This simple pleasure is bittersweet but I am on my way home again to see my wife and youngest boy.

Loved my time here and it was awesome to meet some of you for the first time.

Congratulations, YoungEagle !

He can fill in the blanks but bells could be involved & he may have out-kicked his coverage. ;)

I think we were celebrating your good fortune as a way to harass your old man. Have you told her you’re 673rd in line for the throne of Luxembourg? :D

In all seriousness though congratulations

Finished corn harvest for another year. Now the boring tillage process begins. Surprisingly only missed 1 Gopher home game during the October harvest.

Soybeans ended a bit below average. Corn ended up my best crop ever with over 200 bu/acre on my home place. I was shocked by that. The other farm that is 10 miles north and is on sandy ground, ended up average. After a very questionable weather wise summer, I am grateful for what I got and know many further north were not as fortunate.

I have friends in northeaster South Dakota (Webster area), and they had a pretty mediocre year for corn. Below average yields overall and in some areas little yield at all.

Perfect weather in Duluth this past weekend.. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and made it a perfect weekend for my wife and I. We went up Friday and hung out in Superior Friday evening. Saturday we slept in, got up and went up along the North Shore to our favorite spots as well as Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock. Spent some time along Canal Park before the game. Even with everything being busy with it being MEA weekend, UMD parent’s weekend, one of the last busy weekends along the North Shore till spring and the Dogs hosting the Gophers. The weekend and weather was great!!!

Being able to experience fall again for the first time since 2013 (leaves hadn't yet changed when I moved in 2014). This is my parents' driveway. Imagine this view 360 degrees and you get a small sense of their property (1.5 acres in the middle of a suburb, the closest house 75-200 yards away in any direction). It is immensely beautiful and serene and it's no wonder they've chosen to only spend 3-4 months per year in FL, CA and AZ for this and other reasons.

We were looking at a place like that last year but they accepted an offer the night before we had a scheduled viewing. Really stunk it was in our budget.

Walked into a small town MN bar today (Willernie, visiting a friend), wearing my Bills Mafia hoodie. First thing bartender said to me, while chuckling, "Uh, we do like our tables as they are, okay?" :D Well played, Mr Barkeep, well played.

Started at Roma, and then finished at Frigaard's across the street. Roma is a good place, great food, very nice tap selection. Frigaard's, you can still smell the stale smoke in the walls, but decent patio, and CHEAP prices. Total townie bar.

We had about 30 Trick or Treaters this year, which is about twice what we had last year. Hardly anyone on my street ever has their lights on for Halloween, so I don't blame the kids for skipping us. Meanwhile, about 4 blocks away, an entire street goes all out. Just about every house has decorations, fog machines, driveway fires, etc... It's completely packed with kids over there.

Our new neighbor had his DeLorean out this evening which attracted a lot of kids.

Most of them in the 40s/50s/60s.

Does it have a "working" flux capacitor? If so, I have seen that one around. I believe there are 2 DeLoreans in the metro area, one does NOT have a working flux, though.

Cool looking cars. Quality control of assembly was horsechit and powertrain engineering was pathetically underpowered.

I asked around yesterday what to expect and was told very little. Maybe 20 to 30 kids… we even gave the adults candy. We were handing out Huckleberry taffe. Though I took some trash out around 7ish and most house had their lights out. So folks might be skipping my street as well. And as I type this, with all my lights to my house off… someone just rang my door bell.

O a small PO, on M28, between Marquette and Munising is the Au Train PO. I've seen bigger spear houses on Mille Lacs, but at least there is a portable toilet there.

It does - he moved over the river from Tonka/Hopkins way so you've probably seen it around.

Blade - Neighbor says it's all show no go but still fun to cruise around town in it.

It's been by LTD Brewing in Hopkins once in a while. And yes, EVERYONE there geeked out hardcore when we saw it.

I would never intentionally run out to watch the Vikings. Halloween is big for the kids and we have lots of kids driven to our neighborhood. The more the merrier.

Pre-Covid we would have about 200 kids. CRAZY numbers after our old neighborhood. Our own kids are finally big enough to trick or treat on their own. My wife and I were enjoying a bon fire in the driveway with a couple adult beverages while handing out candy (something I’ve always wanted to do). The Vikings were recorded. I feel terrible we ran out. No way to predict such a surge in trick or treaters. I think we could have had 300 this year.

Odd thing this year is we had several adults trick or treat. I felt weird handing candy out to guys with beards. Just go buy your own. I don’t mind spending $100+ on kids but if you have a career and want candy…..go buy your own.

There are few things better than Wilcoxson's huckleberry ice cream sandwiches. Every time I go back to MT (my fiancés family lives there) we always eat those every night.

I’ve always said if I planned to be home instead of out with my kids I’d buy beer for the adults.

I need to ask my MIL how busy she was tonight in Hastings. 350-400 kids isn’t uncommon for her. We went one year and it was just a huge party on her street and it was pretty damn cool

I think they put huckleberries on almost anything in western Montana and especially northwest Montana.

For about a week now my son has been singing “Let’s Do the Time Warp Again”. He’s 3 years old

His music teacher at school has to have the most eclectic taste in music of any early childhood teacher you can think of.

Hormel is giving away bacon scented wrapping paper! LoL I can not tell you how much I want to win one of these.

Their promo site is hilarious, warning you about pets eating wrapped Christmas gifts. Last year they gave away bacon scented masks and the site was equally funny. Make sure your mask fits completely over your nose so the bacon aroma doesn’t escape was one hint.
