Not so much a restaurant but Waldmann brewing has a very nice soft pretzel. Serve it with a horseradish mustard, stone ground mustard, raspberry mustard, and a cheese spread. I found it to be very good and sometimes I like something as simple as a pretzel.
I didn’t really understand this request for funds in the original article, $40,000 isn’t going to put much of a dent in her debt of $400,000+?
10% is at least a start in paying down the interest/etc. Likely won't be enough on it's own, but, as a lifeline until something stabilizes or whatever, it could be enough.
Needing that kind of funding, however, is usually a bad sign for long-term success.
Who knows, but he has a history of investing in places, so maybe if she delivers on his initial $40k, he may be willing to invest more. Not sure how much profit she can gain from the $40k though. We will see. Both Steve and Kelly have great points.

I imagine she had to show him their financial records of at least the past 12 months or so. If they reflect the business has positive margins and therefore it's just a matter of reducing their debt load that might have been reason enough for him to make the initial investment.
My wife knows the owner quite well. She said that she will only net about $6,000 in profit off the $40,000 sales. So she still has a ways to go, but it is at least a start.
The cheesecake is quite delicious, the best I have had, and we look forward to having it a few times a year.
I stopped in at Wuollet's bakery today, which is about a mile west of Tavern on Grand. What a bleak store it is today. I can't imagine they will remain open much longer; no idea of how long a lease they have. I, and many others, used to go there all the time, and before a holiday, the line would be out the door. In recent years they quit carrying the variety of products, and I could no longer special order the bread I wanted. Somehow I had missed that the family had sold the business in 2019. I found that out when I was talking to the lonely person behind the counter.

Unfortunately, the family that cared, and made great product sold to somebody that doesn't and doesn't. I understand why they'd sell, but very disappointed in what's become of the stores.

Tried Minnesota Burger Co. tonight in Apple Valley. They opened yesterday. Tried 3 of the apps, cheese curds, onion rings and wings. All 3 were good. They have one of the largest liquor collections around.
When we were in town for the last Gopher series, we went to the new Scratch Pizzeria in Eagan. I had a thin crust pizza and the wife had the smoked chicken sandwich. Both were outstanding and we highly recommend it.

I was just going by there yesterday (live in Eagan) and noticed it for the first time. It's only a couple miles from my house, so I'll have to give it a try.
You go to a place called The Minnesota Burger Co. and can't be bothered to review any of the burgers?
Started out just having dinner at home. Then my wife went with me to price out a second shed. Cause all her books are starting to fill my garage. After that we decided to go in for one app. and it turned into 3 apps… lol!!!

I thought you said you lived around that area. The decor is nothing special, but the food was great. We always hit a place we have not been to on Saturdays when we are up there. We have one lined up for this weekend as well.

I saw on the socials that their ovens came from Old World Pizza. Doesn't mean the pizza will be good, but it's nice to hear they're being put to good use.
If true... pretty much tells me any chance of Old World coming back is little to none. Though the wife and I are taking the kids there tonight for family dinner out night. I'll have to catch the game on the phone tell we get back home.

The former Old World Pizza in IGH is becoming Pizza Pub
Went there tonight… Shared the Scratch with my wife. I really liked it, she did not. Might have to convince her to try it again. Have her go the sandwich route.
I’m surprised how many restaurants can’t make a red sauce for their spaghetti. My youngest loves spaghetti and if it’s on the kids menu, she’ll order it. I’ll always sample the sauce and more times than not their red sauce is not good. You would think the owner or head cook would put some effort into making a good red sauce.

Can't even get decent food - right after I got here, I ordered some spaghetti with marinara sauce, and I got egg noodles and ketchup. (c) Henry Hill, "Goodfellas"
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
I still remember one place out in Delano, I think it's still there, Asian/Mexican food. Got breakfast, asked the server for hot sauce, server asked, "Do you want tabasco, or the really hot stuff?" "Oh, I want the really hot stuff." She brought out Sriracha. YAWN.

My wife tells me all the time that’s how her dad made spaghetti. Noodles and ketchup… lol!!! Personally and not being bias, my wife makes a great sauce. Especially, when puts a little kick to it. My two girls like, but my son takes after his grandfather and goes noodles and ketchup.
FYI you guys aren't using "real" sri racha. It's a bastardized recipe made by a dude from Vietnam that started making his own version in California. It is the Rooster brand everyone in the U.S. recognizes.
Sriraja Panich which is made in the Si Racha region of Thailand still isn't VERY spicy, but it's way more flavorful.
Unfortunately the original creator didn't copyright the name and capitalize globally on what the Rooster guy has been able to do.
It didn't say explicitly, but an article in the Star Tribune seemed to imply that it was the sons of the former owner who had died... Unless I COMPLETELY read the article wrong...
Had my youngest daughter's birthday party at Grand Slam in Burnsville this past Saturday. They have really good pizza, better then take out pizza like Little Caesars or Domino's and better then some restaurants.
Wendy's has hands down the best restaurant chili followed by Texas Roadhouse. The only problem with Wendy's chili is it comes boiling hot. It takes almost 1/2 hour before you are able to eat it... lol!!!
Been there once. It was my wife and two other landlords with their wifes. I didn’t pay, one of the other guys paid the full bill. I just looked at the current menu and it’s a bit different from when we went. They might change their menu often for the season.
I know we ordered several platters to share, as well as are own plates. It was very good and unique. I know the two other couples ordered several drinks and they seemed to enjoy them. I’m pretty sure all 6 of us enjoyed it.
I’ve mentioned before in Apple Valley with in a 2-3 block area there’s a KFC, Cane’s, Chick-fil-A and a Popeye’s (being built). Now I just saw in the old DQ building, still with in that 2-3 blocks a Dave’s Hot Chicken is going in. 5 fast food chicken place… lol!!!
Btw, Dave’s Hot Chicken is Chris Humphries restaurant.

I went to the new one in Highland Park last weekend, pretty good. They put a kale slaw on their sandwiches which is excellent and the fries are very good too. They have like 7 different levels of heat you can pick from, the medium isn’t that hot but hot is so I can’t imagine what extra hot and reaper are like.
