Shoes sizes haven’t changed I’m sorry to tell you guys, your feet have.  Foot ligaments loosen and feet both spread and lengthen.  It happens with age, or pregnancy or taking up running.  So unless you’ve recently gone on an extreme health kick or birthed a child, you’re getting old.  😜

I have a buddy that thought his feet were getting smaller, but it was eventually explained to him that when he was getting Blundstones online he was seeing the AUS sizing.

@bertogliat

Wore the 11’s I bought on Sunday to work today and they are 110% more comfortable than the 10’s.

My wife has borrowed some books from Kindle and a good number of them have notes and comments from previous readers. Is that normal and if so, is there a way to get rid of them?

Tried to copy on my phone not working but yes. Google delete other peoples notes on kindle. It’s a pretty simple process, you have to turn it off in Aa.

Not sure where else to put this, but I'm looking for advice from the hive mind...

I rent cars from Hertz a lot (due to corporate discount), and every single time I make a reservation, I get a receipt that says: "Due at time of rental: $xxx.xx USD". Lower down on the reservation email it says, "NOTE: There may be discrepancies between charge detail amounts and totals. Total amounts are correct."

Every single time I pick up the car and drive away, I get a receipt from Hertz that lists my total amount due well over what was listed in my initial reservation, ranging from a few dollars to $20+.

Every single time I get home I immediately send an email to Hertz asking them to fix the charges.

Every single time they refuse to do it, and sometimes they give me Hertz points and a half-assed apology.

(This past time they barely even responded: "After further review, I regret to inform you that the charges billed were valid.")

I certainly can't be the only one this is happening to--I assume people are just forgetting to reconcile their expenses, don't care, etc.  But this can't be legal, right?  I have looked through the rental terms and conditions and it does not say anything related to the charges other than what is listed above.

My question is this: is this the kind of thing one brings to the attorney general to look into, especially considering this is a repeated pattern?  I don't really care about the money, but this has to be against some sort of law, right?  Am I just crazy?

Given Hertz's habit of allowing people to get arrested in rental cars due to having reported the car stolen months or years before and never updating when the "stolen" car is returned a few hours or days later, while still sending the car out on a new rental, I think someone would have to put a gun to my head to get me into a Hertz car.

More directly to your question, I'd need to see... what is it that they're tacking on?

B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

It’s entirely unclear as the fees don’t match up at all.

Been wearing size 10 shoes for over 30 years. Though I’ve feeling some soreness in the tips of my toes and shoes/boots fitting tighter. I’ve been on a water pill for the last six months and at night when I get ready for bed I notice my ankles do swell at times. Yesterday we were at the outlet mall in Eagan and I tried on a new pair of shoes for work. I had my feet measured and now I’m a size 11.
I did play Dr. on Google to see if there is any scientific evidence that your feet can grow at 49. Though I really didn’t find anything to back it up either way. Might just have to talk to a doctor at work tomorrow to see what their opinion is.

I posted about this over a month ago. And after switching to up a size my feet and foot problems have pretty much disappeared. I also had a chance to talk to a podiatrist who's a friend of mine. And she said it's very normal and gave me all these medical terms that I don't remember... lol!!!

I have never had an issue with Hertz and the price...but if you are having those types of issues maybe try paying upfront and seeing if that alleviates it.

Unfortunately with my corporate rate code it doesn't let me pre-pay...  That would be awesome though!

I'm still tempted to report them to the attorney general for deceptive business practices, but part of me says, "What are you thinking???  That's ridiculous..."

I frequent Marketplace other sites like Craigslist. And it amazes me how many people sell stuff used for more than it would be new. And people are buying the stuff… lol!!!
Though I find stuff all the time for a bargain. And I’m always up for bargain and may barter. Pawn shops are another place to find bargains. And it’s a marathon, not a sprint when buying more stuff… lol!!!

I hit up one of the antique stores in Hopkins a few times a year. Usually it's a book, but I did find a (approx 1972) set of Jarts in mint condition a couple years ago. There is one particular old-timey table lamp I am looking for, and yes, I know I can find it online, but where's the fun in that? 😉

I also look from items with a story behind them or I relate to. I have a flashlight from Berkeley’s Pit in Butte, Mt. I remember as a kid seeing the pit in operation. Now it’s full of water.

I very seldom take night time cold medications (once or twice a year). Though like the last 2 or 3 times I have, it really messes with me. It knocks me out for most of the night but I have weird dreams and hallucinations type of episodes. I take day time cold medications often and never have a problem with them. Almost make me just want to take day time at night and deal with struggling to get to sleep.

I am the opposite.  Daytime medications make me shaky and feel worse.

Night time I load up on a few things to clear my sinuses and avoid cough.

Dextromethorphan syrup (Nyquil Cough) helps.  Benedryl helps a lot.  I actually use it nightly year round.  Vick's Vaporub under the nose.  And saline spray to the nose (also Nasacort if needing additional help).

I sleep with a CPAP so clear sinuses are a must or I won't sleep at all.  But I avoid pseudoephedrine at all costs.

I made that mistake once.  Never again.  What I can't figure out is why companies are allowed to sell phenylephrine as a nasal decongestant if it doesn't work?  It feels like a scam.

It has to do with regulatory processes related to approval and the removal of approval of medications.

It actually takes a while to essentially revoke approval, including something like a 180 day comment period on the FDA advisory panel recommendations (which was, in essence, "oral phenylephrine doesn't work")

I would guess this gets pulled from the market in the next year, but I don't actually have any formal background in pharmaceutical regulatory affairs 🤔 😆

What is the point in making Twitter bots (for lack of a better term)?

They usually have a few things in common:

  • The avatar is always of an attractive lady
  • These accounts typically follow thousands of others
  • The usually don't have a single tweet

Are these like the Kenya e-mail bank scams of the past, in that they hope to lure some thirsty into sending a PM and eventually sucking money out of them?

I always thought they were being used for follow bots, ie following an up and coming "influencer" to boost their follow amount (for money of course). They then follow random people to try and avoid auto ban detection.

Slap Fighting might be the most moronic "sport/activity" of all times. For some reason they started to pop on my fb feed. And since I watched one or two, they continue to pop up. You seriously must have the IQ of a 7-day old salad bar to participate in these competitions.

I thought you got there from the Wyoming exit. In my misguided youth we used to have some sizable field parties about a mile west of the Stacy exit. Unlikely that’s what you saw 😉.

I couldn’t remember if Wyoming was just north or just south of Stacy.  Looks like Stacy is north of Wyoming so it had to be something else.

I am a dum@$$...  I was a part time (30~ish hours/wk) mechanic in College to try and help pay for it.  I invested in Matco tools, over 3 years, had a nice rolling box, complete socket sets, wrenches, SAE and Metric, etc. Probably had $10k-$12k in there.  Matco is similar to Snap-On, but our shop wasn't big enough to get Snap-On to show up.  Mercil's campus auto repair, right across from McNamara.  I worked on a few people's vehicles who are on this board, and probably parked many of your cars on Friday and Saturday nights before walking over to the games myself.

When I finished college I had a very small, very cheap apartment and nowhere to store the tools.  I figured, well, I am not going to be a mechanic any more, why don't I sell these.  I sold the whole thing for about $4,500... like an idiot.  Impact wrench, several specialty tools, all of it.  🤬

I now do all my own car maintenance and repairs other than recall work.  And have had to buy everything back, except worse quality for about the same price.  I should've paid for a storage unit or something temporarily, and never sold the toolbox.  I regularly kick myself every time I go out to work on either one of our vehicles.

lol, I received my very first scammer email asking for bitcoin! 🤣. Mis-spelled threats saying they had access to my computer history and I should be ashamed of myself, I wouldn’t want my contact list to see what I’ve been watching online.  Watching online? I feel I need to cut this off at the pass so here’s my confession: cat videos, adults doing dumb stunts at the pool, a French chocolatier who makes elaborate desserts, Gopher hockey highlights, that’s about it.  I’m so relieved getting that off my conscience.  So now I don’t have to pay $2000 in bitcoin to protect my reputation.

Amaury Guichon?  The guy who makes full sized, or to scale, working items out of Chocolate?  Things like bars, safes, bulldozers, tools, etc?  I first saw him on Chef Reactions and he's amazing.

I try to stick to Milwaukee for power and Husky for hand. And brands like Craftsman and Rigid for the rest. I’m pretty sure Craftsman is now a Lowell’s product that Sears went belly up.

FWIW Husky is a Home Depot only brand made by other companies.  But they have a lifetime warranty and home Depot should be around for a while.

@fightclub30 My son is in his second year at DCTC to become a heavy equipment mechanic.  Already has a job at a company that really wants him and he is excited to not be PT there post graduating.  He's been fixing our cars since he was 15 and slowly built up his at home tools, mostly Milwaukee and Husky.  All his work tools are Snap on and Milwaukee.
