As someone who owns 2 pickup's, I guess I will sit this one out. Luckily I fall in the 10% that needs them for my farm business. I do shake my head at the ones who put oversized tires on them and jack them up like Big Foot the monster truck. Now, if I see that owning a tractor appears in this thread, we may have a problem.. 🤣
I don't think anyone would say a farm owning trucks is a lifestyle accessory lol.
I think we can all tell immediately between a work truck and a pavement princess. Driving a 75K+ personal vehicle is already a bit much but we all know these dudes who are just trying way too hard. Congrats if that’s a frivolous purchase for you but for most of us our vehicles have to be functional.
I was looking into a pickup when I was shopping for a new vehicle a few years ago. Why? I only needed 2 seats. After that, didn't really care. Unfortunately, Wrangler was my first choice, pickup my second choice, and both were too expensive. Would they have been blacktop babies? Yep. Would I have gotten all the add-ons, etc? Nope.
I see a truck, and when looking at it, one can tell if it's a bro-dude truck or a workingman's truck. That's how I judge, and yes, I judge in that aspect.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
I never thought I'd be a truck person but here I am with one. Having two properties requires a lot of moving stuff plus we've purchased a some water toys we need to tow so it makes sense for us . I can see snowmobiles in our future as well. We had three minivans prior to the truck and it's amazing how much you can get in those, way more than most SUVs, and after moving away from van ownership we realized how much we missed its size and flexibility.
We have a GMC but the crab walk thing on the newer ones doesn't seem necessary but who knows? We have the pro tailgate and that is far more useful than I ever imagined and is very functional. Mrs. GE is not very tall so she loves being able to fold the gate into a step if she's hauling or moving stuff.
We probably fall in the middle between a parking lot princess and required truck. Do we need it every day? Not at all. Do we need it more than a few times a month? For sure, if not more and especially after moving this past year. I like driving it a lot more than I thought I would, really comfortable and the gas mileage is not awful. It is the first new vehicle I have ever purchased and it certainly wasn't cheap, we went one below the wicked expensive Denali package and I love its features and it's 100% standard. Well, ok, I did add an organizational insert to put into the center console so it's not just a deep chasm. I looked at used trucks but they really hold their value so buying new made sense to us.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.....

Hey no judgment here. My favorite vehicle I’ve owned was a 95 K1500 Silverado. It was worth it for moving back and forth to campus in Mankato alone. Maroon, regular cab, long box, she was a beaut. Vortec was just appearing in the top trims, but mine was step or two below that so it still had a bulletproof 350.
Cripes, it’s been nearly 20 years and I still miss that thing.
This is an 89 but the only exterior difference (from this angle) is the manual chrome mirrors. Mine had power ones enclosed in black.
Everyone has different things they spend their expendable income on. Whether it be hockey, vehicles, fancy beer, church, eating out, trendy clothes, cabins, video games, your kids……to each their own. Just because it isn’t your choice doesn’t make it wrong. Be a good human despite what you spend your money on. It’s that simple. 😁

I judge people more on how they drive than what they drive.
I think that is factor #1, but what they drive is also a possible clue into how they drive.

Yep... too many distractions in vehicles now days. Drivers are allowing the vehicle to drive them and not them drive the vehicle while being a defensive driver.
Keep your stick on the ice...
I'd say if you're judging someone by the vehicle they choose to drive (music they listen to, food they eat, clothes they wear...) it may be a you problem.
Good Lord.
Who’s judging?!?!?! @dxmnkd316 , others and I have pretty much said, if it floats your boat, ohhhhhhh well. Just don’t get it.
"Whatever floats your boat" is an attitude that means you don't talk shit about their boat, or as stated previously their pavement princess. 😉
ftr I have never owned a pickup and am just having fun with this. 😆
"Whatever floats your boat" or its relative, "You do you" is passive aggressive judging. 😉

That thing looks like an oversized, muscular El Camino. Good stuff.
