It does compare, because it does affect your mental state. It affects it in different ways, sure. I've said that. But it does take away from your best mental capacity in some form.

Does THC beverages have the same effect as smoking a joint. I smoked one joint in my life and that was over 30 years ago. I was at Surly Saturday evening for my bother-in-law's 40th birthday party. I'm so out of the loop with beer and breweries now that I have beers maybe once or twice a year now.
Edibles kinda hit different in that they take longer to take effect and creep up on you. If you do like 5 mg or something smaller to start that’d prob be the way to go and then just realize that it sometimes takes 45 to 90 mins for it to fully hit. So what you don’t wanna do is make the classic mistake of doing double before the first one takes effect.

You should be calling yourself out. Other than THC drinks hitting you on a different curve than smoking it or drinking alcohol it’s just a different version of getting buzzed. Knocking THC is just dumb as alcohol is basically poison while THC has many positive health effects for many people. Feel free to argue with me so I can tell you all my stories about people getting “sober”, abating their MS symptoms, cutting their migraines and sleep issues using it.

Any intoxicant you use on a regular basis is gonna affect you long term if you abuse it. Saying from current experience 😅

I am talking short-term (like when I referenced people saying they are going to drink a 4pk of THC like a 6pk of Coors). 😉
The effects are there, but quite a bit different.

Can I just say Drekker is awesome and has helped numb the pain. 😂
They have a pretty sweet hotel, too. Stayed there for Rare Beer Picnic last year. Even on a non-event weekend, I'd recommend checking it out. Frankly, if determined enough, you don't even have to leave the property. Food market, taproom, etc.

we chatted with some friends about a weekend here sometime. Looks like $160 a night most weekends but $225 this weekend 😳

While obviously the human body builds up a resistance to alcohol over time, it seems like there’s a particularly sharp curve for ingesting THC. If you ingest THC on a daily basis you seem to more quickly build up a tolerance to it. Some people think they’re gonna die when they drink a 10MG bevy others can down 25MG or more and just be in their happy place. To each their own.

It was about $200/night for RBP. It's a bizarre, but very nice place. And about a $5 Uber anywhere at any time of day. Including Junkyard (OG location) on a weekend night.

I did not know that about the resistance/tolerance factor between the two types of intoxicants. Interesting.

I don’t think he knocked it at all, pretty sure that was someone else.

I don't know if any of you enjoy soju (not the fruity crap in the green bottles) but just found a bottle of Hwayo 53 and it's fantastic. I prefer it chilled neat, but I've had other quality sojus mixed like gin or vodka and that works too.
So.....the pizzeria is next door, which would NOT make Fair State a brewpub? (Meaning no distro). If there is a separation of businesses then there is distro....

Details being finalized, but I got a score today. Pappy Van Winkle 15YO (2014 release) and George T Stagg (2011) plus a throw in bottle or two for $2200. I am stoked. I've inspected the PVW and GTS bottles, they are pristine.
And Drastic did distro Super Stupid IIIPA this week, which is an outstanding Hazy beer.

Falling Knife Brewing owner Tom Berg passed away unexpectedly this past weekend, at the age of 46. He was a really cool dude, have had more than a beer or two with him. 🙁

Yesterday I went for a walk while my in-laws were visiting my wife to find some food. Went to Mesa Pizza and was chatting with one of the employees. She told me THC drinks are open container, unlike beer. You can buy one and walk around drinking it. You learn something new every day...
Had our annual Spring Bottle Share today, lotta duds, lotta good. I won't go into detail, but will share one surprising thing: 2015 Indeed Rum King really, really wanted to be Rum King, one of the best beers I've ever tasted, but fell just short. Imagine Woody Harrelson trying to dunk in "White Men Can't Jump." It was that close after 10 years. That is rather impressive.
The other highlight (but apparently only in my eyes) was 3Floyd's 2020 My Rod My Comfort Scotch barrel-aged Dark Lord. I loved it, most in the group are not peat scotch people. It's not Hammerheart level (which is ALL THE PEAT) but it was enough to turn them off.

This will only be of interest to a few people, but Brickside Brewing in Copper Harbor MI will be closing this year. Mediocre beer at best, but it was a place to watch the car show parade when up there in July. This past Sat, 4 of 8 taps were in use, and zero crowlers.
Well, that explains it.

They never made anything new, or anything good. 😬
Don't know how they stayed open this long. Will not be missed.

They had a solid/cheap location working for them. And, they do have a great spot to watch the cars on End of the Road weekend. Other than that...
It was okay. They are plenty of others that deserve the fate more, but
This.
And a (retired) prominent member of this site was one of the "founding members" (customers who got in on the ground floor of contributing/buying first memberships/etc; don't recall how Alloy structured theirs).
We're going to see a lot more of these closings happening. The boom is over, and now we're seeing the repercussions.

Technically, I am too. Even after they opened, they still had a few slots in that group, and since it's close to my house, I ended up doing that, too.
I think the "shutdown" also helped accelerate the closings. People stayed true to "their" neighborhood breweries, and have kept that practice. "Uber-localization," where people didn't really travel out to a brewery "just because." It still happens, but most want to make sure THEIR brewery stays open.

According to the retired GPL’er and founding member at Alloy, it was a lease issue that was part of the problem for them closing. And they are correct, you’ll start seeing more and more breweries closing. Im surprised it didn’t happen sooner. The ones I seeing surviving, are the ones that also have an established menu for food and not just some random food truck. Though it’s a bummer to see the good breweries fold and the not so good hand on.
As for a neighborhood bar. Europeans think it’s crazy that Americans drive to bars, let alone bars across town. Europeans stick to their neighborhood bar and are loyal to it.
My hometown brewery, Cut Bank Creek Brewery is closing. The owner wants to retire and has had the brewery to sale for over a year and a half. No takers, so it’s closing. If you know of anyone that wants a brewery that’s 30 minutes from Canada, 40 minutes east of Glacier Nat’l Park and on Hwy 2. This would be the one.
