months here in the Cities. I blessed… they live in Apple Valley, my sister and her family live in Apple Valley and I’m in Rosemount. Taking the wife, kids and my in-laws at the end of  the week to see them, while showing my in-laws Glacier Nat’l Park and all the other sites in the area.

Ran into my boss from the liquor store tonight (well, both a buddy's and my boss, buddy was there, too) at Northern Taphouse. Sent him a Shirley Temple. Apparently, this is how it went:

Waitress: Shirley Temple for you...
Boss: Um, I think that is a mistake. You might have the wrong table.
Waitress: I don't think so, a couple guys 3 booths down bought one for you.
Boss's head pops up over the booth, we wave. Boss just shakes his head and laughs.

Boss said at first the waitress got really red and thought she maybe DID screw up, but right after that she came to our table, to see us in hysterics, and got the joke and started laughing her arse off, also.

Absolutely amazing insights, the further they look the more galaxies they find.

Driving across 94 in North Dakota and Hwy 2 in Montana.  Seeing a lot of luscious and green hay fields, prairie grass and crops. It is some of the most luscious and greenest I have seen in years. Could be some bumper crops for several farmers in the area.  Also saw lots of water in the ponds in North Dakota along 94.

So I guess North Dakota’s good for something!!!

Just got back from spending over 7 days at the cabin near Glacier Nat’l Park with little to no internet. What’s fun is after 40 plus years every time I go into GNP or the surrounding area I always find something new or see something differently. I’m beyond fortunate to have the family cabin where I do. I enjoy helping tourists out in pointing out mountain ranges by name or points of interests, stories or ‘urban legends’ of the area.

And I’m always willing to help anyone GPL’er out who wants to go to GNP and give them things to do in GNP and out like whitewater rafting (didn’t go this year, my wife has a broken foot), Hungry Horse Dam and Reservoir, Whitefish Mnt. (aka Big Mnt. to the locals), breweries, distilleries, restaurants, beaches and the list can go on. Feel free to msg. and I’ll go my best to help you out with info!!!

Clean windows.

Let me be more specific.. Just finishing cleaning windows in a house that you just agreed to purchase. Looks like YE now has two properties to take care of!

I used to wash windows with a friend of mine as supplemental income during college and we perfected our formula in a long time ago.  It was fun to break out the old equipment and do it again.

If anyone is interested it is distilled water ammonia and dish soap.  It works beautifully.

The dish soap doesn't leave a residue?

It does not.  We got the recipe from a chemist after he saw us using windex.   I used to do it all over town and it works great. I also found that when we would do it again the following year it was a million times easier than year 1.

That wonderful feeling of getting 20+ staples and a drain removed after emergency gallbladder removal surgery last Monday (7/25) is hard to top!

I'd also add our health care workers are nothing short of amazing.  Everyone I encountered or helped me at Health Partners & Regions Hospital was tremendous.

Johnny Holm Band at the Dakota County Fair last night with the wife. It was my wife's first time seeing the band and I've seen them several times, just haven't seen them in a couple years. Johnny has to be pushing early 70's and can still put on a pretty good show!!!

Though alcohol compliance could've had a field day last night.  Lots of overserved people... especially the young males in their 20s and women in their 40-50s.

I had mine out a couple years ago so at Maple Grove, and my experience was similar.  Everyone involved was amazing, made sure to ask if I had any questions or concerns so many times I lost count.

I was at Canterbury playing blackjack a couple of weeks ago and there was a huge country music concert.  After the show the crowd funneled into the casino and I couldn’t believe how S faced everybody was.  Obliterated.  It got real full and very covvidy so I left.  (I was sick most of May and wasn’t going to risk it again.). All I could think on the way home was we need more cops for this.

I remember seeing him when his daughter was knee high to a duck. Always a great show.

Fun Fact: Jane Fonda (retired from this board) actually has sung twice on stage with the band, by Johnny's request. 😀

With the recent rains the grass grew so fast I had no choice but to bag.  It is a happy lawn.

Even my neighbor finally relented and mowed his weeds.

I mowed my 70/30 grass/weeds lawn today as well. Couldn't bag though, my back still won't let me do that quite yet. Probably have to do a good de-thatching this autumn.

I was noticing that last night while doing some outside work around the house. The grass probably grew more in the last week than all together in the last 4 weeks.

- Tonight was the first time I vended at USB since the Packers/Vikings MNF game on 12/23/19. 371 days!!! I wanted to hang up vending Vikings and Twins games. Had all good intentions to. Though I like to pay for all our house projects in cash. Have several projects this coming winter and spring. So I’m back to vending for the time being

- Should have a fun winter/spring. Splitting the basement living room into a smaller living room and office for my wife. Replace some of the blacktop in the driveway and put in an cement apron. Possibly widen the driveway from 3 cars wide to 4. As well as building a shed. I’ve already printed out all the rules and regulations for my projects… lol!!! At least the city of Lakeville isn’t as crazy and strict as the city of Apple Valley.

- Driving home from the Vikings coming up the long hill into Burnsville on 35. I was doing 80+ and some guy with a gal on a motorcycle passed me like I was standing still. And it only took moments before I couldn’t see his tail lights and I see 20/15. Wasn’t a sport bike, it was an actual motorcycle.

Ain’t that the truth.  AV sucks for rules regarding what you can do on your own property.  Don’t move here if you want to build, cut trees, or remodel anything.  We had 5K into hoops we had to jump through before we even had the permit to start building our garage.  For instance they asked for an official survey.  They had access to it….but we obtained the original survey (1972) from the damn city of AV itself and submitted it back to them.  They said “it’s too old” so we had to foot the bill for a new one.

We also had to cut out part of our 20x12 preexisting garden shed to make it 12x12 (you can’t have two buildings over that size) - or we could have paid a lawyer 2K to draft a letter that basically said we promise to remove the shed once the garage is built.  (We are building a detached two car garage).

We had to put up a silt fence around the footings and those giant black worm silt sock things along the edge of our driveway  to keep anything from running into the neighbors yard or down to the street.  There’s no physical way anything could get there anyway short of a biblical flood.

You need a permit to cut down a tree or they’ll charge you $200 (I think) an inch diameter.
But the city had no problem cutting down dozens of hundred year old oak trees to make way for a senior living center.   If you drive through the intersection of pilot knob and McAndrews you’ll see the eyesore that used to be a beautiful old farm lot full of giant mature trees.   They’ve also demolished acres of trees along a small dumpy little lake just south of there to cram in some more houses.

They were VERY concerned about the environmental impact of our garage project (not a single tree had to be touched) but they’ll bulldoze acres of beautiful land to make a buck.

Rant off.

One simple pleasure is being back home and the other one is was last night watching the airing of a Prince concert from 1985 on PBS at the request of my 82 year-old father along with my brother and two sons.  3 generations enjoying the GOAT in his prime.

Not so simple:

1. Just like last year when I visited I woke up around 3 a.m. and haven't been back to sleep

2. Staff in Ohare neglecting (from my best guess) to load one of the 4 checked backs onto the flight to MSP

I submitted a claim yesterday around 2 p.m. at MSP and later checked the status online only to find out the staff member that took down my bag information got the description completely wrong.  The only thing he managed to get right is the color red. Otherwise the bag is hard-sided not soft, does not have zippers but 3 clasps and the brand is not YY but Samsonite.  How the eff are their staff supposed to locate the correct item if they don't even know what they're looking for?

On top of that they keep asking me stupid questions relative to what might have happened even after I have calmly and clearly described the timeline of events.

My son and I checked 4 items in Manila.  We flew MNL > Seoul > Chicago > MSP.  All 4 items showed up in ORD and we had to then personally re-check them after leaving customs for the flight to MSP.  Only 3 showed up.

They've asked questions that allude to wondering if all 4 bags didn't make it to ORD and I have explained at least twice now that I know for a fact all 4 made it there because they were not automatically transferable and we had to physically re-check them ourselves after leaving customs. After one of the calls the call handler finally said, "We will notify staff in Chicago to look for the item".  Wait, what?  Why was that not the first freaking thing you did since I made it abundantly clear the bag is 99% sure to be IN CHICAGO?!?

They asked a few other stupid questions that make me question if they're paying attention, even wondering if the bag tag fell off which if you've ever flown know how wickedly difficult it is to remove one.

I have called back 3 times because I check the online status ever few others and the online description has yet to be corrected.  I have remained polite, patient and cordial in all cases to this point but I am about to lose my shit.  I've never had lost luggage before and I am going to be here a month so I don't just have a weekend's worth of stuff.

I had with me every day clothes, travel clothes, work clothes, every day toiletries, an electric shaver, vitamins, etc.  They did mention if necessary I can go buy replacement items and submit receipts for reimbursement (which I am sure will be a tightly handled, quick and efficient process) at a reasonable amount, but no one can answer what is deemed reasonable.  The bag alone was over $250 bought several years ago.

Seconded. Perfect patio weather.

I don't golf, but this would be great for at the cabin for buzzing around. Have a Kubota with second row seating and a cargo bed for hauling stuff around.  Though this would represent when going up into town for dinner, groceries or errands.

Going on a roller coaster at Universal in Orlando and having Motley Crue’s ‘Kickstart MY Heart’ as the soundtrack in your ear through the ride.

i got over to the new Velociraptor one yesterday and that’s the most intense coaster I’ve been on in a long time
