Even as an adult, it's hard to pass up a good arcade game/skee-ball/etc.

If you ever make it to Tempe, hit up Beer Research Institute.  Brewery with a bunch of arcade games and pinball machines.  Very cool.

Also this in Manitou Springs (suburb of CO Springs in Colorado):

I can put a dent in most claw machines. If I walk past a claw machine, I’ll stop and look at the opportunities. If I see one, I’ll drop a dollar or two to snag it. I’ll also stop at $0.25 machines. The ones with the stack of $0.25s and you use the plow to push the stack forward once you drop a $0.25 in.

I have not met a (legit) claw machine I couldn't beat. There are some that are unwinnable, you've seen them, I'm sure.

We need to find a bar/restaurant with both good food and beer with a claw machine and empty it… lol!!!

@gator I think the chances of us running into each other in a restaurant are pretty slim. ?

I have a 12, 9 and 5yr old. The choices are few and far between. It must have either grilled cheese, cheese pizza or chicken nuggets/strips. We had our 5yr old’s birthday today at Chuck E. Cheese… The food is blah, but the games are a blast.

So my wife and I look for the opportunities on date night… lol!!!

In none of these scenarios am I choosing to go to Cracker Barrel.

Tried the Brito's Burritos in Minnetonka tonight, on Cedar Lake Road. Ordered basic chicken quesadillas.
Good: cheaper than Nacho's in Hopkins
Big portions

Bad: chicken was drier than dry
The green and red hot sauces were not tasty

Overall, I will give them a second shot, maybe it was a bad day, dunno, but not impressed at all.

To finish my mission of trying the 2 places I hadn't tried yet (the previous one was Brito's and if you go one post back you saw how that went), went to Taco Teresa's by Ridgedale. Had the Quesabirria. Sounded good, had NO idea what "birria" was. "Shredded meat" was the answer when I asked. Went for it. A little pricey, $17, but what the heck.

Worth it. God dang was that good. Messy, but man oh man, I'll be getting that again in the future.

I love Taco Teresa's and also recommend El Travieso at Tonka Blvd and Hwy 101, although TT is a slightly better option.

Note taken. I still love my Nacho's in Hopkins, but now they have competition.

From what I have heard, they haven’t been paying their bills and the sudden death of the owner mentioned was over a year ago. Another owner just drove it into the ground. Sad to see it go. Wish I could have gone back for one more Top of the Line and a cheese fry.

I saw a post on FB from Joe Atkins, who is District 2 (West St. Paul, South St. Paul and a good chunk of Inver Grove Heights) Commissioner for Dakota County. Old World was behind on payment of state sales tax and a year behind on payment of local property taxes. Partners had purchased the business and one of them passed away around a year ago; the other partner was unable to maintain the business and obviously was in arrears with taxes. Commissioner Atkins is planning to reach out to the bank that closed Old World and the estate of the owner who passed away to see if a path can be cleared for the next owner at that location.

I would add the Pickwick and Clyde Iron Works to that list.  Clyde more so because of how cool the building is than the food (food is ok).  Pickwick has some good food in a historic building and if get lucky you'll have a great view of the lake.

I would put Clyde Iron Works food above “ok”. Been there 3 times and thought all 3 times there food was excellent. The building is very cool with lots of history. Just a heads up… call before lunch or a day ahead especially on weekends or if hockey is going on at Amsoil or Heritage (they are pretty much neighbors).

I've eaten there maybe 4 times, but it's been a couple years.  Food was definitely just "ok" when I was there but to each their own.  The building is pretty cool though.

Edit: on further thought... I remember we went there a couple times in the first year it opened and we thought the food was really good.  Then the next 2 or 3 times we went it was definitely just "ok".  We go to Duluth once or twice a year and the place that is a "must" for our family is the Pickwick.  Good (not great) food but the building is cool and the view is great if you get a table near the window.  Our kids also really like Pizza Luce but I realize that is not unique to Duluth.

OMC smokehouse is good bbq too.  There are places I like better in the Twin Cities but it's decent and if you are wanting bbq it's a good option.

And one last one that I can't believe I forgot, but I love 7 West Taphouse.  Great burgers, fries, and lots of beers to choose from.

Definitely not the restaurant's decision, there must be more to the story.

From the Pioneer Press:

The building owners, a trust headed by Sandra Iverson, decided not to renew the lease, representatives of Madison Restaurant Group, which owns Eagle Street, said.

“It’s her building and she can do what she wants with it,” said Madison owner Jim Crockarell. “We’ve always made our payments on time — even through COVID — and have been a good tenant. We have taken care of the building. It’s unfortunate for the managers and the employees that are going to lose their job over something that really makes no sense at this point.”

Wonder if it's just as simple as them wanting to raise the lease price and not being able to come to an agreement.

My guess is she’s got a great offer and it’ll be torn down to make way for another concrete and glass rectangle to emerge.

I hope I’m wrong, of course.

I never liked Eagle Street.  IMO the only thing good thing about it was it was across from Xcel.  I’d much rather go to McGoverns, Burger Moes, Tom Reid’s, or Downtowner as their food is much better.

Ditto. Also the RIP Liffey, or basically ANY other place, due to the overpacking of Eagle Street (although McGovern's wasn't much better at that).

Cowboy Jack's bucket of wing (roughly 18-20 wings for $20) in Tuesday eves. (5-10pm) is a pretty good deal. Been there the past 2 two Tues. since my mother-in-law stays on Tuesday nights. We are kid free. You can only get one flavor per bucket. Have tried the Slim's dry run and the honey garlic.  I'll pick six out for lunch the next day and eat the rest there. The dry rub is better between the two freshly coming out.  Though the honey garlic are the best for leftovers the next day for lunch.

@the-rube

I prefer dry rubs over sauces. If I go with a sauce, I’ll ask for light sauce. Same with my ribs…

Also, flats >>> drums. And I’ll always pay extra for that.

A few months back I was traveling to Rochester, NY and was told to get a garbage plate. I looked it up and refused. Now the PGA Champ is in Rochester and they have shown it a few times. I do not regret my decision to skip it.

A garbage plate has some combination macaroni salad, home fries, hamburger meat, hot dogs, cheese, hot sauce, and whatever else you can find in your fridge that will expire soon.

Had lunch at the new Racks in Minnetonka. Food was average at best, layout was nice. I will refrain comment on the waitress' attire, all I will say it's a "higher class" Hooters. I won't be back.

Picked up a cheesecake from Crossroads Deli in Minnetonka for a Mem Day BBQ, and of course got a separate slice to try for science/quality test. $48 or so, but WORTH IT. Friggin' good.

I’ll have to try it. I’m a cheesecake hound. It and key lime pie are the only desserts I truly enjoy.

Have you tried Muddy Paws in Saint Louis Park? Can get spendy depending on the flavor you get (not a problem for me, NY all the way) It is delicious and we live way too close to it.

I have to amend this. Back Channel did team up with Muddy Paws for a bit, and infused a couple of their stouts with MP's cheesecakes, and sold by the slice at BC. If you weren't there within 30-40 minutes when they put the slices on the board for sale, you were out of luck. I did manage to snag a couple slices once. Absolutely delicious.

Had a late dinner at Ansari’s with the wife.  Went away from my traditional Taste of Jerusalem and went with the Gyro Stri Fry recommended by @the-rube and @viking. Medium heat is probably my limit. Most likely would go with the mil heat next time. Though it’s hard to pass on the ‘Taste of Jerusalem’… lol!!! My wife really likes the Shawarma Dinner.

I love spice, but for that dish, medium or no heat is the way to go.

And apparently Alary's is closing for now. The way it's read, maybe a re-branding?

Here is the list of new foods coming to the 2023 Minnesota State Fair.  Because of the HUGE success of the dill pickle pizza last year, there are a lot of new dill items this year.

Im drawn to the Dill Pickle Lemonade.  I adore sour.
